  1. have to admit i am thinking barmaid photos missing.....
  2. wish my work would try aspen, last two days doing hedges (goes for 2 months but been on other jobs) and all i can say is stinking horrible hedge cutters on normal two stroke mix. oldest machine was new in 2012 and other new this year so not an old wreck, yukk and more yukk.
  3. liked it
  4. with current tractor we just cut into five foot lengths and load with tractor loader into trailer, long as either you got a helper to roll log into bucket or something to gently nudge against its very productive. would love forks for it but cant convince work its good idea. the lil kubota in pictures is only 24hp, fraser trailer is almost 17 years old now, done well really, one set of tyres, one ram and a sheet of steel for floor have been repairs, modification was changing from a conventional drawbar to a ring for pickup hook. its now towed by 45hp john deere
  5. amazing what you can load into a trailer with just a tractor and loader though, either with a chain round log and a hook welded onto back of bucket or a set of forks. i have another photo on phone but its battery is flat, will try to pop up later.
  6. as far as the engine goes as long as air intake is well clear of water no worries there, keep revs up to ensure no stall. wont do any harm to pull all connections on electrics apart first and give a good dose of white grease to help keep water out. do check oil after to ensure no water got in.
  7. use a stihl fs480 for the last few years at work and its great. used to run it with the brogio chain heads before they got banned, run it with the 4mm jetcut blade type nylon and used a chainsaw tooth blade on it, never once felt it wasnt able to cope.
  8. good luck with that, oh and if you like other meats i can recommend their venison - see if you can get some from the mar lodge lot
  9. have you tried sheridans in ballater?
  10. always found with a dead elm from ded if you can safetly leave standing dead for a year first it makes incredible firewood, lovely and dry and splits good. can be hard as hell to split once seasoned a while but worth it. tried once splitting freshly dead green logs and was horrible stringy stuff didnt split nice at all but a lot less effort on splitter.
  11. yew is slower stuff to clip we have found, way we do is one pass with cutter, brush off with a garden cane to raise up all lil bits and do again, depending on hedge repeat and then move on. so slow but sure. cutters need to be good and sharp or it tears and looks rough. the cancer drug extracted is tamoxifen (best guess on spelling) and its a hassle with clippings. you need some kind of tarpaulin down first to make sure you catch them and keep product clean, then a good area to keep them spread out and cool/dry so clippings dont compost or else worthless and hold them until who ever you are selling them to can be in area to collect and then value is only calculated on weight when loaded into their van. its one of these things that if product ie clippings didnt go to such a worthwhile cause would be massively easier just to rake up/skip but worth the extra hassle and i can honestly say the money given for sale you barely break even so i am told.
  12. can honestly recommend the combination of the cut and climb and going for berghaus waterproof trousers, in store around 50, on line around 40. i have two pairs of trousers and one cut and climb and its great.
  13. two hernias in two years, boy the 2nd one hurt more and the drugs sure backed things up a lot!!!!! so avoiding at all costs if possible is wise
  14. dont know if they will do it or not but look up kenny paterson, k and i paterson i belive, chimney sweep in lumphanan. i know they have a processor and do stoves etc so may be some work ian would take on. mention got name from david at crathes.
  15. mad thunder and lightening storm in aberdeenshire last night, we had from around 1-4am and torrential rain. cloudy and humid in morning then scorching sun in afternoon
  16. thats what i thought it meant. to be honest if it had been nearer i would have been making an effort to find out as thats a nice price.
  17. unless i am reading this wrong the for sale was a load for £40 - didnt specify what size of load, so for example could i have turned up with 10x6 trailer and loaded it it neck and handed over £40?
  18. dropped to a truly lovely 16c here today from a week of 26/27c but supposed to get hot again so that sucks
  19. if you were nearer i would be there no bother with cash. mixed in with hardwood for my family use and its perfect. but sadly the hundreds of miles and out of luck.
  20. bt are a nightmare, after an event at work we hired in somebody with a solid corer on back of tractor to decompact lawns. day or two after that phones went a lil loopy, turns out bt cable was barely an inch down so corer hit it like 100 plus times. much to and fro and from memory we didnt pay for repair, seems should have been a tad deeper than below turf
  21. caant remember who work uses to supply our t shirts sweatshirts and fleeces but they are god awful. fall apart in no time. for trousers they use engelbert strauss and sooo much better apart from one tiny niggle that the belt loops tear off easily or it could be just me in and out of tractor a couple dozen times a day but seem unkillable generally
  22. well i took a punt today and phoned irvines in aberdeen who now own aberdeen radiators and they seemed happy to look and apparently can fix anything - so will see! waiting on a call back in next day or so with verdict. failing that cheers global will give them a call. funny cause when i spoke to irvines two years ago to get the rusty dead one replaced with this one they sure werent interested.
  23. will pop up pics tommorow and the couple part numbers on it - dont know which company so not much help i fear. i have nagging feeling i got from up near inverness somewhere - possibly a motorsport place but could be talking rubbish also.
  24. guessing irvines buy up good companies to be part of the group - sure means they can do a lot of different services - will give them a try all the same though.
  25. will go look them up cheers guss. now part of irvine group so may not be so great
