  1. i have a cut and climb jacket, dont climb so no experience in trees. spent time on mewps or scaffolds with it so up and down etc on scaffold. one of the very best features i love is the long back so when you bend over your back doesnt get exposed to rain/wind and so on. i have back issues so this affects me a lot and the difference between a normal jacket that rides up and the cut and climb that doesnt is huge! mine gets worn for logs, strimming, dragging brash, chipping and so on and i think its great.
  2. Having had 3 landies with a winch on each i would truly advise phoning david bowyer at superwinch, great guy and knows his stuff. also good at fixing them when you get too keen! i run 2 batteries and a split charge kit inbetween so when winching you dont hurt starting battery, made mistake first time and had single battery, cue a call to a mate for a jump start.
  3. if its a dry season and you dont mind some weight then kaaz mowers are ok, clumsy and heavy but take a knock ok. lot heavier than the toros i used to use but cheaper so work went for it.
  4. thats just what i did today to finish off. pulled choke
  5. Hoping dealer is around tommorow or its order off eBay and be at mercy of post, least its broken in on position. Good to know how switches locate so I don't kill new one. First ever broken switch for me.
  6. cool cheers for that
  7. so guess that means its just prise it out of saw body?
  8. Wonder if anyone can offer advice on how to replace a broken on/off switch on a 372xpg, saw is couple years old most. how does the switch fit, do i need special tool etc? Need to order new bit off somewhere and get saw fixed asap. local dealer shut. Cheers david
  9. talking of dogs and woodburners predator heres my dog lennie enjoying the heat of a bonfire on sun burning up some dead elm brash. he sure loved the warmth
  10. proper windy here, my power lines got clipped earlier by a birch with two tops, taking bets the other top/tree is gone by morning. did some windblow to open main drive on estate earlier in dark, 2 more drives checked and one blocked, other clear. bet different story by daylight. long as main drive clear in morning i can deal with rest on boxing day. reminds you how much fun windblow by car lights is, even if that is 4 x lites on roof of landy, pair of hella spotlights on bumper and uprated headlights.
  11. another vote for the plummers, good guys
  12. wow wish i was closer! you could stick on ebay and definetly make a few quid there.
  13. that looks like a pretty cool build predator, be good to see what it can split, although i get the feeling the answer is whatever you put on it! looks real strong. nice job!
  14. i recommend a makita too, the 18v 3amp li ion kit is amazing. best thing i bought was the combi set of drill and impact driver. goes and goes no worries
  15. one of the guys i know years ago used to phone in sick every day after pay day, trouble was the entire area had heard him coming home on estate so knew the 3am noise was pub home time, got old fast! boss eventually made him sign away a days annual leave every time it happened, soon stopped - guess better than a disciplinary hearing for false sick form. always worked on basis that from moment you arrive at yard to leave yard its paid time. up to boss if he had priced job an hour away or ten mins away.
  16. first use i see is firewood for sure, lots and lots of logs there!
  17. couple of different hedges we did. will try to remember and get more current pics of how they have recovered but all good and now trimmed yearly
  18. where i work we did some very old yew hedges and they have recovered almost to point of full cover inside 12 years. we only did one face at a time though. some pics to follow
  19. if i was a awful lot nearer, had good access etc i would most certinialy be starting offers at £50 to you, see what from there.
  20. done loads of elm with my splitter, out of hundreds of lumps one or two have been put to side and done by chainsaw. did once try some by maul - didnt mark it! best advice if you dont have a splitter is try to hire somebody with one in.
  21. doubt 250kg
  22. another vote for the cut and climb, i combine mine with lightweight berghuaus waterproof trousers over saw gear if needed. dry days for me. trousers only 40 quid online so a pair a year is fine.
  23. try jojam on here, may know some one
  24. had my 03 90 from aberdeenshire to peterbourgh and back before towing caravan. its comfy and great for distance after a couple mods, uprated transfer box for higher gears and heated seats for my knackered back. wouldnt drive anything else.
  25. wouldnt look at that without a chipper, hire if needed. lot of brash there. log sales would cover a days chipper hire.
