  1. A couple here but hard to see in the pics. Hopefully the bats have taken residence now.
  2. Domestic work quiet but now have five weeks work to do before the end of Feb due to last minute LA jobs and nesting cut off:001_huh:
  3. Are the valves within their spec? Can make starting difficult if they're not.
  4. I have it fairly bad. Been using saws etc for 35yrs. Starts in little fingers and moves along to others. Thumb is never affected. The colder it is the worse it is and even get in the summer at times.
  5. Leylandii
  6. On Hergest Ridge....Mike Oldfield.....Tubular Bells. Does he still live there?
  7. The US beat the Chinese to that....McDonalds, KFC....
  8. As I remember it was virtually dead at the time...70s. I'm pretty sure it fell lifting its root plate. It was just outside the late Phil Drabble's house (he of One man and his dog fame) and the last time I worked there he was very ill and I wanted to ask but was unable to.
  9. I remember seeing this tree in the late 70s but it has since gone. It was called the walking stick oak and was situated in Bagots Park, Staffs. Bagots was a medieval hunting park which was abandoned 600 yrs ago when the family relocated to a bigger house a mile or so away. So is it a remnant of a clear fell? Why would it be left? Was it not as straight as its surrounding mates! Pic was taken in 1951. The first branch is at 70'.
  10. Looks like a piece of decayed cherry.
  11. Bit of nasty K. deusta there.
  12. Bad news. Brilliant guitarist.
  13. At the Warwickshire fuel depot all the tankers and trains fill up from the same pot. Be they Shell, BP, Tesco et al. The only difference is that they can choose whichever additives they want to be mixed as the tanker's filled. All diesel has some water in it. If it's excessive it must be in the filling station's own tanks.
  14. Soil heave is only going to occur on shrinkable clay subsoils and, if that's the case, generally the tree would need to pre-date the building. Recent buildings should be built to withstand these soil movements.
  15. I once had dealings with these travelling types. Bought some carpet for a shop unit I had. They supplied and fitted it. Good job, good price and they were courteous too.
  16. Cheers. Doc reckons the scans use a serious amount of radiation and don't use them willy nilly. Don't want to scaremonger tho as the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
  17. Just spent a few hours in A&E:nurse: Bottom of combi ladders collapsed, I'm stood on top with long-reach hedgetrimmer and the next thing I know I hit the Tarmac head first. Anyway...bit of dizziness and no recall of how I drove to the job! The surprising fact is that when the Doctor was talking about a CT scan he told me that out of 1 million scans there is a possibility that 30k tumours may result from them. Check your ladders.
  18. If the land is generally accessible to the public and that includes private car parks etc then yes. Pretty sure FC land would be in that category.
  19. We are pricing a job near Runcorn and there will be approx 20 tons of hybrid pop in cord and trunk length. All virtually roadside. Would anyone be available to pick it up on a daily basis as it's felled if we're successful?
  20. Problems using a crosser: You'd need to get it road legal and registered for a lot of comps. Their power delivery can be too aggressive riding rocks and gnarly climbs and you'll end up fighting the bike as well as the course....probably ok on a straightforward H&H though and standard suspension is too stiff for enduro. Enduro bikes are set up a lot softer to maximise traction over rough ground but not best suited to big tabletops etc.
  21. This week was a smashing time. Happened at 5am Wed. Wonder who they upset? Stolen lorries smash through gipsy homes « Express & Star
  22. 200exc is a nice light bike to race. Try Cotswold enduro club and Manchester 17. Both hold events around West Mids. Will you be riding closed course events or do you hold a full licence?
  23. Let the old girl go at her own pace. As long as the owner's aware it's going to fail at some point. At the moment it's a good habitat for bugs and beasts.
  24. In all honesty I can't remember one that stood out. I can remember the smell of Geoff Scaife's arb shed and the pair of skidders we tied to the flag pole on the chimney one night:001_smile:
  25. Def Meripilus and poss K. deusta. Targets? Get it felled.
