  1. Just looking at my renewal thats come through and as you say no new for old on items with arborisk.... Been with them 6 years or so..... No claims in my entire time as a tree surgeon either. Never offered to keep new for old either. I said so I have to pay out 500.00 excess for you to say my 5 year old saw is worth 100.00? they said well its for if all your saws go etc.... bit false economy to me. Quote wasnt cheaper with it not being ner for old either which you thought it may well be as its lesser cover! Also interesting bit is that even on site and trailer or chipper is locked onto truck. you MUST fit a wheel clamp at all times. what a ball ache... so not just putting a chain on it to the truck... other wise void claim. I already consider my insurance to be dear enough! Trust seems a lot better policy but dearer still! over the 2k mark for me with plant etc All this to earn a living ey? lol
  2. Could do with knowing myself as have a head i’d like to repair
  3. Right.... look at a new husq 365xp on f r jones site.... 560.00 odd inc 4 spare chains on a 20” bar.... brand new saw! there is a mod to make it into a full blown 372.... its the same cc etc 70 cc
  4. Rocking any stem.... bad news. School boy error. Hope he gets sorted and it doesnt go the other way for him! Also i quite often take the middle out of the hinge on larger tree’s dependant on job situation of course just to pull it over easier.
  5. Still got it Mick? Thiught it would have gone after the mutlione purchase
  6. What kind of rollers and design do they run Mick? cone shaped rollers and that the top roller comes up in an ark not straight up and down? How many springs on the top rollers?
  7. Id have loaded some of them back in the truck and took them back scrappers a month later! Bastards
  8. Jeez thats a mortgage! Need some decent turnover and big outfit to pay that a month..... Id strap myself up and buy somewhere over paying that pcm
  9. I bought a 50m 25 or 27mm polysteel rope ages ago for pulling trees over etc with the tractor. Decent rope just bulky but does job well
  10. Is it a simple replace part job this fuel solenoid? and then it should be ok? No reset on computer etc? My local dealer had the saw in for 5-6weeks last time..... then its still not right. They say they've not heard about the solenoids and said better to buy a battery saw lol Great advice ey? Left saw i bottom of box for now and bought another pre mtronic one as my main or spare depending which saw i take with me. Cant be doing with saws in for 5-6 weeks at a time!
  11. Same sort of setup on a jensen with regards to the hyd tank i suspect.... the tank is litterally under the chip chamber and the sides and bottom of the chip chamber make part of the tank up
  12. Is yours 8t Paul? And was it farma crane? 4.6m?

Nope, totally untouched. Dont play about with saws just use them.... then the breathers eventually start to wheep
  14. Think i’d be wanting a 8t trailer going off your pics John dont need nor want anything that big
  15. Want to be able to bring it back and stack it nicely rather than in a grain trailer and tip it out into a mess on the floor to clean up
  16. More for work on estates/ woodlands and agg land. Wouldnt be thinnings. Mainly tree removal of all different sizes. Chunky bits i’d have to lift on with front loader.
  17. Looking at getting a timber trailer soon. Trying to think of as many things as I can with regards to needs etc.... This is to be used behind a 100hp 4wd tractor. I want something small enough for access but a decent enough crane.... or would I regret the smaller trailer 8t vs 11t? Also most have the 12.5 15.3 tyres on the normal agg ones.... is it better to go for the bigger floatation ones? Would it be wise to go for a de mount one to go on 3pl aswell? May be upgrading to a larger 130+ hp tractor soon..... The thing is I dont want to end up with a huge setup you struggle to get in places. Current tractor has 65lpm hyd flow so weather this is ok or go down pto route? Whats the rough unlaiden weight of the 8t and 11t trailers? Also must be braked aswell! Any advice? Many thanks
  18. Ive ran allsorts. Had an ldv convoy tipper and was a great motor. Had a crew cab iveco with 2.8ltr engine that was really heavy when empty and wouldnt pull skin off a rice pudding! Ran a 56plate transit for the last 4.5 years and it was one hell of a works motor! Recently changed and bought a 66 plate Renault master tipper. Great truck. Amazing how better vehicles can be when a lot newer.

Correct on position but those breathers are shite! Must have replaced 4 on my older saw and maybe 1 on the mtronic one..... that saw currently resides in bottom of saw box as is a pos!!
  21. Poor old abandoned Kwikchip
  22. Appreciate that Jules. I will be sticking in the works to the "hedge" on the works schedule with the other tpo tree's there are to work on, was looking for clarification and thoughts of others. It would be great if the T.O was approachable. We get on very well with all the other councils / T.O's we deal with and even do works for them.
  23. A hedge... When does a hedge become a row of tree's? I'm talking with regards to working in conservation area's etc. We do work in one area where the council is a real pain! As far as i'm concerned if its a hedge we shouldn't need to give notification and wait 6-8 weeks for them to mess me and the clients about! If its small scale hedges etc I'm ok we just crack on.... Just when they start getting larger you start to wonder if there is a cross over hedge to row of tree's. Just to point out that we are fine with regards to this with other councils and areas and don't have to notify.... Its just this one council in particular that are painful to deal with and would most likely ask for notification of intent of works! I also have a large row of tree's / hedge / screen (conifers) within a con area, tucked away from road etc..... approx 60' tall require reducing down to approx 40' as far as i'm concerned I'd class this as a lapsed hedge.... T.O has said that the reducing of them would be fine..... Still I don't think we need to notify them..... I haven't spoken to the T.O just customers. T.O doesn't seem to like to answer the phone to contractors! Whats your thoughts? When is a hedge a hedge or when is it a row of tree's?
  24. I’ll give it a try if i ever get some spare time
