  1. As Stephen said. I sold up once in 1991 and because it came with work with an LA, National Trust, English Heritage etc it was worth buying for a company to expand into and take on my staff. Without that work it was a collection of my tools which you could buy anywhere. The first approach should be asking local tree companies if they're interested: esp those that border your area. If you've got staff then tell them you're considering selling as they might be interested.
  2. I've had several from Jones Springs. Proper old place where you can watch them making them Van / Commercial Springs - Jones Springs - Jones Springs Ltd.
  3. I think someone may have got laurel and rhodo mixed up re. the cyanide. I'd use any wood ash.

    Jokes???

There's nothing worse than a Doctor's Receptionist who insists you tell her >what is wrong with you in a room full of other patients. I know most of us >have experienced this, and I love the way this old guy handled it. > >An 86 year old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached the >desk... > >The Receptionist said, "Yes sir, what are you seeing the Doctor for today?" > >"There's something wrong with my dick", he replied. > >The Receptionist became irritated and said, "You shouldn't come into a >crowded waiting room and say things like that." > >"Why not? You asked me what was wrong and I told you," he said. > >The Receptionist replied; "Now you've caused some embarrassment in this >room >full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your >ear >or something, and discussed the problem further with the Doctor in >private." > >The man replied, "You shouldn't ask people questions in a room full of >strangers, if the answer could embarrass anyone. > >The man walked out, waited several minutes and then re-entered. > >The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, "Yes??" > >"There's something wrong with my ear", he stated. > >The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her >advice. "And what is wrong with your ear, Sir??" > >"I can't piss out of it," he replied. The waiting room erupted in >laughter Supposedly a true story. Captured off Facebook.
  5. Certainly looks similar an old Fransguard I once owned. One or two little differences but mine may have been later than that one.
  6. Anyone seen this? Road out of Theriso, Crete.

    Spiders

Looks more like tube web. Aggressive apparently and spreading in the UK.
  8. We've always called the second growth on oaks Lammas. August usually.
  9. I'd say it's pretty typical of hedgerow wych elm.
  10. Zooming in on the pics it does look like K. deusta fruiting bodies.

    bindweed.

    Hmm...take a look at this http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/forestry-woodland-management/50504-glyphosate-what-you-need-know.html
  12. Should have added that hazel wedges burr over as you hit them but are unlikely to snap.
  13. An old guy years ago always used hazel. He swore by it.
  14. Good to make your own. Bodger's Ask & Answer • View topic - part 1: making a new axe handle
  15. I installed a Jetmaster 18 last year which is rated at 5kw. Brilliant stove and couldn't be more pleased. I chose it for its clean design and efficiency. They also do a bigger version Wood Burning Stoves - Log Burners & Multi-fuel Stove Fireplace
  16. Ash produces fantastic cavities. I know of plenty with owls. The woodpeckers too love the localised hispidus decay for nesting. I just remember all the big elms going and not looking forward to this.
  17. Natural Resources Wales / First ?wider environment? Chalara case in Wales
  18. Thanks for your help and the pic. I'll post a pic after pruning.
  19. I'd definitely run the bike on an oil designed for high performance water-cooled bikes. A 125's going to be running flat out too.
  20. Definitely in decline. As a kid many years ago they were a common sound and sight in the countryside. In my childhood egg-collecting days a cuckoo's egg was the holy grail. Eventually got one from an hedgesparrow's nest in the garden. Many of our migrants are losing ground too. Swifts, swallows, martins. I think many of our older houses are being sanitised with plastic which the martins don't like and gaps are lost the swifts used to use. Some people won't even allow the martins to nest because they don't like a bit of bird poo on the wall, drive or car!
  21. Have heard them for about three weeks now. Saw a pair yesterday and a few singles. We get a fair few here around The Chase due to the many nesting meadow pipits.
  22. Link is interesting. Tried to get better pics but to no avail. Looking forward to having a go at this now:001_smile:
  23. I wouldn't want to give more than £500 for that!
  24. Hope you can see well enough from these pics. There's certainly strong upright growth!
