  1. Just totalled up I've had 1 series 2a, 3 series 3's, 6 defenders and 5 discovery 1's including the one I'm still running and out of those I've scrapped 2 one was the 2a as it was before I learnt to weld and the other was one of the series 3's which was a British Leyland basket case and had only been bought for spares.
  2. Back ones wouldn't as it was so rotten the body twisted when you opened them so cut the back body off and made it into a pick up
  3. Yep had a daihatsu f50 at one point only for knocking about round the farm in was always worried it would disintegrate if I shut the door to hard 😁
  4. So many people knock landrovers and yet over 60% of all the ones ever built are still on the road which can't be said for any other make of 4x4, for long enough they were also the only one that could tow 3.5 ton, unfortunately they got a bad rep with the last of the series 3's built during the British Leyland period and then again during ford's ownership and then once owned by BMW who really only had interest in the discovery and ranger rover to expand thier slice of the luxury car market, I've owned plenty over the years my first being a 1968 series 2a and I'm now on my 4th or 5th discovery one not sure what I'll replace it with if I ever do because anything newer needs a degree in electrical engineering to do anything to them.
  5. Same here put them in the shed dry on a dry day go to deliver them and thier mouldy, resorted to putting a load in the workshop with the radiant heater on them were lovely and dry last night when I left got there this morning and wind and rain had got up over night and blown in under the double doors and soaked them.
  6. Definitely cherry
  7. Plenty of load space to carry a good supply of spares with you
  8. Not only eBay, I sold a saw on Gumtree the guy openly told me when he came to fetch it he had screwed his old saw by putting the wrong mix in it, fortnight later rang claiming had only run it for 40 minutes and now wouldn't start, I offered to take a look for him in case was something daft, when he bought it up I don't know what fuel he'd put in it but didn't smell of petrol, spent an hour messing with it only to find piston was scored so told him it was due to his fuel mix couple hours after he left he texted saying he wanted £100 back off me to put towards another saw!
  9. I'm a bit further away than Thompson, I'm up at Hulland Ward but if you still need a couple of bags give me a shout, 07974 197820, Ed
  10. 60p a stake here sawn softwood that's from the agricultural merchants. Bundles of 50.
  11. Had this a few years back on a fencing job, was told by the clients son under no circumstances was I to touch the neighbours fence as he was a nasty piece of work and looking for excuses to cause trouble, problem was I needed to get a new post tight up to the corner post on his so needed to break the concrete on the existing post, when the neighbour came out he was thoroughly reasonable and quite happy for me to do it even supplied us with tea and biscuits, the son of the client however on seeing what I'd done played he'll with me and reckoned the neighbour would use it as an excuse to cause more trouble, some days you just have to smile and nod
  12. Yep oldest trick in the book, if someone says this I tend not to even price it now as it usually means it's not worth the hassle, or alternatively price it high instead to cover inconvenience if they do go for it.
  13. 99.9p for unleaded at morrisons in belper other day didn't see what diesel was
  14. Be reet only thing I've found to stop the mulcher is carpet, took 2 of us a good two hours with penknives and side cutters to get it off.
  15. Mountains out of mole hills by some responses, it's simple give the neighbour a knock prior to starting, say your doing the work and explain you may need access to tidy up if anything falls over the fence, I'd say 9 times out of ten the neighbour will be fine to allow you access even if they don't get on with your client.
  16. Give an estimate not a quote, or if you want to quote and have any suspicions with regard to the tree put extra on in the first place, that way if it's a pia your covered and if it's straight forward you have the option to knock some money off the bill.
  17. I've got an old marlin undercover in .22 rim fire, only time I've had trouble with ricochets was using eley subsonic through it, they are slightly heavier than the Winchester super x I usually use and have even had them ricochet of a rabbits head without killing it. Drop silencer off and put some stingers through it and it's fine for foxes at a reasonable distance.
  18. Went to see Jethro not long after the original incident, he said the only mistake Tony Martin made was that he didn't get the other one, got the biggest cheer of the night. It is ridiculous that in this country criminals have more rights than thier victims, if you find some thieving scum poking around your house or yard on a night they deserve all they get.
  19. Been affecting me since summer, made no hay this year due to the wet weather so was down a lot of money coming into winter, still waiting for parts to come for hedge flail too but if do come now it's too wet to get on the ground to do it .
  20. The 85-100hp bracket is an expensive one in the secondhand tractor market, you'll usually get a better deal on one above 100hp and there's usually more choice, most of the deeres will still be going strong but will still hold good money with 10000 hrs plus on them, older ford's look out for cross block engine as these are less likely to have porosity problems, smaller kubotas are a bit light for handling hedgecutter etc, older cases, 885,895 etc are good value usually.
  21. The confusion over red and white diesel does not apply to agricultural or not per se but is defined by hire and reward, ie if you were hauling timber for your own use or as part of an extraction job you can use red but if you were specifically hauling timber with a tractor for someone else it becomes hire and reward and you should drain your tank change filters and refill with white.
  22. These and my mini drone
  23. To be fair he said it was first time he'd had to park on the road in months and only had some cheap tools left in, he's a mobile engineer so too much to take everything out every night.
  24. It's not good, got done over about twelve years ago, twice in 6 months, they didn't get anything second time as was under insured the first time by a long way so hadn't replaced much stuff, brother got his van done 2 nights ago, apparently is someone going round the area with a transit master key so can just let themselves especially in and help themselves to what the y want
  25. Good firewood but split it green else your axe will bounce clean off when seasoned same as elm
