  1. Working with the council, i got nailed to the floorboards in empty houses on numerous occassions, even had a broom handle shoved thru my coat sleaves then got chucked out of a bedroom window which left me wedged there. Good times.
  2. Wow ! pure class ! Have any more photos of varying stages ?
  3. Ive just got a makita 9010, it runs a 28 with ease, with plenty more power to go bigger if needed.
  4. When it comes to cutters, i just get whatever takes my fancy at the time. The quality of cutters vary wildly. Sometimes a £20 cutter is not as good as a £5 cutter, if you get my drift.
  5. Your better off with proper rebate cutters, you can manage with straight cutters but there not as good.
  6. Hi paul, i use them occasionally to sharpen my chains, i find them handy to have. I have just started another thread about the quality of the stones dont seem to be very good.
  7. Hi, I sometimes use a dremel to sharpen my chains, but i am getting increasingly frustrated at the poor quality and cost of the sharpening stones i get ( oregon ). Does any one know where i can get some diamond ones from, and will they last any longer. Also i notice that the granberg sharpening stones are similar but with a thread on the end, will these stones fit the dremel and are they any better. I'm not really interested in buying another sharpener, i just want some decent longer lasting stones for my dremel, if thats possible. thanks Harvey.
  8. Hi Andy, i love the saw :thumbup:but hate the solid nosed bar:thumbdown:. I'm running the saw as it came at the mo with original solid bar and multi cut chain. Carnt wait to get a 28" sprocket bar on it and standard chain. Unless you know a better combo. I normally use either oregon or stihl chains. Harvey.
  9. I've only got two, a makita ea4300 on a 15" and a makita dcs9010 which will have a 28" on when i get round to it. Would like a dolly 6100 sometime in the future as well.
  10. Just had a look in machine mart, you can get a tidy looking bosch one for £90, or a clarke one for £48, both not bad deals for a starter one.
  11. I have refused a few times to work on roofs that i deemed to dangerous, even tho on one job there were a few polish workers working on it. I took one look and said not a chance. No safety netting or anything. I got finished at the end of the week. Didnt worry me because at the end of the day its my health not theirs, and i would do it again.
  12. I got told the other day by a farmer that also runs a shoot, that the best value pickup in basic workhorse guise is the wonderful great wall stead. He said it was all fully galvanised and comes with a 7 yr warrenty. He has got 2 for the shoot and says they are bang on.
  13. I have 2 makita routers, one 1/4 and one 1/2 ", both get used for different jobs, and i wouldnt mind the single handed one as well, as well as a router table. Routers are a very useful tool. Both my routers are over 10 yrs old and still going strong. Personally i think its just down to personal preference when it comes down to brand. But if your doing doors and windows then you need a 1/2 for sure. I would buy new as well, even if its a cheaper brand to start off with.
  14. Been bad all week with the dreaded cold thats going around. Just getting back to normal now, been catching up on a few jobs in the garage. Whiskey time now.
  15. Really like the timber framing chisels, not really got the use for them, but they do look the part. Just need an excuse and the funds.
  16. I find a good 1/2 hr workout with kettlebells, is a real sod of a workout. The beauty of kettle bells is that your not stuck to a rigid workout and you can make up your exercises.
  17. David, i would recommend a small hatchback / estate car and small trailer to start with. It doesnt have to be big and flash, just some thing cheap and cheerfull to get you started. One vital point tho, if you are just doing your driving test (good luck), you wont be able to tow a trailer, you need to do another test first.
  18. Just listen to what the instructors say, relax and enjoy.
  19. Very nice, i keep wanting to get round to replacing my garage door.
  20. Hi Steve, really like your work. Do you know of any good books that tells you what the best timber to use for any given project, i've started playing around at making a few bits but only in pine ( and scaff boards ) lol, and its an area i really do need to brush up on. cheers.
  21. Hi, i believe this mod is quite a common one on the 6400. I think the guy at tcf engineering does this mod to new dolmars.
