    Loler

Hello, please could someone enlighten me on some aspects of LOLER to do with our industry. The LOLER inspector that our company uses will not cert equipment with out MBS, WLL or SWL. I make sure the kit is marked up to conform, however got some new kit through recently (fliplines including grab etc, cabium savers/pulley savers) which does not have MBS etc marked on it. LOLER guidelines say that equipment should have SWL marked on it. I mark the ropes, friction cord with MBS but because of the different configurations, knots used, I put SWL one person. Under our LOLER check this isn't correct, as 'one person' is to vague. Thanks.
  2. Thanks Alec. I will give them go.
  3. Hello. My 076 died milling oak the other day. Has anybody used copy pot and pyston kits? Any info would be great, thanks.
  4. Some LA arb crews work as business units, so have to self fund. Its a bit like being an internal contractor. They do not get funding direct from the council and all kit is bought buy the profit made over the year. So to make anough money to cover wages/overheads/equipment etc they have to get some privite contracts. I have seen an LA crew leave privite contractors for dead.
  5. Does any one know if the frontera 2.8td lwb is any good. I hear it has an isuzu engine (cant be bad). Just need it for chucking kit and tree gang in and towing chippers/trailers around. Any info would be a great help.
  6. Does any one get through a Dragonfly harness like myself and my crew. We do a lot of climbing, running four kits and two rescue kits all with a Dragonfly harness. I replace the bridge often because of wear on the conection point to the shackle. Our LOLER guy (who is sound) pulled one appart breaking stiching on webbing ect on a harness that was three years old.
  7. Theres an old riggers knot which I use when attaching ropes to winches called a 'cats paw'. I will try to put up a picture. (Another although a bit cumbersome to do) make a loop but use a 5/6 wrap blakes hitch as the tie in point, has a very high breaking strain.
  8. Cheers for the feed back. The old isuzu I looked at was rusted through. Goin to have a look at a good old D21, lets hope its ok.
  9. Hi there, found a job for lead arborist on warwickshire county council web site. Starting at around £19,000 and moves up to £21,000 in november 2010. Close date 6/08/2010. Move fast if you want it.
  10. Hi there, does any one know what old isuzu pickups are like (h reg). I hear the engines are good. I had a D21 crewcab, it was brutal! After that monster died I got a L200 4life, its a bit duff. I think stripped down brutality is better than a shiny paint job. Any pionters for checking out an isuzu would be great.
