  1. Think I'll try a swan stuffed with a couple of old buzzards:001_tongue:
  2. Good luck mate. Not many people follow their dreams
  3. Looks like a piece of poo with a mouldy jacket. Was it alive?
  4. The male catkin fertilises the female via pollen. Fertilised female then develops into a seed.....basically.
  5. Brash, Axe, Wedge, Knot, Kerf, Sned, Leaf, Bark ...
  6. Yes....definitely someone's old Xmas tree.
  7. Nothing surprises in a world that would deface the Cenotaph and a statue of Winston Churchill. The Glastonbury thorn is of no religious significance to me but its mysteriousness spp? intrigues. Long live the unknown.
  8. Looking at the size of him I reckon you got that freight cheap:001_smile:
  9. I've seen several go through the local sales. Always fetch good money.
  10. Got the best seat in the house:001_smile:
  11. Why can't I get these to run nice and clean? They just won't tune and seem to be virtually fourstroking at full revs. They won't weaken off enough or will they? Is it the cheap Chinese carb or something else?
  12. Always a worry that one.
  13. If it's a bike the general concencus is to run it like you going to race it. Modern machining and metallurgy negates the need for the old system of running in. It's been proven that an engine worked hard from the off will produce more power and last just as long or longer than a mollycoddled one. If you're too careful the rings will just glaze as opposed to bedding in and forming a good seal.
  14. Ice in November to hold a duck nothing thereafter but slush and muck. Well the ducks are standing on stiff water. Does anyone place any credence on these old sayings? Interesting to note that the three coldest winters in living memory all started just after Xmas with nothing to note in November. As the days grow longer the cold grows stronger.
  15. He's a real character...as they all are:001_smile: Had springers a long time and wouldn't change em for the world but they can get you to hair pulling during training. Searched long and hard for a white-faced one. The line goes back to the 1930s....Chrishall and then Bekesbourne strains. His name's Rossi.
  16. Here's my new pup. Nine weeks old and hopefully plenty of work in him.
  17. John Craddock LTD I think John Craddock has plenty in stock at £82 each.
  18. Graham

    shoulder cuts

Isn't he just cutting and letting them rip out? Doesn't seem anything new there except a name! Maybe I'm missing something or it's another word to hang up with the rest of the gear:001_smile:
  19. I think we need to remember that many artists of the time painted to please their commissioners rather than depict a true to life scene or portrait. In common with many, Gainsborough, I'm sure, would have worked from sketch books and have been influenced by works of other artists. You end up with an idylic scene or a portrait of 'The Mrs' you prefer to real life. Early Photoshop:001_smile:
  20. Maybe a little artistic licence too. Always loved the elms in Constable's paintings.
  21. From the greatest painter of light ever; JMW Turner. Trees at Mortlake.
  22. I think the 'blame' instead of being on the original poster then it should be on lantra for not teaching the different types of wood in its cs31 courses. I think the blame should be on his supervisor. He should be knowledgeable enough to foresee the consequences of his cutting, stopped him and explained what could happen. Thankfully they've both learned from this.
  23. From the pics it seems to me the lad should have been stopped before he started the back cut. Maybe the pics don't tell the whole story.
