  1. About 20 years ago i used them when i worked for Croydon council tree section. They had 2 of the tow alongs and a pto version. Gravity feed so if the blades weren't sharp it wasn't worth taking it out of the yard as it was the cutting action that pulled the material in. Ford engines and weighed over 2 ton if I remember right. Brings back memories seeing them.
  2. Very happy with my cut & climb. I brought a XL as I'm somewhere between a L and XL in sweatshirts etc and it fits great with the arm and body length but its a little loose across the chest.
  3. Nice splice Rich. what sort of length of rope was in the eye, 8 -10 cm ?

  13. Just my 5 pence worth, that damage and the cavity that has formed might of been caused by having a bonfire to close to the tree many years ago. Where are you based, I'm sure there's someone on here that might be able to help you.
  14. Anyone else going on the workshops this coming week ? I'm there Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  15. I was working on the very western edge of the Brecon Beacons today and it was windy most of the day but about 2.30 it went mental, pouring down and very windy. Then after it was relatively still.
  16. I'm very happy with mine, but you ain't seeing a picture of me in the buff !
  17. No complaints with the 540 here, I've used various forms of the 200 for nearly 21 years and while the 540 isn't as good its not far away.
  18. Thanks Mick, I'm glad I'm not the only one that used to have a sneaky look in my mums catalogue !
  19. If it just switching off instantly and then restarting its going to be a electric fault. Start with the cheapest and try a new plug and then like others have said maybe a new HT lead, ignition unit and cables ?

  24. Nice truck, I used to have a 4x4 iveco (9.5 ton) with a crane and chip box on it with a netting top. It used to surprise me where it would go off road. Got a little expensive when I had the transfer box rebuilt after the input bearing failed !
  25. I know a group of guys that done said course recently and at the end of the day the instructor said 'if you can't set your work site out as recommended in the little red book or haven't got enough signs just do as good a job as you can'. All the time guys are being told this, your going to see work sites with just 2 tree cutting signs at each end ! I wonder how this stand up if something went wrong ?
