  1. Has anyone got any suggestions of a good ratio of glyphosate 360 in a knapsack sprayer, for spraying rhododendron regrowth? Thanks
  2. There's strimmer line from Italy with pretty little shiney bits mixed in apparently "embedded aluminium particle nylon line" Doesn't seem to make much difference!
  3. See I prefer it the other way round. Blade on the smaller machine and nice long, thick line on the big strimmer.
  4. Sounds like a good excuse to build a shed
  5. First grass cut of the year today! Didn't desperately need it though.
  6. Poor mans bobcat: [ame] [/ame] :laugh1:
  7. There's a lot of work gone into that
  8. Looks like it was filmed on location in the outer Hebrides :001_tongue:
  9. If you can't get the specific one, my friend had sides made for a Kioti utv by a local tarpaulin company. They've got windows, zip up, and fit like a glove, you'd think they were original parts No idea what they cost though!
  10. This is headline news for the local paper! Tain Dutch Elm disease warning as outbreak forces major road diversion | Ross-shire Journal | News To be honest I have not heard of timber movement restrictions on diseased elm before, usually it seems to get sold for sawmilling and/or firewood
  11. I think a large fan would be much more successful than a heater or dehumidifier, blows the moisture right out of the items in a few hours. Cheaper to buy and run aswell!
  12. Yes you would have to lower the level to then build it back up with tyre bales If you want some bed time reading, this pdf popped up on google, the project was nearly 15 years ago up in Sutherland, but might give you some ideas in general http://timbertransportforum.org.uk/attachments/article/126/Roadscanners%20Publication%202003%20Tyre%20Bales%20on%20the%20B871.pdf
  13. Have no experience of it myself, but have heard of tyre bales being used as a base for a road over soft ground. For a while there was a local company offering them for free (maybe just the cost of haulage) as obviously they were making the money on the tyre disposal
  14. You don't need national delivery, you need local delivery!!
  15. It's like with any trade really, word of mouth is best, ask friends for recommendations, the person with the crap advert in the local paper claiming "best prices" or poster next to the main road might not always offer the best service....
  16. From BTCV Fencing book: "The law states that barbed wire should not be used on land adjoining a public highway (which includes public rights of way) where it may cause injury to people or livestock legally using the highway. However, there is no rule on the minimum distance of the barbed wire from the edge of the highway, and each situation must be judged for itself. Barbed wire on fences immediately adjacent to narrow paths or bridleways would be likely to be considered dangerous, whereas barbed wire at a few metres distance from the edge of the path would probably not." "On a fence or wall adjacent to a public highway or right of way, any deterrents to trespass, such as barbed wire or spikes on walls should not be a danger to highway users. The owner of a fence or wall can be sued if a passer-by is injured by a deterrent which is considered to be excessive" Why do they want the barb wire? To keep the commoners like me out?
  17. Can you not store a wee cheap trailer at work? Or stockpile it and once a year hire a bigger vehicle/trailer and do it all in a oner? (maybe there's not the space or they won't let you?)
  18. Larch IMO https://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/FR_BEC_Wood_as_Fuel_Technical_Supplement_2010.pdf/$FILE/FR_BEC_Wood_as_Fuel_Technical_Supplement_2010.pdf
  19. Worth having a read of the Pepipoo forums for advice PePiPoo: Helping the motorist to get justice
  20. Maybe if the fence was more open and you could see through it (ie mesh) the neds/whatever would be less likely to hang around there?
  21. You can check the previous MOT's (and therefore mileages) for free on the .gov website. Doesn't mean it's not been clocked in the first 3 years though!! Also for fords you can run the reg through etis https://www.etis.ford.com/ to see what spec it left the factory with I bought a new van last month after looking through hundreds and hundreds online. I couldn't believe the number that had failed a previous MOT on lightbulbs! do people not check these things If like me you're on a limited budget I think in some ways you just have to take plunge and buy something that's not great and do what work you find is needed
  22. I think both the AA and the RAC say in the small print it's for personal use only, not business, but I've never had a problem being recovered, even in a signwritten van with trailer. Costs about £100 a year for roadside relay recovery etc and that includes cover for the other half in any car she's in! Make sure you buy it through a cashback website and swap from AA to RAC every year for the new customer price!!
