    Ply in rain

Nevermind vinyl, just give it a few coats of oil based gloss paint
  2. I like to be able to stand up inside, this'll depends on your height, I'm just under 6ft. I built a camper out of a SWB med roof front wheel drive Transit - this is just big enough to stand up in, but has a similar length to an estate car so good turning circle and can park in a normal space (just). I kept it fairly basic, fixed double bed, unit/cupboard, diesel night heater, inverter, microwave, portable gas stove. Single passenger seat in the front so you can walkthrough, and single belted crew van seat in the rear. Flettner vent and foil insulation on the roof to stop condensation but keep headroom. No chemical toilet as they take up a fair bit of space, and most importantly I have no means to empty one

    Ply in rain

As I understand it, the only advantage marine has over wbp is it's resistance to salt water
  4. If you want a more storm proof poly tunnel look up "polycrub"
  5. Surely the answer would be a fan running directly off a solar panel - so therefore only runs when it's sunny!!
  6. Anything's possible! Yesterday I managed to pull an old diesel engine (weighing a few hundred kg) out of some undergrowth, onto a track barrow, drive it in the back of the van, then unload again at the scrappys. On my own of course!
  7. Can you not modify the oxdale splitter, different valve if you want auto return. Always thought the curved splitting heads on the oxdales looked a bit strange?
  8. There's someone with a mobile mill in Wester Ross, think it's a woodmizer.
  9. So they don't live in/next to the woodland already? I wonder if in a few years time they will be asking for planning permission for accommodation, on the basis they need to keep an eye on their 'livestock'?
  10. Sell them.... folks (like me) are always after cheap 2nd hand windows and doors for shed projects etc!
  11. Just to take this thread to the other end of the scale, here's my wee machine. Small and light enough to be carried in the back of a transit I got it a few months ago, involved a road trip crossing 2 borders as the machine was in Wales. She's a bit tatty, but should do me a turn. Pulling out a chain link fence with her today.
  12. I remember downloading it on dial up internet
  13. Is the jolly roger cookbook still doing the rounds?!
  14. You need a better splitter......

  16. An elderly friend was telling me it's been hard to get her normal (wood pellet) cat litter, petsathome etc were/are sold out. There's quite a few new build homes, especially the housing association type, with pellet heating.
  17. Reminds me of this story from a couple of years ago... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-33510639
  18. If it's just for ivy, would you not get away with a good set of loppers? Cut up to 2" thick?
  19. Not had a chance to try it out yet, but I wonder if a set of timber tongs would be much use on the end of a mini digger?
  20. There is a hedge cutter attachment for chainsaw bars that you can get, hardly worth buying just for this one hedge though!
  21. Big rings of noble fir, in the rain of course!
  22. Just wondering, where did you get the Omeo Gum seeds from? This country or abroad? Are they easy to germinate?

    Snowblower

Same as a shovel though, once it's driven on you've had it For snow, get the best blower you can, the husky 580 is one of the biggest (and heaviest!)
  24. I would say get well set up with the wood for your own use first, you will need plenty of it to run a log boiler, you need to build up a few years supply.
