  1. Christmas doo: Pigeon delays removal of Fort William tree - BBC News :laugh1:
  2. I don't think they would pump into an IBC or drums (I have a pile of 200l plastic drums!)
  3. Looking to get a small oil tank to accept red diesel deliveries, circa 1000L, and ideally a slim one to hide out of sight Both steel and plastic tanks (new) start at the same sort of price, £300-£400 for this size, any suggestions which is better? Steel rusts but plastics go brittle and crack? And plastics need a full width base but steel only need pillars? I do plan to move at some point in the future so might have to empty it and take it with me! I did buy a cheap 2nd hand steel tank locally but when I gave it a good clean up at home I felt it was too far gone so cut it up to make a coal bunker!
  4. I'm sure they're good wee vans, but any vehicle being driven all day 5 days a week isn't going to last long!
  5. Keep the tools for now, you'll need to sell them later this year to buy a new van Most of all enjoy what you do. "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life" :thumbup1:
  6. The "drive through" tree is a different one, mdvaden posted some info I remember watching this video a couple of years ago: [ame] [/ame]
  7. The hydraulics are obviously modified on the crusher machine you have, but on the standard TCP HT500 dumper, the small pump does low speed, and both pumps combined do high speed "1.3 Hydraulics Refer to the Hydraulic Schematic drawing in Section 7.22 Carrier Hydraulics Mk4 –2006 Drg 1599. The diesel engine drives a hydraulic pump coupled to its shaft. This pump provides two outputs: • a 3 cc per rev, low flow, high pressure output for low speed and general use and • an 8 cc boost output. These are combined to provide an 11 cc/rev high flow, high pressure boost drive for the high speed track drive."
  8. The Douglas Spruce is back again this year! Search douglas spruce | Iceland Groceries
  9. Why would the police be interested in a bonfire? So long as it's safe and under control people have nothing to complain about?
  10. Don't know if it's what you're after but have a look at Makar and R House Makar Construction Inverness | Building Design, Manufacture and Construction R.HOUSE Innovative Timber Homes Made on Skye
  11. Sawmill next to me can't give the stuff away. Most of what they produce is a wet fine dust. I take the odd wee bag of their dry shavings for the chicken coop I guess none of the sawdust burners would be any good with wet sawdust?
  12. You need heat resistant spray glue. I did it once with the normal spray contact adhesive and it fell down on a sunny day!
  13. Yes I'm sure it will be possible to add it. A friend did it on his gx340 on his compressor. I don't know where you'd get the parts, but a quick search brought up this : ELECTRIC STARTER MOTOR KIT TO FIT HONDA GX340 GX390 #85 | eBay Seems a lot of money though as you can buy a clone 9hp engine complete with starter for about the same!
  14. A lot of work gone into that! The engine looks like a Honda clone? It's probably possible to add a charging circuit to it - you can get electric start versions
  15. I didn't realise it was rare, see it here all the time in winter, there was a blob near the house on monday morning. Ever since a kid I've always loved picking it up and watching it disappear in your hand!
  16. I've got the mulching kit on the same mower, part number is right, just checked the invoice. I can't remember much about how it fits as I fitted it before even using the mower!
  17. The way things are going, in a few years time even generators will be battery powered!
  18. Trees for life do this, you pay them £385 per week to plant trees!!

    Please please

I've had a cheap no-name stainless steel flask for years and years, cost a couple of quid from Tesco, simple screw lid, holds a litre, battered and dented but still works perfect! Looks identical to thermos brand one my folks have which cost 5x the price!
  20. Yes and not many about 2nd hand either They're a hardy machine, but most of them look pretty shagged, spent most of there life on hire, and been rolled over a few times no doubt!
  21. An extra slice on the hydraulic valve block It has a dual pump with a solenoid in the valve block to combine the two feeds for high speed. Yes I'm going to make a fixed 700mm wide table, and then 40mm box sliding into 50mm box for the extensions I think
  22. Yes a conveyor would be nice if I had the space! I've got a folding ramp permanently fitted to the van, so I can just drive the machine straight in and out I've been thinking for a long time how to improve my setup, none of the ready made splitters meet my needs of fast, powerful, very mobile, robust, and narrow access. I was looking for weeks/months on ebay etc to find the right track dumper, most in this size have a smaller engine. Very nearly bought a 1ton machine but (now thankfully!) that deal fell through. 500 mile trip to get this TCP dumper. As new they did have a PTO option. Took ages to get it all figured out and then was let down numerous times, and waiting on parts. Local hydraulics shop are very knowledgeable but also very busy and terrible at returning calls. Needed to get a cylinder repaired, various hoses made up, and the main part was an extra slice for the valve block which in the end I had to speak to the technical manager of the component manufacturer to get! Relocated the battery, and fitted a much bigger one. And fitted a hydraulic oil cooler. Quite a hard machine to work on as it's so tight for space I had it in my head it would take a week - 3 months later and it's usable but not finished Need to put a few days use on it to find the next set of faults
  23. This project has been rumbling on for a few months, almost there now! It has a 9.5hp Kubota diesel Still need to make a bigger table, and tidy it all up. Also got a small electric hoist I want to try out. [ame] [/ame]
  24. As suggested by someone on here years ago, cut 3 sides off a combi spanner with an angle grinder, and that fits in the mechanism. Handy tool to have when it comes to replacing a brake band Not my video, but this is the idea: [ame] [/ame]
  25. First person to light a bonfire in the rain wins.........
