  1. Not helped by the RET though eh?
  2. What I don't understand is, the Scottish government want to lower air passenger duty, but introduce a tourist tax? As someone who never gets on a plane, that tax should be raised
  3. As she's road reg'd, just drive her on to the ferry in stronoway, few quid saved there There's a story of a local guy "back in the day" who drove an old JCB 3c 100-odd miles home. Apparently he went up to get it with his van & bicycle. He would do a few miles at a time, then cycle back to get the van and leapfrog the JCB, and so on. Bike was carried in the van or the front bucket of the JCB
  4. There's many ways to go about things, and nothing is ever perfect. But for the price of the tracked Italian machine, you could probably buy a brand new cs100 and brand new muck truck to tow it with, have spare change, and a chipper that will go most places, not rip up the lawn, and a carry all your other gear (saw, fuel, pies etc) in the skip of the barrow.
  5. I like the fact he goes off the road, impaling himself on the snow gate, and his first reaction is to take photos to list it on gumtree, before even turning the headlights off
  6. When I say collected, I mean winched https://www.gumtree.com/p/seat/car-ditched-cant-afford-to-fix-but-most-likely-a-write-off/1328876262
  7. If you cut a lot of thinner logs, consider a circular saw bench
  8. Al that looks a belter, looks like it would be out of my budget though!
  9. It's a long shot, but does anyone on here have a tipper or a dropside (non tipping) body for a 3.5t for sale? Got a single cab Renault Master with a rotten tipper box. I'm sure a Transit or whatever one could be made to fit? I'm not too fussed if it tips or not Could do a deal with the old tipper ram, pump etc (works fine) if you were doing a conversion
  10. You are more likely to have bother when filling up at a supermarket. Some people believe that petrol from a supermarket isn't quite as good (doesn't have as many additives?). Either way, I don't buy petrol from a supermarket.
  11. If you want £60 off = https://www.topcashback.co.uk/aviva-van-insurance/ (it will take months to appear in your account though) For me, NCB doesn't seem to make any difference, full or none. Never had a claim in my life, but you can only use it on 1 policy at a time
  12. It's not ideal due to the thickness, but planning on building another log shed this year, and will try cladding in used scaffold boards as seem to have a good source for them
  13. For material, it would be whatever you can get locally for a good price, which for me would be 2nd grade larch boards 150x22, though the size can vary by a few mm each way
  14. Never bought it, but I'm sure the local timber suppliers do a phenolic plywood for about £25-£30, 8x4 sheets though
  15. It would be one thing to smash up the bosses car or whatever, but to try and demolish part of building with lads working inside, and take away their wage, is something else.
  16. In one of the videos he goes straight over a pile of joiner's power tools, they will be sub contractors, no tools = no work for them. Also a lot of other guys might now lose pay as their section of work won't have been "signed off". Not to mention the fact he was trying to demolish the supporting pillars, with people inside the building
  17. Here's a longer one, think someone said something about him taking pills
  18. Here's a better video of the nutcase who took the digger You would be pretty gutted if you were one of the other guys there, seeing your handiwork that you're just finished being smashed up
  19. Is black a good colour to go for? It will show every imperfection, and seems to get dirtiest the quickest. (pics aren't in a file format I can view)

Saw this and thought of this thread
  21. If you get really stuck there is a fantastic sawmill at Strathpeffer, that will be near your 100 miles away. There's also a guy at Dalcross that sometimes advertises on gumtree (never dealt with him) Both do larch.
  22. Ironically when I was browsing ebay the other day I spotted this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ingemex-dropside-body-new-unused-body-3-8m-x-2-1m-peugeot-boxer-1100-VAT/113420907080 "Year 2018 body, fitted to a new chassis cab for the purpose of getting it through an IVA test only, then removed. Never carried a load, never been used for anything other than the test."

    Petrol mix

Most of the cheap Chinese engines say a 25:1 mix, but on a good quality oil 50:1 is fine.
  24. Another option is chipping into tonne bags, and maybe moving them with a cart like this : https://www.tcfengineering.co.uk/brash-cart.html Or using the tall skinny barrow bags (similar size to a wheelie bin) and moving with a sack barrow.

    Pensions

When's retirement age? I know self employed guys in their 70s/80s. One guy is 90 this spring and still working.
