  1. ..........and don't forget you have to replace / fix all the things they break.
  2. Ok, so if you decide to go down the mini digger with gab route for arb work. what cert of competence would you need to put your guys through to take it onto a commercial site? what other legislation covers the use of mini diggers?
  3. I drain tanks before putting away, pain in arse, but better than striping down and holding air filter over the blower in the clients garden.
  4. Sorry to de-rail but................... Tgs-Grabs.nl – HYDRAULIC SELECTOR/ DEMOLITION GRABS Tgs-Grabs.nl | | TGS | The Grab Specialist
  5. I have a base hourly rate.. the minimum I am willing to invest resources for return. every factor increasing the difficulty and technicality of the job increases the price. when you price the job who are you actually competing against? -every gardener with a hedge cutter. or the 3 teams in your area that can do the job with the right kit, skill and efficiency? would you charge the same day rate for 2 man days trimming 5ft hedges as you would for 2 man days dismantling Sycamore leaning over conservatory?
  6. this very simple idea took me from 60Kpa to 150Kpa in one year.
  7. Rupe, I have similar experience as this. we had to remove a multi stemmed Lime from the top side of a retaining wall. we ground down to at least 0.5 / 0.75 m and still didn't find the root flare, we are going back to dig it out when the retaining wall is dismantled and I'm curious as to how deep it goes. Edit: the soil on mine was built up with mainly construction rubble / soil.
  8. 10x5 tipper with high mesh sides towed with disco. mesh have removable ply wood sides so can chip into when required. disco pulls it a treat.
  9. Im a member of a trusted trader scheme and as so we are prohibited from cold calling. If you've managed to grow your business to the stage where you are AA, should you really need to cold call? I hate it, window fitters/ loft insulation knocking the door, PPI / unclaimed accident etc. tarmac laying tree cutters.
  10. why not have it in the centre of the universe.......... Fife.
  11. So if arb work is not classed in beside forestry..... then where is it?
  12. thinking more of small holding type affair with agricultural style out buildings rather than mid terrace and garage?
  13. Hypothetical question: If i buy a house with land i.e. horse field, where do you stand legally on using the field to run your business out of? I understand that if I want to build I need Planning, but if I was to lay type 1 and put containers there and run a business from there, do i need to apply for change of use? If I was to buy a house with existing out buildings that could be used to run a business from, do I need permission? Does that make sense?
  14. jesus...... threw a ring off an Ash and watched in horror as it disappeared through a man hole cover disguised as a pile of sawdust. felled a fair sized Beech stick perfectly between a wall and garage, the stick then rolled in slow motion 90 degrees to the left and settled nicely against the wall leaving it at a gravity defying 40 degrees. replaced a shed for the cost of the job. sold the firewood to pay the day. rolled a stump grinder. drove a mini digger into a septic tank. discovered the reason why you need to be extra carefully where you set down the fuel can when working with a Jenson chipper. the list goes on and is ever expanding............
  15. So I placed an order today for various bits of kit, from rope and harness to barrier tape and boots etc, etc. now instead of buying my usual hiflex trousers which up till now were my fave, I had to chose an alternative pair. Ok so i could go to my local dealer and buy them, but i like to buy all at once and hopefully get a better discount and not have to spend the extra cash on travel and wasted time.
  16. what specific info are you looking for?
  17. We ...... well he, winched it back out of the ruts then reversed back onto the track. No big dealreally . The Funniest thing about it, one of my guys disappeared for half an hour, when he came skulking back in to the woods and told me he got stuck I couldn't figure it out. He said we could put some sticks under the wheels to get out........ I walked into the field tofind the van sitting on its axles in a bit of the field it shouldn't have been
  18. Yes, that spot is very soft but about 10 yards to the left on the photo is a nicely compacted track through the field. his punishment was to winch it out while I stand and watch.
  19. Our tranny up to the axles, knew i should have taken the landy. Spot the wee welshmin at the back on the tirfor. you get it in...... you get it out.
  20. Nothing special about the host but the fruit i find quite impressive, I've been coming back to this tree for 4 years now around this time and always a good display.
  21. My A530 has no fuel gauge and a black tank, but we fill at the start of the day and have never run out, even on long hard days.
  22. You can register to be paid gross which takes out all the arse ache. there are 3 conditions 1) your buisness based in uk 2) you have a bank account 3) you can prove a turnover in excess of £30k p/a
