  1. I had a machine mart log splitter once... lasted 1 season.
  2. download some free video editing software, you should be able to lift out singe frames.
  3. .........its not all about chainsaws and climbing!
  4. since you didn't specify weight class, I would have this and have a chip box built that can be lifted off with the crane and used with timber bolsters. and a winch a massive one. DAF 4X4 Truck, Fitted ATLAS Crane, #18425 - MOD Sales, Military Vehicles & Used Ex MOD Land Rovers for Sale
  5. I have a 3.5t tipping trailer, 105tt or something. I started towing it with an l200 warrior then a new hylux invincible, for the past year an a half I've been pulling it with an '04 plate disco 2. I've also pulled it with my dads navara. the best tool for the job....... by far is the disco. its sat at 150k at the moment and have already decided when it goes pop i'm having another. I would like a defender but suffer from the impairment of having elbows.
  6. I did some work last year out in Czech, the guy I was working for is setting up for horse logging. the area he works at is over 1000m sea level and they take an approach where if they can avoid it they wont take a machine into the woods. this is all part of them still trying to repair the damage caused by ussr. (p.s. Czechoslovakia does not exist any more, its Czech Republic now, or just Czech. this annoys them).
  7. I get it. we have an ever increasing mountain of soft wood that we cant give away faster than we generate it. prob is that its arb waste, if we could pull it out in 3m lengths every time then we could punt it easy and every time someone tells me they will take loads they turn up with a small ifor. I also hate waiting for people to turn up late, especially when your giving stuff away for free. we give about 4-6 loads a month or so to the guys who take our chip but the pile still grows and is taking valuable space in our yard. i get it very much so.
  8. perhaps, but the job got done, everyone got paid and nothing got broke.
  9. has any one tried the Torro Dingo?
  10. alternatively you can get one here BS 3998:2010 Tree work. Recommendations
  11. someone else's washing machine
  12. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/65775-why-valtra.html I asked similar question a while back.
  13. Looking for subcontract / fulltime staff. Please email c.v and personal details to [email protected]
  14. As far as I know we are the only guys in our immediate area who are vat. even if we are more expensive than every other tender we are still offering a fair price. we offer a fair price for the service that we offer. in order to offer the level of service we do, we have no choice but to be vat, the numbers dont add up for me otherwise. I know its not for everyone. for us, we are better off being vat.
  15. don't drop your prices to win the job, your taking money out your own pocket. If people don't want to pay the vat, walk. people who want it done on the cheap are not my target client base. If you want to offer a professional, efficient service you need the right guys and the tools, you need to find the clients who understand this.
  16. we have been vat for nearly a year now. yes you will lose jobs. no doubt. however i do not recall having lost an existing customer, all/majority of our customers are happy to pay the extra 20% for us to do the work. In my opinion vat is inevitable for any successfully growing tree squad, so pinch your nose and dive in, its really not that bad if you have a system. good luck.
  17. Has anyone tried running a winch of a generator?
  18. 'web page is not available' ??
  19. check the reading on the computer, this reads the speed of the fly wheel. it should read around 1200 if its significantly lower than that say 400 - 600, check the distance between the speed sensor (silver threaded bolt) and the fly wheel. if you can get a pound coin between the gap there is a possibility that the fly wheel is drifting. this can be fixed temporarily by adjusting the sensor closer. you probably will need to get it into a dealer and have a new taper lock fitted. If the sensor is reading wrong speed it will cut power to feed rollers.
  20. I'm in the process of taking an Edinburgh based demolition company to court for 5500. this is the second time I've worked for a demolition company and the second time I've had to fight them for cash. it is however the last.
