  1. Jesus H Christ. Up to 30 seconds I thought 'big deal' but after that... ?
  2. For a price there's a 2.3L twin turbo Navara with 8-speed auto box that I'm told is a joy to tow with. But the price...
  3. Fungus spotlight: Phaeolus schweinitzii – Arboriculture ARBORICULTURE.WORDPRESS.COM A little look into the brown rot fungus Phaeolus schweinitzii. Perhaps a first step is to inform the owner of the tree; Local Authority or private? In brief this fungus is bad news for the tree in the long run.
  4. Silliest idea yet - break the crown down and leave the lot where it is for habitat.
  5. Perhaps Dyer's Mazegill (the common name for this one) is easier to remember?! ?
  6. A Loadhandler if you have/can arrange a horizontal tailgate for unloading? It wouldn't be good for full loads probably (too much weight) but for lesser loads perhaps a winner.
  7. The Clifden Nonpareil?
  8. Fair enough - just trying to help a fellow Aspenator!
  9. Not arguing with you - you're in Devon, I'm not - but I've just looked at the Aspen dealer locator for Devon and there are 14 in the county, fairly evenly spread. Worth a look?
  10. ...but still chips 4". That's asking a lot. I know Greenmech, Jo Beau claim 4" for the CS100 and M300 (which I've got) but achieving it takes management of the piece, i.e. holding it and feeding it gradually. I've actually chipped bigger than 4" dia but not by simply chucking the branch in. But isn't a 4" dia branch firewood as per your first post?
  11. I'm not sure how big your plant is but MP seedlings are extremely susceptible to damping off; from reading online instructions on germinating seed and developing plants it seems that most of the effort goes into avoiding it. Could that be the explanation?
  12. No; I'm more in line with AJStrees up the road here in Caterham though I would say definitely not the worst year. The intensity of attack has been worse, i.e. greater browning of leaves.
  13. Well yeah OK! Still not to be seen as valuable though.
  14. Good positive post there; great stuff. Glad NZ has worked out for you. The weather's still as unpredictable here!
  15. What's stopping you Robert? The logs were free so does it matter if they turn out to be no good for turning? I reckon they could be though, especially if you can find a good-sized crotch piece. But even if not Leyland makes very decent firewood. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  16. My guess is that the tree would survive - olives are very resilient. But take it back and get a replacement; the garden centre need their arses kicking for selling it in that condition without agreement that it's 'bought as seen'.
  17. I'd have been so unworried about it I wouldn't have even thought of it!
  18. I'd second that emotion...! The fruits are spot on.
  19. Without researching the matter isn't anything straight from the tree virgin, not processed, and therefore not requiring of a licence so long as it's your own waste and not someone else's that your moving for reward? Doesn't matter if your own waste does need a licence though; a basic waste carrier's licence is available online foc - just get one Register or renew as a waste carrier, broker or dealer (England) - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK Register or renew registration with the Environment Agency to transport, buy, sell or broker waste.

Absolutely definitely. Not for me but it's been discussed recently on here with favourable comments.
  21. The place looks great now Mick - good job! Came across this near it a couple of years back.
  22. Why couldn't you have told me that 20 years ago? ?
  23. So many variables... yes, your feet undoubtedly change with time but manufacturers sizing is, very annoyingly, not standard. Having learnt that lesson the hard way I try to put footwear on my feet before buying these days. My feet seem to have enjoyed the same journey; I was always a 10 until about 20 years ago; now I'm a 9-9.5 and have got away with a very comfortable pair of size 8 work shoes.
  24. Cut bits of willow tree are so easy to come by that I wouldn't stress yourself trying to store material cut now. When the time comes to stick cuttings in the ground just ask local tree guys or on here and you'll source what you want with not problem. If you're determined to use what you have available now put them in the ground to root and harvest cuttings from them in late winter ?
