  1. Not the best pics as was a tad windy today but found a bramble in flower and Hazel with catkins on it already.
  2. It's what I got sent with that day, it was that or 365 on an 18 inch bar, was a big old oak that had an open rot pocket right up the front so was easier to do it with the big saw so both sides of the gob were level.
  3. You certainly know about it when you have to put a gob in at chest height with a 3120 on a 3ft bar
  4. Plenty of places in the UK I still haven't seen and seen some beautiful places in Wales and Scotland and would settle for somewhere in Yorkshire but truth is wherever I go I always end up back in the shire
  5. Can't find it at the minute most statistics I can find are vague on how they were compiled or are from pro or anti gun lobby's so not exactly unbiased.
  6. Only the local authority can legally impose parking fines, have a look on consumer action group website and there's a letter template you can send them explaining the finer points to whoever has sent you the ticket
  7. I'm not sure if this is still the case but at one time Japan had the strictest gun laws in the world and the highest level of gun crime by head of population and we had the second strictest gun laws and the second highest level of gun crime by head of population.
  8. You highlight a good point here that is usually ignored by the media and the none shooting public and politicians, instead of differentiating between legal and illegal firearms they take the easy route and restrict legal gun ownership when it is illegal guns that are the problem, although truth is a gun is an inanimate object so it needs a person with intent behind it to cause a problem.
  9. Hi Elg, no didn't phrase that very well, I don't think automatic weapons have ever been legal for personal protection although before the end of ww1 I think you could carry handguns for personal protection after the war the government were worried about unrest so began to restrict legal gun ownership, fully automatic weapons are now banned in the UK, you can have a semi automatic shotgun up to 3 shot on a shotgun licence but if you want one with more expensive capacity it has to go on a firearms licence, think semi auto rifles are only allowed up to .22 rim fire and licences renewed every 5 years, just sent my renewal in.
  10. You could before Dunblane and Hungerford hold handguns and automatic weapons for target shooting, personal protection use was limited to northern Ireland during the troubles, the problem was that before the new gun legislation you bought your shotgun licence over the counter at the post office and there was no record of who owned what, when the new legislation came in it created a huge pool of illegal firearms overnight.
  11. We had only been at the farm a year, I don't remember lots of trees down our way but it did take down the only mature elm on the farm and took out the power and half the roof off the farmhouse, whole family slept in the front room for a fortnight with the park ray lit at Ightfield for heat, my dad had just had a brand new defender and it was parked next to the house and got pelted by all the tiles that came off, year after I was allowed to use the saw, I was 14 at the time and it was a brand new still 028 still got it and still running. Spent a lot of time over the next few years cutting windblown that was left from the 87 storm.
  12. My case cost me £1200 15 years ago and up to last year hadn't cost anything other than servicing, it wore the bush in the fan belt tensioner so it ran out of line and snapped the rim off the pulley putting it through the the radiator, it came out of the foundry at valiant boilers so was on solid tyres so no punctures, no idea how do it is and it's never had an hours clock, but the Cummins b series engine in it is bombproof and it's probably worth same now if not more than when I bought it, they are very handy and maneuverable when you get used to driving them and don't have to hard skid them when turning on soft ground you can make a gentler turn so as not to make a mess.
  13. I've got an old case 1845 5ft skidsteer only managed to put logs in the barn one year when had no hay in but was bliss could load a landrover hicap in literally 2 minutes.
  14. Mate of mines a blacksmith and also a possessor of a legendary beard
  15. I've told Mrs csservices that I want "don't fear the reaper" by Blue oyster cult, the full length version
  16. I'd say willow on both can get a variety of barks on willow depending on age and can look very much like ash when smooth barked

    Willow

Everyone lumps willow together but some is denser and longer burning than others, not sure if it's due to variety or growth location but I've burnt and sold loads over the years and poplar as well and never had problems with either.
  18. nearly spat me water everywhere, I worked with one like that, used to have so many spare prussiks hanging off his harness I don't know how he never hung himself up like a cats cradle
  19. Put it on ours the other day keeps claiming it's not connected to Internet, after googling this seems to be a well known problem with it, it seems to want you to use WiFi rather than an ethernet connection.
  20. Yep doesn't always happen, I used to work on 30 days but, big firms who want 60 or 90 days credit are taking the pee, it's been used as an example many times over the years but you wouldn't walk into a shop to buy your snap and say I'll take it now and pay you in 3 months.
  21. Probably why they pay fast, I've never actually applied it yet.
  22. My invoices state payment within 14 days on the bottom of them, usually give a weeks leeway then they get a statement of account, if still not paid week after that get statement of overdue account stating as the invoice is now overdue it is accruing interest at 10% per day until it is paid in full, only had to doorstep one person to get paid and he coughed up straight away when I turned up.
  23. Me too after a second look and zooming in to see the suckered behind the stump 👍
  24. Just done some googling for auction the want it in lengths no longer than 3ft and in bundles no more than 10kg and prices are averaging £1.50 per kilo for 1st and 2nd quality plain and berried, £3 per kilo for golden variegated and £2.50 for silver variegated if that helps.
