  1. Hi I was under the impression Dougie Ivinson was no longer in business. My husky 560 came from WM Plant they seemed reasonable on price and a very helpful bunch of people as for repairs I wouldn't really know what there service is like. I was more than happy with any dealings me or my dad have had with them in the past.
  2. Thanks for your reply's I appreciate it. I'm going to try and get along to the arb show and try a helmet on that's if there's any company's selling them there.
  3. Hello all thinking of updating my helmet as my old ones getting tired. I've been looking at the Pfanner it's for forestry work so groundwork only. Does anybody use these helmets and are they any good and worth the money.
  4. I'm sure Easi Uplifts are in Fenny Compton between Southam and Banbury
  5. Most of the time C.A.T.s won't pick up pipelines just power and telecommunications cables. Street lighting won't show up through the daytime unless a genny is used. The only sure way to identify any utilities and the depth they are laid is trial holes. Drawings and prints of the area also help but are not always accurate.
  6. Hi Blister I've just started stalking I was up in Dumfries and Keilder last week. Really got the bug for it now think I may have buck fever!
  7. Stop messing around and get a FAC certificate
  8. Hi log rover out of interest what chainsaw dealer do you use. From time to time I do work up around the Carlisle and Penrith area. I've used wm plant since Dougie Ivinson at Melmerby closed the doors.
  9. Hi stu I'm near the midlands and would be a taker but at £56 per ton there's no slice of the cake left for me.
  10. They never struggle to get out my slow cooker
  11. I fill large paper bags/ McDonald's bags with any waste then drop a fire lighter in the top. Ideal for lighting the fire as long as they don't get damp.
  12. Go for the plunge and treat yourself you cannot take the money with you. After owning a land cruiser you want look back. A good towing tool with plenty of balls totally different league to a disco. They always seem to fetch good money second hand a well sought after vehicle.
  13. Excuse my ignorance but are you all referring to the basic husqvarna helmet or the technical. Only asking as thinking of getting the technical myself.
  14. Hoping I will receive a copy soon after subscribing at the APF
  15. We have the hydro combi 20 ton cracking bit of kit. This has the side log lift operating of a chain connected to the splitting ram I personally find it quicker to manually move any large timber. The lift works ok if the timber is perfectly flat bottomed. When cord becomes to heavy to handle I cut it down with the chainsaw. We cut cord to 1meter and cut the billets at 250 mm.
  16. Make the most of all this hardwood as its just not sustainable. I don't see any replanting happening. We will be lucky to be cutting hardwood in 10 years tops. So maybe we should get in to the softwood reluctant or not.
  17. Off to watch the truck racing at donington park with my umbrella
  18. Log rover is the one you had from down my way in the midlands still going strong it was a good tool when I was working along side it. I'm sure it was from up north origanally.
  19. Get a buck knife they keep a good edge. Rugby gunshop sell them
  20. I hired a 400 last year. Started at 7.00am finished at 10.00pm 3 blokes a forklift loading the small log deck. Managed 25 ton all decent diameter timber. Long tiring day you couldn't do it everyday.
  21. Seems early for wheat most of its still green round my way in midlands. Seen the first combine today in OSR. Forecast for next week looks good so maybe see it get going in full swing. That will be the start of 3 meals a day out of a lunch box!!
  22. Thanks for the info lads I will check this green oil out and give it a go.
