  1. Yeah, but there is alternatives, the legislation isnt "controling the design of trucks" as Dan said. Personal choices is controlling what vehicle we choose to use. Most arbs choose to run as simply and cheaply as possible. You not wanting to keep your truck at your yard is your choice? plenty of hauliers manage? Trees are heavy, so we should be abiding by the heavy transport rules, thats the ugly truth. IF everyone could play by the rules, it'd be far better for the industry as a whole IMO.
  2. nothing wrong in the legislation IMO. Most people who pass their B car test will never need to drive a vehicle over 3.5t, so unnecessary to train them for heavier the common tipper is manufactures giving an option. there’s transit sized tippers at3.5 4.5 5.5 6.5 and 7ton GVWs if you want or need to go heavier there’s vehicles and licenses available. it’s just easier to be lazy and complain though 😆 (and yes, I have tried HGV ownership, the particular size wasn’t for me, perhaps will try again with a different size hgv sooner or later)
  3. What suprised me was it wasnt really piss-wet! But beech chip does seem to compact itself nicely. Normally I reckon you need to allow 350-450kg per m3 Haha, yeah, ive had steel ifor ramps before, nice and grippy but rather heavy! the ali Ifor ramps ive got now are very light, but dangerously slippy even when slightly damp, had to screw in loads of studs to compensate. Just need to remind myself when swearing about the steel ramps that this trailer was 3-4k cheaper than other makes!
  4. Felled a decent sized beech the other week, beech are pretty rare in this part of Sweden, certainly this size. being over 1m diameter permission was needed to fell 7m3 of chip weighed in at 3600kg!
  5. Stunning location pete!
  6. Niewladow. (i think!) 2nd Polish trailer I’ve got, can’t see any difference in quaility tbh, Al-co hitch and aspcock lights - same as on the higher priced brit and scandi trailers. Steel ramps under the deck, winch, wheel chocks etc.
  7. No trees suffered today, 1200km round trip to pick up a new trailer. Polish brand, half the price of a new ifor/Brian James over here, see how it does!
  8. Good to hear! Im still impressed at the over the phone diagnostic i got from GM years back over an old, used machine, not even purchased from a main dealer or still in the UK! How you finding the 150? Diesel? Looks good in Black!
  9. Generally single wheels have a higher "legal" load rating, but in real world work, don't handle the weight as well as the duals do (sways about more) A 3,5t double cab WILL be over loaded, so might as well try and be a little safer and go duals
  10. What are you asking for for that Mick? More out of curiosity than seriousness
  11. I heard the standard Echo 1/4 10" bar is just a rebadged Sugihara, any truth in this? Certainly looks like a Sugi, lasting well too.
  12. If thats willow, its got to be the worlds slowest growing willow ever recorded
  13. Re-evaluate your insurance policy, read the fine print (all of it), make sure EVERYTHING is covered, and upgrade/change provider if needed. If Arbsafe is still running, register everything with pics and serial numbers on there. good record for you knowing what you've got if nothing else
  14. Seems obvious Ty. you want to run legal Either get a 3.5 tonner and chip no more than 2m3 at a time Or get a 7 tonner and brim it full without worrying. get rid of 4 times the amount of waste at a time 7tonner seems the obvious choice
  15. Don't see a problem to climb it, drop crotch it with a silky, then nip in the remaining with secateaurs. or batter it
  16. Of the few large firms i know over here, when times are good, they politely turn away small jobs/enquiries, when work is thin on the ground, they'll be less picky with smaller enquiries/domestic stuff. Those that rely on the smaller domestic stuff, should i guess, just be greatfull the big boys aint interested/competing against them most of the year.
  17. New hilux time! 2.8 motor, 3500kg towing at last
  18. Great result Lux! Fingers crossed for you now Not a forst fan either, but Arb talk post or not I reckon they’d still have replaced the chipper. take the old one, retrofit the newer modifications re-sell a few k cheaper as ex demo, and they’ll still be thousands in profit Consumer law was always in Luxs favor, they know that, they’re not stupid
  19. Is the Stihl bar a straight swap Matty? Chain too? (got the narrow Echo 1/4 10" bar and chain) Ive a couple of new 150T bar and chains, but no 150 anymore
