  1. Brand of the Volkswagen group
  2. Like this? In theory a stripped out car transporter style pickup with 7t gtw could carry a 6inch tracked chipper, and tow a 3,5t trailer with 2.3ish ton chip
  3. About 1m3 at the moment! One of my tip sites has a weigh bridge, winter chip you need to allow 300kg per m3, summer chip 400kg per m3. Been quite an eye opener getting weighed tbh. Run bigger vehicles? Cart chip on a trailer instead? Plenty of options, options that require more effort and £ unfortunately. The cold truth is running overweight and illegally keeps you competitive in the UK.
  4. You did, first quote “depending on access” and “keep the wood or not” you gave a range of 1200-1400, which some will interpret as: good access, wood staying 1200. Difficult access, wood away 1400
  5. So 1200 for easy access and keeping the wood, or 1400 for difficult access and wood removal? Ill pay for your travel expenses to go and do that tree, if you do the tree, including removal of branches and wood (no grinding) for £1400/ 3 men in a day!
  6. Give me a ring when you are ready to buy next year. My machine will be 2 years old and you never know, i may be looking to replace/upgrade.
  7. Pretty sure you won't be finding a TW190 at 2-3 years old, they stopped producing them a while ago. You'll get a lot of personal preferences/opinions on the rest of the answers you seek. My opinions, A low houred 45?hp 190 would be my preference over a 37hp 230. The 540 comes as standard with a 37hp motor, look out for the 50hp if possible. id be looking away from TW at over 800ish hours, Jensen 1500, Depending on previous life of course. Ive a 50hp 540 in Uppsala You're welcome to look at if you're near by anytime. Chose Jensen over TW for Jensens longevity, (my last had 1800h, used others with 3500+) Hydraulic winch rather than electric, retractable tracks (which wasn't an option on the 280TW). But in Sweden TW have the biggest market share, presumably backup too.
  8. Which ones have the dpf? The latest 2.4?
  9. What’s the main differences and price?
  10. ? I kept an eye on the gradient gauge on the engine
  11. Theres masses of far better machines out there. It's woefully underpowered for a start.
  12. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
  13. yeah, its called Arbtrader https://arbtalk.co.uk/classifieds/
  14. Sometimes it pays off to carry round everything possible in the back of the truck. Friday morning and 3 stumps in on today’s 36. 15 minutes of down time ?
  15. Typical of what’s available here, ex golf course 50hp, 4000hrs about 4k plus vat avoid machines that are set up for snow clearance
  16. Bark is full of grit from where the snow plough had pushed snow and grit into a heap around the tree. (I'm standing on gravel track) Half decent teeth and fresh spruce disappears very quickly
  17. Some rushed pics of some of the past 2 days stumps, 20 stumps in total, most 1-1,5 m diameter. dead ash, elm, oak, few fresh spruce went through about 15 teeth (lots of rock here) roughly 40liters fuel no cleanup
  18. Yeah Matty, The ZT is belt driven, I'm happy with it, alot of grinder for the money. Wheels give better stability This looks like a good deal: Rayco RG25 Stump Grinder - Global Recycling WWW.GLOBALRECYCLING.EU 2016 model 35hp 4WD 700 series greenteeth Belt drive 35” width 693hrs Ref: 21002346
  19. I wouldn’t say the sc30tx is an upgrade from a 252, on par at best
  20. This has spurred me on to sorting out my NI shortfall, Ive tried to contact HMRC about keeping up with the voluntary contributions a few times but computer has always said no due to a catch 22 of no longer having access to the email adress or phone i used to have to sign in. Not been overly fussed as my Swedish pension is far greater than the UK would provide, but it'd be daft to let the uk one slip. Well, its taken about 10 minutes tonight on what looks like a new system they now have to get a new gateway ID. Very easy. Needed to provide Name, DOB, NI number, and UK Passport number. I see I've a £750 shortfall, and i can pay it, but no obvious way of paying! So sent an email asking how i can pay it to keep my full state pension.
  21. Thanks for the info, @GlobalNewark how do i find out if my machine is eligible for the update? Would never dream of engaging cutter wheel at full revs, i do have some mechanical sympathy!
  22. Which belts? The fat triple belts need to be tight I burnt through the cutter wheel one, it started slipping now and then but wanted to finish the stump, then it disintegrated. Unlike the Vermeer I used before which could slip all day the tensioner is a bit of a shit design, flip the long tensioning bolt around to make adjusting easier. I don’t understand why it’s the way it is from the factory.
  23. Shouldn't you be concentrating on litres per m3 and ton chipped rather than litres per hour?
  24. The blue throw saw wedges are great, plastic rated for cold climates, same width as a guidebar, stack nicely. Bit pricey though
