  1. Telling these is going to make me look like a complete amateur:001_smile: We turned up at a golf club to fell a Lombardy in the car park. Put a face into it and it immediately fell down across the car park:blushing: Dead elm in the garden of Mrs Thatcher's right hand man. Damn thing went sideways taking the chimney and conservatory with it:sneaky2: A lad working for me put a tree through some 11kv overheads sending showers of sparks everywhere. Put the freezers at a jam plant in reverse and thawed all the fruit out! That's a few I'm admitting to.....feel better now:001_smile:
  2. Starter cord. Doubles up as bootlace, belt and piston stop to whip a clutch off.
  3. They are pigs to restore....you've done a top job there:thumbup1:

If it wasn't for the kids I would:biggrin:

My ex misses has one on her stove. It's always whizzing round moving the air. I'm going to drop her a load of wet willow off....that'll stop it:sneaky2:
  6. Used to be Rhus until name change. Similar to R. typhina and the sap of that can irritate.
  7. Nice pics. I think spring is about 4-6 weeks late here.
  8. It's on the Shugborough estate, Staffs. If you're going to the APF in Sept it's 10 mins away.
  9. The band stopped playing after 3 mins:001_smile:
  10. Must be similar to food in the freezer. Always dries out if it's not wrapped properly.
  11. As I had the camera out today and we finished early I managed to get a pic of an oak that I'd put off for ages.
  12. It's amazing how they hang on to life. The ash is about 60' but has probably lost half of its crown(huge tearout). Wonder if it lost it in response to its reduced ability to cling to the earth?
  13. ...and they say you should never go back:001_smile: Good times had playing cowboys and indians around those trees.
  14. A few pics from one of my childhood playgrounds I revisited today. It's an old marl pit and you can see the effects of soil erosion by sheep and rain over the years.
  15. Yeah 20 years with chippers and a stupid thing still catches you out:blushing:
  16. Yeah it's mad. Drives me mad that everyone wants to work to their little rules and can't even see common sense:thumbdown:
  17. Thanks for all the replies. Engine is now running:001_smile: A phone call to Kubota agent this morning resulted in his suggestion of removing the chip drive belts. Engine fired up perfectly. When we were chipping yesterday a short piece of wire must have been tangled in the brash. It was about 18" long and was stopping the chip clear properly. Didn't even think of this as the engine turned over without problem on the starter and we didn't notice anything to suggest a partial blockage when it died. Nice easy fix and we'll know what to look for if it happens again:blushing:
  18. Thanks for all the replies. Been out so I'll try and answer some of the questions. Tyre pressures bang on:001_smile:. Non-turbo and it won't fire at all but will very occasionally try and pick up as it's turning on the starter but that's only momentary. The smoke is really thick and sooty so fuel's getting through. I just can't understand why it should happen without warning. No loss of power from blocked filter or increase in smoke etc. We'll whip out the injectors tomorrow and get them tested.
  19. Loads of compression. Removed air pipe and tried it and it's not blowing through the oil filler. I just ain't got a clue:confused1:
  20. That's what we thought. Air filter and pipes are clean. Turning the engine over on the starter produces thick black smoke and lots of soot particles. My mates bald head was covered in black soot spots:001_smile:
  21. Cracked off the pipes to the injectors and it just seems like a dribble. I'm assuming there should be a bit of pressure but doesn't seem enough. The filters had some cr*p in them. Could some of this have got into the pump or caused something to happen in the pump. We filled it this morning from cans and the diesel comes from our usual supplier.
  22. Air filter and fuel filters changed.
