It is cyanide - prussic acid - but not in concentrations to worry about in everyday life. I love the smell of chipped laurel and it's never given me a headache or made me feel dizzy thankfully. Great firewood too. -
Love the Tulip bases Steve. Loads of different skittle shapes there: is that due to different regions having their own traditional design or is it purely down to the whim of whoever's ordering them?

I'm not trying to fall out with you, honest guv, but again I disagree. Staff could have demanded verification of name and address; if refused call Old Bill - that refusal would be prima facie evidence of dishonesty.

I don't think so. My understanding is that by taking fuel before payment you are entering into a contract your side of which is to pay immediately after taking the fuel. It explains why when dealt with criminally the offence is Fraud, not Theft: the offender practised a deception by taking fuel that he would pay immediately afterwards. It's a technical point but such cases are dealt with as Fraud or making Off Without Payment, not Theft.

...and a lot more than £2.5k new but worth it. Buy cheap, buy twice. A cheapo won't still be giving good service in five years time. You may resist the higher initial cost but you'll regret it when you have a huge pile of conifer brush to start chipping at 2pm miles from home and your cheap chipper decides to choose that day to let bits go.

Let 'em be! It's September; the leaves will have very little nutrition left so will drop soon anyway. The critters will hence be chrysalising any day and hatching into those handsome little guys n gals in the spring.

Nice to see appreciation of that occupation Mick. My cousin's just stopped dairy farming at the age of 73 having started in 1968 on the same farm. Physically he's about broken; he was ambulanced to A&E straight from the parlour twice in the later years, once unconscious. -
I don't know about SBK application to dormant stumps but Ecoplugs would work and perhaps be more acceptable to the NT. And yes, you'd create some microplastics stumpgrinding them!

I thought that at first; I thought pic 1 was Euonymus fortunei and pic 2 a willow. But pic 3 seems to show both in the crown. I'm leaning towards a garden cultivar of willow too; the top growth looks strong enough for it.

Hmm. Oak gets hot all right; it just doesn't make a song and dance about it. How many moisture readings have you taken? Take a few from different logs in different parts of the pile. Worth cutting one or two to measure the inside. But after two years under a lid I'd expect those to dry unless the air doesn't move. Perhaps open the vent on the burner a bit.

When you say doesn't burn very well do you mean with little flame - the stuff sort of sits there glowing? That'll be oak.

Looks right. It flowers on old wood so cutting the growth back every year = no flowers on that part of the shrub.

I've worn Stihl brushcutter strides for years; very hardwearing, they last well. Have they simply been renamed hedgecutting trousers?
