Well if leaves are looking darker than before I'd guess the thing's breathing a huge sigh of relief at being out of the nutrient-starved bucket and is about to burst into growth. I'd be worried if leaves were turning brown and dropping but it sounds like the reverse is true. I hope I'm right here as it would make a nice change from the usual vein of similar threads where the explanation to the poster's question is 'it's probably dying'! Sorry to hear Eggs. Never had it myself thank goodness but seen it in others and the effects are obvious. I can only suggest as some of the above which are known to work often though probably not always: hard exercise definitely as it releases endorphins which are feelgood chemicals produced by your body. As an aside to that I used to run non-competitively but still pretty hard - 8 miles in 45-50 minutes for example. After cooling down and having a shower I felt on top of the world; my mind was buzzing in a good way and my body felt purged - refreshed. Diet also is a factor: alcohol; yeurgh! I can't say I know how you feel but I think you're going to have to take a deep breath and say **** it; I'm going dry for a bit, avoiding processed crap food and doing some hard exercise. Doesn't need to be running; anything that makes you sweat hard and leaves you puffing will do. Good step btw opening up about it; that has to help. All the best to you; it can't be nice Jon

Depends on the marker eggs. Presumably the cops that stopped you confirmed there was one and confirmed your id: they should get back to the officer originating the marker and let them know so that they can have it removed. The above applies if was a marker relating to specific information; 'no insurance', 'no MOT' etc are down to DVLA. If you're concerned I can only suggest finding a Police Station with a front desk in a week or two and asking - take ID and proof of ownership with you

Some idea of the scale of the construction involved. First pic is, I believe a cable laying boat. In the second cop the orange and yellow people on the roof; the building's 25m tall and sunk 4m into the ground. Having scraped off as much as possible with machinery more depth was still needed hence the video VID-20210323-WA0005.mp4

Cable has been/is being laid between the Shetlands and the receiving switching station in Caithness; that's built, switches etc are in place. the building's ****ing mahoosive

I'd stop right there (!) and enjoy life a bit. Tbh I don't think any of that would be great in 15 years time. Insects, dry rot, degradation of the lignin will leave you with a lot of fragile balsa wood and dust I'd say. I'd say especially that the ash and beech won't last but actually believe that the others will suffer similarly. Some turners like it, some pass on it because it's 'plain'. It's an awkward timber to work with because firstly it discolours rapidly and secondly it splits for fun. But if treated carefully it spalts well and then it's more appealing. Overall though I've learned to go with @Mike Dempsey who, btw, breaks the mould; but then he's a professional, not a hobbyist.

I've forgotten how to tie an Alpine Butterfly as I use the Farmer's Loop or Circus Bowline which is very reluctant to jam because every rope crossing point is 90°. It's as easy to set as an Alpine unless you're an expert who does it all the time
