  1. having some courier nightmares at moment so top tips are, avoid parcel2go take good photos of item before packing, during packing and once packed. note materials used etc. cause if it then gets damaged you have lots of info for insurance on parcel claim. oh and last time i used parcel monkey service was good.
  2. and again for NFU had two claims in last 5 years with them, one when i was driving girlfriends car and was hit by third party up rear, using the third party cover i had at time and all sorted great. sadly a month or so ago i was idiot third party who rear ended a passat at low speed with my 90, my repairs are spot on and nfu have been magic. hoping they have treated poor sod i hit the same if not better. they have a great reputation and i always recommend them.
  3. berghaus ones, think aquafoil. good zips so on and off over boots and saw trousers no bother. i have two pairs as so great. one for work and one for first responder shifts.
  4. find a good local blacksmith and its job done.
  5. work has a 555 and honestly i dont love it much at all, always seems to be struggling to hit a max revs kind of note, never seems settled and just feels down on power. wouldnt buy one. suggest somebody like spud from on here see what he has second hand, at least it will come from reputaple person not junk off ebay. a good used 357 would be my choice every time.
  6. hi folks, my ex boss is looking for a contractor for a job in aberfoyle, ideally with an alpine type tractor and small wood trailer or other low ground pressure kit thats ok on slope to extract about 100 ton rhododendren, its all cut to about six foot lengths and stacked in bundles. needs moving to roadside. either to take all timber to roadside and stack or take all and leave 20 tons there, rest could be for taking! initially anyone interested can post here and i will forward on as he going away for a week next week. thanks david
  7. lil bump and thanks steve for showing me where my pc had hidden it.

  11. good work trousers then boilersuit and given the "presents" from dogs in some areas a pair of waterproof trousers over top sometimes using stihl fs480 strimmer with 4 line head for heavy line so really throws stuff
  12. we were between 80 and 90 metre, got there just after 6. looked like a good crowd for the night pull - oh man was that opening bangs of fireworks loud huh!
  13. hey guss didnt see you there sat night or i would have said hi! yep sure got slippery on surface, seeing baby bear the valtra go up and spinning wheels end to end showed it real well. reckon they would have had a better day today with drying wind on surface. were due for another tractor from south ice bear but it blew up with epic style at great eccleston on the sun in aug sadly - will be back on go 2015. the one to go to if you dont mind a run is at great eccleston in late aug, sat afternoon and into night pulling and then most of sun. this year the sat night went onto after 1am! it was a fantastic event and the heat on the sun was excellent. the club up here are just in their third year getting going as new club, lots of newer safety regs and costs to adhere to - so every ticket bought helps (mates in club). look up Scotlands Tractor Pulling Page's 2014 for more info on them. (hope the plug is ok steve?)
  14. so a thread bump here. had half the wood moved but company very busy and hasnt been able to get back in a few weeks, one company wont return calls or voicemails or text messages. now really could use this moved, so trying again to see if anyone local to banchory pops up. obviously no company names being used as i understand folks are busy and want to do bigger jobs that make better money.
  15. ahh to be able to rig garage door to some poachers mines (blank of course) and brightest flash bang type explosive device. see them never come back and real poo pants
  16. estate where i live had a huge old horse chestnut cut down years ago and everyone got a share of it, very hard twisted horrible stuff to split with axe/maul, however i had a large stove so got rings into dry and then cut into stove sized lumps with saw and would put in a lump at night to keep stove going all night long. bit of effort but kept house warm and saved better logs for rest of time. one or two other residents "dumped" their load of chestnut in woods to rot, needless to say i recovered the lot and it kept me cosy. but without some effort, big stove and getting it for free then yeah its worthless
  17. thanks spud, not sure any modification would be good for warranty on new saw, my oops. the 365 is x torq. 372 is xp. would be 18 inch bar on either. he ideally wants a nice simple saw, no auto tune etc. no tool less chain tensioners, just something with plenty of grunt for firewood, sometimes small sticks and others the full 18 inches and more. i dont want to influence him but get a wider opinion, however if it was my choice i would go for 372 as i love mine.
  18. slight hijack but a mate is selling an old 266 to upgrade to a newer saw and is torn between a 365 and 372. both for firewood duties and a little felling. so opinions?
  19. on the other hand where i work we discovered a scary huge wasp nest in roof space of tool shed, too well in and large for us to even think about spraying it in any kind of safety. we requested the boss get pest control out to deal with it as every time we worked in there with light on the wasps were getting grumpier and more keen on chasing us out, first two times we asked we were told maybe - its expensive (they are on a contract to do bait boxes etc anyway). eventually the boss gave in as we found another 4 nests that were a problem. now i ask if one of us had been attacked and stung many times would we have just said oh well or thought for sake of a few quid could have been prevented..... possibilitys of a claim then were a lot higher.
  20. sadly i fit into the home owner with padlocks group as i cant make mad changes here, ie no huge gates etc. bit of layers going on though. locked chain over entrance - local dog walkers knock on door if its down and i am not working in there, nosey but very kind lot. first shed has a steel framed door with bars inside so cant carry kit out through if you kick the timber in, then machine inside chained to structure twice with well built in bolts. trailer has hitch lock, wheel clamp and locking wheel nuts all wheels and huge chain deep into ground in concrete with rebar through it - jcb dug hole so its good and deep, thats more as an obvious detterent part. other shed has a tight fitting door with two good locks, stupid hince screws removed and replaced with dome headed bolts so cant take door off from outside too quickly. and last but not least - its all insured old for new so when it does happen it wont break me. note i am domestic user not a company. just lots of locks and stuff to slow down people so idiot neighbour who leaves lovely ifor williams with mesh sides etc sitting with no locks at all ever goes first,
  21. cooler here, had heating on for about an hour last two nights. I cant cope with the hot days we had but sure like it when above 10 in evening. Hope its a lot warmer when i am down at great eccleston this weekend - any members near there want to give a local weather forecast?
  22. seems strange nobody wants it. if it was in my area and a year ago i would have been mega keen on it, but through some good luck and generous local tree surgeons i am well sorted currently. surely with winter coming its an ebay bonanza with people looking for good price on logs.
  23. try roy cowie lbs in banchory, they have one.
  24. heat best you can then hit with freeze and release spray, repeat and try to slacken. worth the time and effort of at least a tin of spray and lots of heat. failing that most tyre places have gas torches and can really heat it. good impact rated socket and breaker bar, scaffold pipe and slow gentle but constant pressure, depending on direction of rotation get a trolley jack under end of bar and lift a bit, whack area around with hammer, lift a bit, whack, and so on. least if you try a mix of ideas then still cant move it, bugger is truly stuck and you wont feel bad when a garage hits it with inch drive gun and mega air supply!
  25. will pull it apart again and check that spud, take some pics to show state of mine. thanks for pm also so will check at same time. have blown out the oil pickup filter both ways so its clean. at least second bar on saw so has oiled in past, just seems to have lil phases where it wont oil. local dealer has had it in bits a few times to see what he can find. will look at these bits when it messes up again, after throwing oil pump in a tub of petrol for a good while last night seems ok now.
