  1. Copper Beech tree to reduce a large leader on the left growing into the Birch. The reduce to reshape on the rest of the tree to tidy. Thunder and lightening broke out whilst up there. Luckily was done sharpish but soaked to the skin.
  2. Nice work David. How long had the tree been dead and what do you think was the cause of its demise?
  3. That was my initial thought. Or, one is pee'd at the other for something that has happened in their business partnership, so decides to pull this. Unfortunately you appear to be the one in the middle. Hope you get it sorted and learn from it. Back everything up and get all permissions in writing, whether text, email or fountain pen written letter... Still get it. All the best.
  4. Dan, I would either market yourself as a freelancer with truck as Old mill says. or Try to find another company that uses bonafide sub contractors to give you work. Then get yourself a groundsman and pay him and do the work in your own time and pace. The latter option also allows you to see what crap goes into the chipper. Providing you don't hire an absolute tool to help you.
  5. Work trousers by engelbert strauss
  6. Try the engelburt straus type a mate if you are after a change. People seem to like them. I cannot be so choosey, being a long 'un. I'll stick to pfanners.
  7. Rope bags for all ropes. Riggin and climbing lines. The only exception is I usually have a 15-20 metre rope kicking about for smaller trees. That gets coiled and put in my climbing bag.
  8. Yeah I looked under the needles and they were a lighter shade of green.
  9. Well got some more pictures of the not so mysterious tree... Maybe they will help. So what is it then? A kiwi tree or a grand fir? Rich
  10. How much do you want? The tree for ident is staying in. I was just curious. The arizonica is left at a stem about 2 - 2.5 foot dbh and about 12 foot tall. Thing is we have to remove it today. Are you after the whole stem or rings and what size? It has to be removed and dumped today as the guy I am working for has no storage facilities. The job is in Bromley.
  11. Finally watched it all. Did it in two sittings. The vid was a bit long I thought but I get what your saying. Good job.
  12. Cheers Fred, thanks for your help. And cheers for popping in here to confirm who 'that bloke on Facebook' was. Nice one.
  13. A guy on Facebook suggested it might be this... Prumnopitys ferruguinea/taxifolia Closest so far but I am still not 100% on the bark.
  14. I'll take more pictures there tomorrow. Tbh I don't recall seeing any cones on the tree. The only cones on the floor I noticed were from the Arizona Cypress I was removing. I will look harder tomorrow and take some more pictures of the foliage.
  15. Cougar Blue mate. I was just showing a lad the bulldog bone in what I thought was a Yew tree. When I got closer that is when it all went pear shaped...
  16. Unfortunately, not a lot I can do about that.
  17. I think you are wasted as a tree choppa mate... You are definitely an Aboriculturist.
  18. What would help you correctly ID mate? You can zoom in on the foliage from the pictures I posted. Do you need to see the underside of the foliage? Edit: just check the web for that one and the foliage looks pointier on your suggestion.
  19. Ok, I exclusively, and only ever use SRT... Unless is decide against it.
  20. One of my pals even sent the pictures to a couple of friends who work at Kew. Even they couldn't ID it.
  21. Yes mate. Looked the same from what I could see. Back there tomorrow so I could grab some more picture of anything specific if it would help anyone with the ident.
  22. No fruits and Strawbery tree tends to have rougher bark. Also iirc the Strawberry tree has foliage that looks closer to Holm Oak. Ie Evergreen and waxy.
  23. I checked that I used both. Nothing should be exclusive in this industry. In reality though, I have probably used doubled rope and rope guide about 10-15 times in the last 8 months.
  24. Working in a domestic customers garden today. They were an old couple but had a few trees in their garden but they were all planted before they moved in. We were a bit stuck on id'ing the tree I had to remove and we settled on an Arizona Cypress. Behind though was a tree approx 20 foot tall and the same wide. Leaves and growth habit was that of a Yew tree. However, the bark looks more like a Beech tree as opposed to Yew. No, I didn't just stick a Yew twig on a Beech tree I put a couple of pictures on Facebook and the idea of Hemlock came back but there were no small cones on the floor and the bark is too smooth IMO. Any ideas as this one really had us stumped. Thanks in advance. Rich.
