  1. Cheers spud, so if the plug started to track through the insulator, how would this affect the saw. What would it run like
  2. Hi, can i please ask a question. This may sound dumb to some but i am very very green when it comes to repairs. Can someone please explain how a spark plug works, and the ways in which in can fail and the various results of it failing. I am still having problems with my makita 4300. I have fitted a new coil ( as told it needed one by the 'professionals', thats done nothing, i have ran it with all the gubbins removed from the exhaust, done nothing. The saw starts up and runs fine for a few minutes, but then under throttle it starts sort of backfiring, not running right and even had a few sparks coming from the exhaust. If i turn the saw off, leave it a few minutes then i can start it it again as normal and then the same thing happens over and over again. I dont understand how or why it starts normally then goes haywire. I know its 'only' a makita, but its the first trouble its given me and i would really like to get the saw up and running again, but also learn about the saw as well. Sorry for the long post Harvey.
  3. Thanks for this, seen some nice chisels.
  4. Yes 200 deep, 25 wide and 100mm long.
  5. The hole needs to be 200x110x25. I've always fancied a makita chain morticer, but dont really have the work to justify the expense. Besides, i fancy some new chisels.
  6. At work i have been given a task to do to replace a load of fire doors, each door has a pneumatic door closer on it that fits 7" deep into the door and are a total pain to do. Hence why i have decided on treating myself to some decent chisels.
  7. Hi, this week i have just signed a permanent contract after working for 3 years on temp ones. So i want to treat myself. I would like some decent framing / paring / mortice chisels. I need them to be able to clean out mortices of 8 inch depth. i like the look of the long framing chisels, but are they any good for morticing as well. I'd also like them to be decent looking but tough and hardwearing as well, and be able get either a set or in different individual sizes. I hope this makes sense. Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks
  8. I wouldnt mind the tories, but with a touch of ukip. Just hate the idea of labour/snp.
  9. I've also got a mak 9010, big powerful old school saw. Dont use it much, but it will handle almost anything you can throw at it.
  10. what will you buy first with all your winnings jon, an air rifle or a pick up or a generator or something else ???????
  11. Bloody brilliant :bowdown::congrats:
  12. Loving the horse and cart on the first pic, my daughter would love that. Lovely work.
  13. You are one of a kind jon, warm and welcoming, i love reading your posts, even if my head hurts afterwards.
  14. As elfinwoods says, that foden could be turned into a nice first wagon for you with a bit a work. Also he's thinking along the same lines as me, fastrac and trailer.
  15. Damn it !!! Missed it again.
  16. Did anyone see the tracked quad, in the small farming heros section. Anymore info on it, just interested. And can i join the tree hugging with Ellie queue.
  17. Have a look at the chainsaw photo thread. Shavey put one up recently of an efco, looked ideal for milling.
  18. I fully recomend the berlingo, ive got the newer shaped multispace and love it. Had the original style berlingo and that was a good workhorse, and also had a citroen c15 diesel for 9 years and never let me down mechanicly, If want something original, if you look hard enough you could pick up a cheap c15 moterhome conversion, ideal for what you want.
  19. Holly hell Shavey, you have just given my 9010 an inferior complex
  20. there are very few small 4x4 vans about, dont think the kangoo comes in van form with the 4x4, it is the people carrier. i know dihatsu did one, and subaru. There are plenty on here that just use a jimny with the seats down.
  21. As above, just relax and enjoy. Remember your course tutor and examiner are both there to help and guide you.
  22. I have worked all my life, struggled with bills etc when the going was rough, but have survived, and still got a few years yet of paying the mortgage of my house which i had to pay full market value for. How can it be fair that social housing tenants can now buy their rented house for just 30% of the market value. I just dont understand the meaning of it. Going by that notion would i be in the right to expect my bank to return overpaid mortgage payments. I understand the need to help people onto the property ladder, but this in my mind is just another kick in the teeth to people that work hard to have what they have and to of had to pay full price for.
  23. Why not just try it, it is a common adjustment on bars.
