  1. @david wood Waterproof Socks - Breathable, Three-Layer, All-Weather Outdoor Comfort WWW.SEALSKINZ.COM Sealskinz waterproof socks combine complete waterproofness with excellent breathability, letting excess heat and perspiration escape. Feet will remain dry and aerated in the toughest... 😁
  2. Google Lens says the bottom left is a thatcher's needle
  3. The title's a bit cheeky for a machine that does it work with a 20hp Honda GX!
  4. I'd agree but with reservation; would be good to see the whole tree to get an idea of form

  6. Wills-mill is Billingshurst way isn't he. I think I spoke to him once; he said how he loved big Lawsons and then when I offered him some he said he had no room 🤣 As I said above I'll not get involved with any marketing but will suggest FB Marketplace and Squaredy's guesstimate at value. Thanks again
  7. Thanks Squaredy. The cut wood has a red tinge to it as claimed by the owner and it's softwood; Douglas makes perfect sense. There was a slight smell to the timber when cut despite its age so again an indicator of Douglas surely. Thanks all; can't wait to break the news re the valuable tropical hardwood! @Squaredy any thoughts on value? The piece of string is 'that' long! Sale will be down to matey; I'm not getting involved!
  8. I got about 30 seconds to brush a saw over the end yesterday. I can't say the smell was distinctive; not one that shouted Douglas at me but that is a possibility isn't it.
  9. Quite. Don't let the books suggest that pinpoint pH is vital. What's more important to the OP than slight acidity is drainage; walnuts won't stand in wet ground.
  10. East Hoathly in East Sussex: the beams are about five miles away on a farm.
  11. Soil always reverts to type when treated to combat acidity or alkalinity, hence Steven P's assertion that re-applying lime every few years will be necessary to maintain the raised pH. So if you're determined to grow walnuts you will probably have to treat the ground every few years but long term the sensible thing is to grow a species more suited to the prevailing soil pH, as also said!
  12. That's useful; thank you. I'll definitely make a cut and take pics. FB Marketplace does seem the way to go these days. Cheers
  13. @Squaredy Sorry to bother you! Have you any observations to make here? Cheers
  14. That's a surprise. How can something that size not be worth anything? They're 4.3m long!
  15. Fair point Mick; I could cut a small piece to expose fresh timber - might do that anyway 👍
  16. A friend locally has a pair of huge wooden beams to go; 14'x18"x12". Apparently made of a tropical hardwood - 'if you cut into them the wood's red'. Came from the railways where they were used for supporting heavy equipment. Where/how could these be moved on? Cheers, Jon
  17. Just to be picky... Defence lawyer? She worked for the CPS before apparently blotting her copybook there. Has she done defence work too? If so surely that would add to her CV.
  18. I'm not sure about that Mick. It would be unlike the Aussies to take their foot off the gas deliberately; they take 'competiveness' to ridiculous degrees, especially against the old foe. The pitch was stupidly in all the bowlers' favour, so much so that the ICC has now assessed it as 'unsatisfactory', their second worst grading. Call me cynical but leaving the grass at 10mm long had nothing to do with the heat which is hardly a novelty in the country; it was to do with offering the most assistance to the on form Aussie bowlers. Luckily for us we bowled well too and they batted even worse than us (except for the brilliant Travis head). I anticipate Sydney with trepidation; we've now lost three front line bowlers. I'm a fan of Matt Potts; I really hope he can step up.
  19. Oral retention of tea was similarly an issue here
  20. Search for 'dog catcher pole'; cheaper than a fence stake holder!
  21. There has been so much wrong with England that you have to wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Will we find out after the tour? Who knows but there has to be some explanation for such a dire performance; three matches done and Eng have one highlight to celebrate - Joe's ton.
  22. @kimtree I'm probably off the mark here but when the blades of my Jo Beau are worn down to the max the heads of the blade retaining bolts rattle against the anvil. Could your mate's issue be end of life blades rather than the blades themselves hitting something?
  23. I've just watched a Youtube short where a guy plugged his AP300 into the charger every day for 9 days before it started accepting charge again. Another possibility. Sadly I found no mention of a reset button on your battery but don't give up; as you say earlier it's a lot of money - I was looking at £230+ for a replacement Ego battery. Let us know Jon
  24. Sweet like cherry or cat's piss like oak?!
  25. Calm down you hothead 🤣
