1. Dying alder I persuaded LA to leave in a town park. Tree is leaning over the pond. Should throw up some fungi as it degrades hopefully. We did this back in April.
2. Lil old ladybird on willowherb.
3. Ganoderma applanatum on a beech we left as mono.
4. Top class job. How long?
5. Are the two stems emanating from a common root? Twin-leader seedling?
6. I reckon the elm you're burning must be wych elm. Proper English elm was a bitch to burn...that's if you could split it!
7. Quality driftwood:thumbup1:
8. I had a similar thing done...rhinoplasty where they enlarge the holes in your skull behind the nose. Had to have packing pulled out twice as the first time they couldn't stop bleeding. Feel for you mate. It feels like a climbing rope being pulled out from behind your brain and eyes...ouch.
9. Fairly rare or local tree and the ones I've seen have a more fissured bark.
10. We called them askers as kids. He's a newt.
11. Looks like rowan.
12. It's the future.
13. Because we can't be trusted to get on and do what we do unless every little step is accounted for. Also creates a job for some jobsworth if he thinks you've stepped out of line and can then wave a piece of paper at you. You'll then be interrogated by a committee/quango specially created for that sole purpose.
14. Get rid of the street furniture and the obstacle course. Result...traffic moves calmly and safely. Do they think we're incapable of driving safely without a sign every 10m or a bollard to avoid:confused1:

Hedge laying

Depends whether it's a nice young hedge or a big old gnarly critter. I reckon anything from £10 to £20+ on the worst. Are you supplying the wrappers?
16. Speed bumps! Slow me to a crawl in the Hilux with rock solid springs. If a road has a 30 limit shouldn't the council maintain the surface so that 30 mph is possible safely?
17. God knows what it will be like in 20 years time. Thankfully I'll be well knackered by then:001_smile:
18. A speed camera only catches you within a short section of road...usually placed right at the end of a higher limit. Sneaky and good riddance. It's the job of the police to uphold the law and they can take many things into consideration if they catch you. 4am doing 40 mph in a 30 limit and you'll end up with a ticking off. Plus you never know where a cop is but the camera stays still.
19. Send it here first...http://www.plainenglish.co.uk/editing-services.html :-)
20. The traditional way is with sheep shears (hand ones) and a board for the level.
21. They know how to build diesel engines:thumbup1:
22. Just had a Landy reverse into my old Hilux. The guy says he'll pay for repair which I'm prepared to do myself as it's not worth bothering with insurance. I tell him for £200 I'll replace the front wing, valance, bumper and paint. He then decides he wants to do it through insurance so I get a quote from an accident repair co. for approx. £1500 and the NFU now want to write it off and sell for salvage. Have come to an agreement with them for the sum of £750 and I repair it myself but it now goes on category D.
23. Field voles are definitely not mice although in some parts of the country they're called mice:confused1: Not protected but they are the main food source for kestrels and owls.
24. Nice. Been trying to pick up a 40d at a bargain price but looks like I have to pay the proper price :-( What's the best 1:1 macro to go with that?
25. Where do I get an explosives licence from:thumbup:
