  1. A Google Images search for 'trees of Madeira' reveals it to be the Dragon Tree - Dracaena draco.
  2. Not yet but the Czech's in the post. Sorry sorry, sorry....
  3. They do indeed look great in the right place and that needs to be a situation with some formality. Then they make a statement.
  4. I've had Engelbert Strauss Type As; very good value but hotter in summer I think than my Sip W-Airs.
  5. I stayed recently in Drumnadrochit and my hosts were telling me about Canadians logging the surrounding plantations in the war. It seems they got about. I wonder just how many there were.
  6. I'd never heard of Himalayan Knotweed but I'm with Paul in the woods. If so it looks like it needs to go as it's a non-native invasive plant. There are garden plant Persicaria's and they're pretty rampant.
  7. I used to drop unwanted logs at a friend-of-a-friend's place: they'd take just about anything as long as it was cut to less than 18" in length. The husband was in one day and as I was about to leave he took me into the garage, pulled a dustsheet off a saw on the top shelf and asked 'Is this any good to you? I bought it to deal with two dead elms at the old house and we've been here 13 years; it's never done anything else.' It was an 064 with half a tank of fuel. I tried to offer him a couple of hundred quid for it and pointed out the current replacement cost but he insisted he wanted nothing for it. That must have been 12 years ago now and it's still my 'big' saw. The guy left school at 15 with no qualifications and is a self made millionaire. The ones with money aren't always bad payers.
  8. I see a guy's now been charged with possessing 'an explosive substance'. On the premise that explosives of any sort in the hands of amateurs are not a good idea I'm glad I wasn't the a plod searching the vehicle armed only with blue gloves.
  9. Me too now. jjll - if you searched the Tip Site Directory earlier and came up with nothing try again; there are some sites not far from Tewkesbury.
  10. Which one? 'Bum' or 'part groundsman'?!
  11. Is it me or is the Tip Site directory wrong? I can only get a map of England showing sites in and around London and the south east.
  12. I think the Tip Site map of places is up the creek: I've checked Tewkesbury, Nottingham and Cambridge and the map is only showing sites in London and the south east. I've put it on the Arbtalk glitches thread.
  13. Sounds great. That's the stretch of the 272 I don't do; if I'm heading west I'm starting on the Surrey/Kent border so keep north - M3>A303.
  14. That's a darned good question. To close a road for a vehicle search for 19 hours and more would imply explosives or CBRN materials (are they still called that?) but you wouldn't search for those dressed in no more protective gear than disposable gloves. Puzzling. Overtime may be short...
  15. It would be good if this spell of weather got us some rarer visitors, e.g. Clouded Yellows, that I remember being regulars when I was a kid. I briefly saw a Camberwell Beauty in the garden here a few years ago.
  16. I expect a load have indeed come over the Channel in the last few days but there were some here beforehand: my mate near John O'Groat's had 'more than I've ever seen' arrive three or more weeks ago.
  17. I can't make out the bark enough to judge it but you're right about the leaflets. You've persuaded me - A.negundo. Perhaps I should have checked against the 15' Koelreuteria in the garden! ?
  18. I'm sticking with Rain Tree - Koelreuteria paniculata.
  19. Was unstuffed last Tuesday. On the mend now, will be working again soon.
  20. No problem Steve; my trailer's 8.5' long so a 3.5' overhang won't be an issue. Horley's 20 mins away. Jon
  21. It's all part of being 'contorta' Andrew; it's what they do. Assuming that is that the OP has mistaken natural form for a malaise.
  22. Jo Beau fabricate a bespoke steel plate to fit an M300 to a particular Honda tracked barrow base; I've got one. The barrow base cost me ~£3.5k. Dean at Global can give you full details.
  23. Yep, totally get that. They are certainly animals that polarise opinions. Just see how vicious they can be...?
  24. Would love to help Andrew but can't. The best I can do for you perhaps is suggest that the venue is West Molesey, Surrey...?! Jon
  25. Enjoyed that. My mind carried on from the Thames TV jingle and started hearing The Sweeney!
