  1. will go look them up cheers guss. now part of irvine group so may not be so great
  2. thanks treequip thats a great offer! currently the cooler sits in a carrier which is in front of a engine driven fan inbetween engine and pump so gets plenty of cooling. i almost think overcooled but somebody more clever on that kinda stuff may correct me.
  3. thats also an option if i could find a good custom maker so i can just send sizes/old one to them to replace. any suggestions for that also welcome.
  4. Hi Can anyone help me find somebody who will repair an oil cooler for log splitter, no brand info as its a home built machine off ebay. oil cooler is leaking a little, only 2 years old so no corrosion etc. willing to post in uk. or anyone who makes custom ones to size? cheers david
  5. got ours on tonight
  6. at those prices i would bite the guys hand off for dixon bates one
  7. Having had two hernias in two years i can honestly say taking the time to heal properly is best thing you can do. if you are carrying any excess weight before surgery try to loose it because it sure helps healing proccess and get out for walks soon after to try and stretch out muscles, even if just lil walks in morning and evening it sure helps break up day. dont rush back to work - the second op hurts more due to pre existing scar tissue.
  8. If its on ee network then I can recommend not doing it. After weeks of grief am back to orange proper. Do a google search on connection issues etc from orange to ee
  9. The. Strauss ones are good..my knees love the pads. Sizing is a lil weird but returns policy is amazing
  10. berberis. depending on when its trimmed will give some flower and the spikes will sure deter people. not to mention it seems unkillable so makes a nice hedge plant
  11. wondering how everyone puts in their fence strainer posts. assume hand dig hole and options available postcrete/concrete - fill with whatever came out - stones to lock in - hardcore - chip and dust. personally i go for either concrete or fill with chip and dust, pack in as tight as possible very thin layers at a time. just wondering as work has recently done some strainers and they are more mobile than a mobile thing, done with stones lobbed in around and assured as ground dries out will tighten up. so either i do slow way and take too long or new work method is best and i should try it
  12. a good looked after 300tdi defender would be lovely, get it on a galv chassis and its perfect. i have had 200 tdi and 300 tdi discos and now a td5 defender for last 5 years or so, only electronic trouble the td5 ever given was moisture problems setting off alarm. turned out to be water in interior lights and hey they are linked to alarm system so makes it cross. get water issues sorted, replace interior lights at dirt cheap prices and bye bye electrical issues. td5 is lovely work truck especially if chipped and on decent suspension like terrafirma heavy duty kit
  13. we have to stick to the vibration levels on our kit, coded red, orange, yellow, green. red is things like 4.5 inch grinder and thats an hr per day max and then cant touch another machine all day. green is all day kit. all has to be recorded and too many overs and you have to explain it - however its totally open to employee honesty and its abused by many on daily basis, ie well book says i can use this saw 4hrs so i just write down 4 and not the real 6 hrs, nobody checks it. although work saw is yrs and yrs old and has only had 2 av mounts in its life. gets hammered by several users so doesnt lead a good life. supposed to be tested every year but data just gets made up to ensure we can keep using it. so all in all i would say changing mounts every service is madness.
  14. just had this problem with my gx340. carb was stripped and put through ultrasonic by dealer, all settings tried and re tried and no joy. he took a carb off another engine and problem solved so i bouught a new carb at just over £100, all sorted. apparently he has had a few of these in last year and all same.
  15. hmm over there on sat, may have to pop in and see how much 5 litres of two stroke is
  16. if you could get them for say a tenner total, he helps with all work and all brash stays where it hits the ground then for domestic firewood its a nice lil top up. couple years ago i bought twelve birch standing in a field to fell for logs. all brash stayed on site. got trailer alongside them once felled and was 5 mins from home. kept mother in logs for a month or three. i was chuffed at 30 quid. so somebody will more than likely buy them i reckon.
  17. inverurie garden centre would be handy, over there every few weeks so would do for saws
  18. hi gardenkit do you have a up to date dealer locator link for aberdeenshire postcode ab31 5qe
  19. work has been using the arco rubberised grippy ones for years and ok on price, do a decent while and ok. this last year we have been using the strauss version and they are god awful, the rubberised stuff literally falls off the gloves in a week and then its useless. apparently we are ordering some strauss winter gloves now so will post up review against the tegera ones clarks sell once i get a pair. would say in terms of cheap cheerful grippy gloves arco are better.
  20. you will be fine if its burning in a woodstove with ok flue, ie doesnt fill room with smoke when you open door. as an estate we have burnt many many tons of the stuff and all still here, both on woodstoves for home and on bonfire pile to get rid of it. far as i understand burning leaves is worst part and if put through chipper and left in piles then raking the piles around by hand a week or so later isnt fun!
  21. if flowfit cant help then definetly find a good local blacksmith who will be able to source parts. a tapered gear/splined coupling/matching gear on pump isnt out of ordinary. as for can engine do it - yes. i run one of these, its a lil slow due to huge ram for splitting and small hydraulic tank so when ram fully out tank is virtually empty. i run with a small oil cooler to ensure it doesnt do any harm but its a lil overkill. although slow it hasnt failed to split every log i put in front of it yet, has demolished the previous owners welds so that can be a issue, huge ram equally mad force. good luck with it though.
  22. never used flowfit but just looked at their parts info and it shows same style parts as my unit running. so phoning them and speaking to somebody technical will do it. they have the splined couplings to connect from drive to pump, ie on end of engine shaft you will need to fit a gear, now they are bound to have one for tapered shaft and then this coupling goes ontop of that to take drive to pump shaft which will have a gear also, may need to match splines etc but its exactly how mine is done. so what you will need is diamater of tapered shaft, keyway size on engine and then same for pump. somebody clever and technical on other end of phone and away you go. failing that a good local blacksmith will easily sort for you, shame you werent closer to me or my local would have it done in a heartbeat supplying the lot.
  23. look up david bowyer and give him a call - make sure you have spare time as he sure can chat (in a great way) and he will get it sorted.
  24. ron sure is an amazing guy. had him as a lecturer and assesor over years and learned loads oh and fave saw is 357xp
  25. buxtons machinery - do a google search. i bought a honda from there a while ago and depot in england somewhere couldnt have been more helpful! good on all aspects.
