  1. Happens all the time round here I seriously wonder how people are making a living at times, although the standard of some work I've seen, definitely proves the old adage that you get what you pay for.
  2. I did this the other week, priced a job at literally labour plus materials to get the job as had nothing g on that week and someone still went cheaper!
  3. Took down this rotten old ash on Saturday, not my job is was grounding, the daylight you can see through the tree in the second picture to the left of the ladder was through a hole in the trunk rather than the canopy, had been pollarded few years back after a large bow tore out of the right side apparently crossed this garden and the neighbours, had decayed downwards from the tear, dug a barrow full of soil out of the cavity before ringing it down.
  4. As above 👍
  5. Conny bashing today, always hand when the customer goes to work and leaves the car in the way, after two very full loads of brash on the Iford Williams I start dreaming about a chipper again 😃
  6. Saw that the other night was looking for a cheap harness and flipline for tieing myself in on odd occasion I'm topping a big hedge but even if drew the line at that kit.
  7. Your obviously a disciple of Stefans positive thinking 😁
  8. That works in theory until a piece gets stuck and you have all the pressure on it from the rest of the load, but when it does work it does put a smile on your face 👍
  9. Tractor and man at £23 per hour plus man and saw at £15 per hour, half day minimum charge assuming it's local, if not add on travelling hours for tractor at same rate.
  10. I usually say about a fortnight for the same reason above but I can always ring and say have had a cancellation etc and can fit them in sooner, but on the other hand if I'm busy it gives me a fortnight to get organised.
  11. I do occasionally chase them depends on the job really, obviously if it's pia job then unless there's nothing to do then I wouldn't, priced 7 jobs in the last fortnight 2 replied, thanks but no thanks, 1 accepted and nothing from the other 4, trouble is round here there are so many tree work, fencing and Landscaping firms that cheapest price wins and unfortunately most times that cheapness shows in the quality of work.
  12. Left a set of ladders roadside on a site clearance once just behind the low roadside wall but in full view of the road, lucky this was on a Friday and Saturday morning I had gone down to fetch some of the timber the boss had told us to leave for the timber fairies as I thought it was to good to leave, so hid the ladders out of sight for Monday morning, didn't fancy turning up at the yard with them and explaining why I had just been passing and ended up with a trailer full of timber 😊
  13. The white part is uric acid or essentially the bird equivalent of pee, can't remember the rest of the composition without finding my notes from college.
  14. Haha I did one like that on a site last year about 40 foot stone dead lleylandii on side of a pathway behind a gym, 6ft gap in the fence to get it through, climber wanted to strip it but as it was getting late in the day I just wanted it down so we could get done, typically site manager came out to watch too, got it bob on didn't even brush the fence, wouldn't of mattered if it had as it was coming out anyway but got me some serious kudos with the site manager and the other lads 😁
  15. I don't need you boys flashing the cash round here, mine was made with love and a small degree of bribery to get me to do some jobs round the house 😀
  16. Just started a similar job but not as bigger area, was part of the gardens at one time so various stone walls hiding under the ivy cover, have been and round upped it yesterday and see how it goes from there customer also wants all the self sets out and just leave the mature trees.
  17. I'll pass that on to the chef lol
  18. Oh nearly forgot had hash browns in it too
  19. Oh yes I was dragged up proper, knife and fork together and ask permission to leave the table lol
  20. Saw this on Facebook other day, Mrs csservices made me it this morning to persuade me to have a day off 😁 pretty sure this trumps anything on the sandwich thread from the other week, sausage, bacon, egg, black pudding, plum tomatoes, beans and mushrooms 👍
  21. Have same problem at minute as the Mrs is on lates she doesn't finish til 9.30pm so usually about 10.30 before we have tea and gone midnight before get to bed, ok for her as can lay in in morning but I have to get up if does a few on the ounce I feel like crap until she is off for few days and catch up with some sleep.
  22. Much as it pains me ,on this subject I have to agree with you personally I think determination and a certain degree of stubbornness will get you further than positive thinking.
  23. Fridays job was to remove this line of conifers ready for a new fence, forgot to take a before picture, makes me glad the man I was helping has a 12 inch chipper 😊 2 loads of chip and one of old fence and stumps.
  24. Our eldest was living down there he had to live so far away from his job to find somewhere cheap enough to rent that it cost him a fortune in public transport everyday and he was living on pasta as his staple diet and when he came home looked like he'd been living in a third world country during a famine, finally saw the light and has moved to Lincoln with some friends from uni and is pursuing his dream somewhere where he isn't going to starve trying.
  25. I was using mine for the same reason, although the other half said I would probably lose more if I didn't come in from work and start raiding the cupboards 😁
