  1. Flexible hoses breaking down. Causes the brakes to stick and slowly release. Had the same problem.
  2. Always seems a shame to shoot them having migrated here to escape the ravages of Northern winters. Never shot one when I used to shoot. Prefer to work my dog now.
  3. A bit of glowing carbon when the saw's really hot causing pre-ignition?
  4. Have you tried Norfolk Lines. Used to get good deals from them squeezed in with the wagons.
  5. Looks very much like Juniper scale insect.
  6. If you need an engine I have one here. Standard plus little used 70cc pot and piston. 06 bike.
  7. Dutch elm disease.
  8. Looks like a Derbi/Aprilia kit if my memory serves me from doing my lads bike.
  9. Def honey fungus but there's no reason to suspect it's affecting other trees unless there is some underlying cause of stress.
  10. I think people get confused with Thuja...Western Red Cedar which is decay resistant and oily(?). Used for cladding, shingles etc. Of all the cedar I've felled in the past none of the mills are really interested.
  11. Is it a Hatz diesel?
  12. I've had the free Orange broadband since its inception and never had a problem with it. You can bet your life having stated that it's going to go t*t+ up:001_smile:

Well done Rossi. Not sure about Crutchlow. He's being hailed as Britain's brightest hope since Sheene, Hailwood, Read etc. I just don't think he's got the class or skill to ever to follow in their footsteps. Hope I'm wrong.
  15. It must be grafted or budded on to ordinary stock. Can't see how weeping cherry could produce a straight stem otherwise. As stated before I'd just leave the dead wood in there. It'll fall out eventually.
  16. Hickory I would think. Not enough leaflets for walnut and the tip leaves are larger.
  17. I reckon your probably correct for many jobs. It's a lot easier to underestimate the time on big jobs. Far better to do two or three small jobs in a day for £200 apiece than the job we're on at the moment. V big syc into eight foot square drop zone which is decking. A lot of sweat and swearing involved.
  18. Walnut Leaf Blotch Also known as 'Walnut anthracnose' and formally as 'Gnomonia leptostyla', 'Marssonina juglandis' or 'Marssoniella juglandis'. A widespread fungus causing brown blotches on young fruits and leaves, when severe will cause the nuts to abcise (fall prematurely) after turning black and considerable leaf fall. Another disease which favours wet weather for infection, it usually appears in late May and early June and will overwinter on leaf litter. Fallen leaves should be cleared and burnt or properly composted. Again, Bordeaux mixture may help a serious infection. Cut and pasted.
  19. on the walnut; Marssonina juglandis.
  20. Never. Just something to snag and break.
  21. Sad. A real character.

Day flying could be this Rose Chafers - Cetonia aurata - UK Safari

    Big green beetle?

Possibly a Great Diving beetle. Was it close to darkness and wet at the time?
  24. Drummed into me by fallers: A foot at the bottom's worth a yard at the top. To this day I hate to see a high stump.
