1. Has anyone asked their insurers about what is allowed as I would imagine that is the most important part? Being fined is one thing, but causing damage or injury and not being covered is deffinetly another!
2. I wouldnt worry about it, if they have sensitive enough equipment they will find traces across the globe.
3. If you can get that money on tree work then why not sell all the farm equipment and run more trees gangs if its easier and more profitable?
4. Ah right cheers. So its more of an industry standard model thingy.

Eye Eye

Ouch! Good to hear its no worse than it is. Ive had a few scratched eye balls, horrible, horrible pain and feeling for a few days. Mrtree is going to have a field day when he sees this thread.
6. How can it have a weight limit that low? I thought the buckles and webbing is rated far higher than even a really, really big fat person.
7. Looks like he is having a great opportunity to be involved in all aspects of Arb.
8. Why wasnt she beaten to death by the other lads?!!! Hope he recovers fully, hope she gets what she deserves.
9. BOC=British Oxygen Company Thats were I get all my oxygen.......... and acetylene. I think people worry about trees too much, they will be here long after we are dead and/or departed from the Earth. We only live for a very short period of time, if that pop is spoiling our view then fell it!!!!
10. I think it depends on what web site you look at and which 'expert in their field' has produced the latest paper. The last I heard it was BOC.

Tachometer

Ive got the TECH-TACH TT-20K, and its great. Think it was around £60, but that was a good few years ago.
12. What do you mean by netting? since its theft get the police to do the job we pay them for.
13. I charge the same because hedge work can sometimes be just as difficult if not harder than tree work. Plus the costs are the same, wages, rent, insurances etc doesn't get any cheaper.
14. Cheers for the info. Sounds like a lot of work has to go into it to get it right!
15. Probably the best you can do imo is to make sure you always have your line nice and tidy for a very quick descent. A groundie with just a ticket is next to useless imo. Anyone who really needs rescuing is probably going to be dead by the time they get their kit on never mind getting safely out to the injured climber. An installed access line is a good idea but one that I have never seen put in practice.
16. Looks like theres still a gap in the market for a decent pair of chainsaw pants.
17. Its all relative. If what I read is true there are companies charging £900 a day for 3 men who would be gutted at someone charging £600 a day for 3 men who are equally gutted that 3 men can work all day for £300,etc etc. There will ALWAYS be plenty of people willing to work for less , many of them will keep going long after others have folded because they can work for less, plus there are always more newcomers.
18. I reckon they are racking their brains to make a new name up for some material they reckon will stretch but nor tear. An why do we need all this stretchy material?? All we ever asked in the old days was a pair of chainsaw pants that the arse didn't rip out of. Just put a bit of stretchy stuff their and leave the rest as tougher material. R&D, does it really happen, in the real world, in real working conditions, with real Men? And or women, don't want to be sexist.

Filtered but used like instant. Sometimes I just chew on the beans. Do like a nice fresh filter coffee(Costa is tops) but trying to do that out in the field would look a bit Julian Clary.

Your wasting your time there, get some neck warmers knitted aparently they are all the rage with the tree lads. Anyway real men drink coffee.
21. For some reason I thought you said + VAT. Still reckon £400 is a bit much for less than 2 hours work, but if you can get it then excellent.
22. How good is it at fine/slow feeding?

Libya

He is a mad man and should be stopped. But yes it is about oil, otherwise we would step in to the madness that happens in South Africa.
24. I think you will find you are talking bollocks.
25. Try soaking the chain in oil then fit it with the correct tension. If it was just blunt it should still run but not cut. Post a pic of it.
