  1. Where's next on your road trip Paul ?
  2. If it's covered by a TPO, I'd be very surprised if they were allowed to fell all of it in one go.
  3. Where did the theft happen ? I see your based in Powys.
  4. Would a forwarder get to the trees or do they defiantly need winching out ?
  5. I think they changed about 2005 to the newer version with the breather built into fuel line.
  6. Thanks for the info, I'd would of never believe there was that much info available. Is the manifold boot stuck to the cylinder with a liquid gasket ? I took the 'u' shaped clamp of and was going to remove the boot to check it but it didn't want to come away and I didn't want to force it.
  7. I've check the impulse hose and it seemed fine. I worked on loads 200t's and find them easy but stripping the 540 down to check the manifold boot is complicated to say the least !
  8. It's was different to a raise in revs that you'd expect from fuel starvation, it was instant and held 2/3 revs with no change until I turned it off. Thanks for the input though Pete.
  9. Two or three times over the last couple of weeks my 540 just rev'ed up on its own without touching the throttle. I'd turn it off to try to reset it and when started again it was fine. Then Monday morning I went to start it and it wouldn't run at all. Any thoughts ? If the husky dealers plug these auto tune saws into their diagnostic devices, what does it tell them ? Back to the 200t for the time being !
  10. I got a neck smock (if that's what its called) when I brought my rope wrench.
  11. I've found that when people use the knut and it's not biting all the time, adding another wrap sorts it out. When tending the slack, the rope needs a bit more of a pull but your guaranteed it's going to bite.
  12. Well done on passing, roll on CS 39 now then ?
  13. How about fixing a ball hitch on the head board end of the trailer. Once the chipper is up into the trailer, attach the tow hitch to the ball hitch and put a couple ratchet straps across the axle ?
  14. Don't feel it was a bad idea Timon, It's the world we live in that Christmas seems to start earlier every year. I noticed on sky tv there was a Xmas music channel on there a few weeks ago !
  15. I'd agree with the above comment, the ISA is defiantly worth doing even if your thinking of maybe doing a L4 or L6 in the future. The L2 would be a good 'stepping stone' on the other courses.
  16. I'd recommend Mike as well, real nice bloke.
  17. I stuck some carpet gripper rod with no nails along the top of my fence on the inside with no nails, quick and easy fix to stop people climbing over !
  18. About 2 years from stretch air trousers class c's. About 15 months from protector pro boots then they really start to leak, saying that I've never put any sort of treatment on them. 6 days a week, every week use.
  19. Can't you run in it to the biomass plants yourself nick with your lorry to cut out the middle man ?
  20. I had a set of Go-jacks when I worked in London. I'm not sure if it was legal but I'd put one of the Go-jacks under each wheel and as long as the road was reasonably level we would move the car out of the way if there was space.
  21. It slowed us down, had to put tag lines on the sections to stop them being blown and swinging over the buildings on the lowering line. How's things Jon ?
  22. It blew hard between 11.30 and 1 here in west wales. Made a simple dismantle over a couple of out buildings a nightmare
  23. Have you got the RW connected to the hand ascender in that picture ?
  24. That fuel line doesn't look great, you only need a tiny hole that sucks air in when the saw is under load and it will cause problems. It would only be a few quid to change that.
  25. I was convinced that it was fuel related, changed fuel filter, rebuilt the carb, checked breather and impulse hose and then went deeper looking at piston condition etc and a mate that fixes motorbikes suggested the ignition module. Luckily I knew someone that had the same saw so I tried his module in the saw and bingo it worked 100%. It would idle fine, start a cut and then die. I'm not saying it's defiantly the same problem with yours but if you run out of ideas it's worth a try .
