Neighbor has some large ash trees, the ones that stand alone in the lawn are affected by these small green caterpillars each year, there’s thousands of them and strip the trees bare of leaves each year, the trees then flush again. no other trees in the area are affected, there’s maples and apple trees they don’t touch, and the ash trees that have lilac bushes around the base are not affected, only ash trees growing in the lawn. i know the name of the caterpillars verbally in Swedish, but not the correct spelling so can’t find the Latin. my suggestion has been to build a chicken enclosure around the trees as the caterpillars are constantly falling down and climbing up again. . But better solutions are appreciated.
  2. Me neither. I too have a decent array of kit and an excess of saws, kit and saws are fun to buy, paying excess money to someone who doesn’t deserve it isn’t fun. I resent paying a shit climber £100 a day, yet have no problem paying my regular 2 who not only are decent climbers but good workers an people that don’t piss me off each day the equivalent of 450. someone will only pay you what you’re worth to them. Europe’s different to the UK, different types of contracts, different tax rates, different turnovers, different expectations. paying 450+ in parts of Europe is probably like paying 180+in the UK

  4. Consumable/warranty part or not, the running hours should be irrelevant on a warranty measured in years? A saws warranty is (for example) 2 years. Whereas a car warranty is 3 years OR 100000miles

  6. SV Tech are known for uprating vehicles. Even Toyota (Here in Sweden) will update the towing rate of the older style hilux from 2800kg to 3500kg. paper exercise and uprated rear springs.

  8. I don't think so, i was in Cambridge working for a cambridge firm, might be mistaken, but sure the guys said it was in Saxmundham, at the church next to the big hill, which was only a few miles from where i grew up, hence remembering it.
  9. Nice work mick! I absolutely love the ladders, reminds me of a classic photo of one of the guys i used to work with, 3 sets of ladders strapped up a big cedar in Suffolk in the 80's. Easier than body thrusting on 3 strand! Was the rot caused by the removal of those big limbs in the past do you think?
  10. Briefly, but predator machines seemed to have mixed reviews Online and was more money. The vermeer 362 was option nr2, but was 1500 more. Simply came down to price and wanting to try a bandit product in the end.
  11. A friend with the bandit 2550 and another who hires a ZT1844 has the same problem with the wheel/teeth. What rayco you got? I quite like the look of the rg45, 4x4, but I feel the price difference far outweighs the moderate increase in performance. Not worth it for me just now.
  12. Need to screenshot your written English comment and send it to my old English teachers! UK expat, very mild disappointment, not massive. It's a good grinder for the price, and its mainly small niggles, certainly earns me good money and a big step up in performance from the 272 i used before.

Small things, the tracks catch the body work sometimes when turning, the exhaust guard is now rattling, difficult to get the holes to line up when refitting belt covers, there's a plate between the hydraulic and petrol tank covering the battery, i removed that to disconnect the battery when welding, needed a ratchet strap to pull the tanks together again to line up the holes, the hydraulic/fuel pipes etc rub against a metal plate when swinging the motor/cutter head, theyre bound together with a protective thing but sooner or later they'll wear through
  14. Its a good machine, but it does have problems and flaws. Its cheap purchase price keeps me satisfied. I like the power, width (i can get my tracked jensen and this on the trailer side by side) Grinding ability But the tooth pocket bolts regularly work their way loose, if you don't catch it in time, the bolts break (no biggie) but if grinding when loose, they wear the holes into an oblong and the metal bulges out, making it impossible to properly tighten. Grinded flat and welded the holes at the weekend and the problems better but not solved, going to be a re-occuring issue i think. 2 grease nipples are a pain in the arse to get to. At about 50 hours some wires short-circuited themselves, mechanic reckoned they were incorrectly routed. still waiting for the mechanic to write a satisfactory rapport to do a warranty claim. It just about grinds deep enough, just about grinds high enough and just about wide enough. build qualitys average at best. Overall i feel it could be better.

  16. If what i said is correct, then yes, EU after all. Theres also an awesome online system, where you type in your car reg number, trailer reg number and what license you have and it'll tell you if its legal or not, and what load you can have in the trailer (if for example, you have BE licence, a car that can tow 2800kg, and trailer with a weight of 1000kg, MAM of 3500kg. it'll come up with a warning that you may only load 1800kg on the trailer. Or in Rough hewn case, it'd just say no
  17. On your licence, you can drive a vehicle which has a maximum plated weight of 3500kg, and tow a 750kg trailer. OR You can tow a heavier trailer, IF, both the maximum plated weight of the trailer, AND the maximum plated weight of the car do not exceed 3500kg combined together. Your discovery has a maximum plated weight of 3500kg, therefore you can only tow 750kg. Your discovery and trailer have combined maximum plated weights of 6100kg (3500kg + 2600kg) Therefore, irrespective of the actual weights, your setup is illegal for your license.

Thats interesting, because at the press launch of the new 550 mk2 and 545 mk2, the Husqvarna guy said ALL their models, across the world will meet the highest emission standards, regardless of which country the saw is built in or destined for. I would therefore be surprised if they are still making the bigger saws even in Brazil. Looks like its old stock brazilian market saw if it is genuine.
  20. @carlos, first impressions are very good, its physically bigger, longer tracks, not quite as nimble in rocky forests, but due to the longer tracks and perhaps the extra weight it flattens out the ride where as the smaller 530T followed every little bump up and down. So its horses for courses really. The hopper is lower than a mates 540 spider - a VERY good thing! The tracks extend far wider than the 530, which helps when turning carefully on grass. If in tight spots it will inevitably cause surface damage quicker. The engine note is impressive, and the extra power really noticeable, it was only spruce branches we chipped yesterday, but even stacking multiple armfuls of branches in the hopper, then pushing them all through the stress control didn't kick in, just dropped about 20% RPM and continued chipping. (although i did order - loosely translated - intelligent indeed system, neither the dealer - new to jensens or i was sure what it was, perhaps its that working?) Plans for the winch? winch stuff, looks cool, wanted one . Do stuff like, 2 fallen spruces yesterday, just winched the stems, whole, to where the customer wanted the rings left. Self recovery of both chipper and hilux when i get it stuck again - normally after filling up the trailer with chip off road/snowy conditions. Winching stuff to where they can be chipped (e.g across a garden to where chip can be fired into a forest, or to the trailer if driving stuff away) @s o c the winch lever is inline with the hopper, tracks extended its tucked quite a way in from the edge of the machine. Looks like its just to un-screw from the rubber gaitor if it is a problem. One of my subbies who's used a TW280 a lot, and both my mates 540 spider and my new 540, reckons the 540 (50hp, not the 37hp one) is far better extra power noticeable and better manoeuvrability.
  21. With my old, smaller 530, i had room for about 3m3 of chip plus the chipper. Otherwise its 2 trips, but at 8m3 it holds more, certainly legally, than most 3,5t tippers. Ive also subbys with plant trailers. Plus the majority of jobs the chip stays onsite, and that's what i push for, hence paying for tracks!
  22. Cheers Pete! Yes swinny, there was more room with the 530 but it all fits still, and going by plated weights, all legal too! Ill be be sure to let you know how the 540 goes. Went with the 50hp motor normally found on the spider too
