  1. Better mpg and turning circle. No idea of anything else.
  2. Just seen my first swallow of 2010. 30th March in Staffordshire which is the earliest ever for me. Beats the previous of 10th April. Sad keepin' an eye open but summer's coming:001_smile:
  3. Seven years with mine, 170k. In that time it's had filters, oil, couple of bulbs, bottom crank pulley, lots of fuel and some dents n scratches. Still drives like a new one. Try that in a Landy:001_smile:
  4. Just need the lilies now. Nice bridge.
  5. I take great pleasure in turning up anywhere in a battered Hilux and dirty at the end of a day. Interesting to gauge people's reactions. I've learned never to judge anyone by the car they drive and the clothes they wear.....they mean nothing.
  6. Stick with it mate. You're no less able than anyone else ....well that's what I tell myself. I had to drop out of the old RFS Masters because of work commitments but regret not finding the time. Running a business and being an employer is a drain on time! I feel frustrated at times. Still climbing with 30 years of experience, 3 years of college and not many people will look at me as a prospective employee. When I see some TO's:confused1:
  7. Check the fuel inside the carb with a test kit. Bet there's no oil in it.
  8. Is the government taking its duty out of this fuel or is it just overpriced?
  9. Just check that pot is really scored and it's not just deposits from the piston. If you're lucky then pot may just polish up. But you'll have to be lucky!
  10. I remember something similar years ago. Can't recall which Stihl saw but about 70cc. I lent it to a mate and when it came back it wouldn't start. Compression felt ok ish and a spark. Stripped it and it had obviously seized whilst he was using it. New piston and pot! He denied putting straight petrol through it but he obviously had.
  11. Why would you want to know? The only good throttle cable's a tight one:001_smile:
  12. I've seen a few of those about:laugh1:
  13. I had the rep phone me. I couldn't help it but launched into most vicious verbal abuse against his product and the slimy people who sell it. As you may have realised I've not had good experiences with them in the past....used them since '87. I can't believe how thick-skinned this guy was. Even after questioning his parentage he still keeps calling trying to get me to sign up. After two months of not returning his calls he finally gives up. Yellow pages is dying.
  14. Are they Thuja plicata doing their normal brown/bronze winter thing?
  15. Closest is Buxton's. About 20 mins north. Situated on A34 between Cannock and Stafford.
  16. Cut the wiring and install a switch? You'd have to remember to turn it on with other passengers. There's a guy in the US who sells a device to disable passenger airbags.

I was expecting some nice pics:001_smile: Mistle thrushes are an early layer .....one of the first. Usually tuck the nest away in a tight branch to trunk union.
  18. I was born awkward:001_smile: This saw has driven me nuts. Fixed saws for years but there's always one. Doesn't seem a problem on the electric side as swapped electricals from another saw. I'll try swapping carb and see what happens.
  19. I always knew they'd got no staying power.......sorry:001_smile:
  20. Cleaned out that gauze filter. Think I've cleaned out that carb 5 times now! I'm going to check it again now though. Thanks for replies.
  21. When I start this saw from stone cold it'll run perfectly for about 20 mins then start missing and spluttering. It can be kept running of a sort by flicking choke on and off. If the saw's left to cool a little then it'll be fine again for a few mins. It feels like fuel starvation or a tank vacuum. All fuel lines etc are good, new diaphragms and carb blown through with airline. Fuel issues seem to have ruled out. Could it be developing an air leak when hot? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
  22. Not always but they often need a little fettling to get spot on once they've been run a while. Manual will give jet settings eg 1 turn out as a starting point.
  23. Probably just needs the low running jet turning out a touch to richen the mixture. You may then need to alter the idle screw to get a tickover.
  24. I'm getting similar. Everytime I change a page I get a msg saying 'waiting for tracker ads/google'.
  25. Thirty years this year. Boots last 18 months = 20 pairs. First few years in jeans so I reckon 20 pairs trousers. I could do with replacement back, knee and one arm inc shoulder joint. Working on 15 hrs a week in a tree that's about 22,500 hrs. Geez no wonder I feel like this:001_smile:
