  5. I have done a fair bit of rec climbing in the past. I have been kicked out of my local park when I lived in Lewisham. I was only trying out a new bit of kit and was only 3-4 metres of the floor. The Narky Parky had a right go at me saying I was damaging the tree. He worked for Glendale. I told him the bad pruning done by Glendale tree crews caused far more damage than I would that day. We also used to go onto a public footpath across some parkland near a mates in Maidstone. There were some lovely large oaks so one day we climbed them, just got all the ropes setup and the land owner happened to be walking his dog. He kicked us off the land politely. Something about liability and if we hurt ourselves etc. My advice would be to get permission first, saves a lot of hassle or just get in with it and be prepared for the consequences.
  6. Not any more you can’t Gramps. I was proper pissed off dealing with them. Even when shown the evidence that I used to be able to drive up to 12t MAM they denied that was the case. Yet when I was stopped driving that lorry plod said it was ok. It was like a little Britain sketch where computer says no. The β€˜tard I was dealing with could only repeat the mantra β€œthose that passed before 1997 etc” I asked her to check what the restrictions were in 1991 when I passed. At that time they had changed the entitlements to be in line with the EU and it was 12t. The only response was those that passed after 1997 etc.
  7. I wish it was that easy. That’s why I got a transport consultant to help me. He was working with one of the firms I contract climbed for. At the time I also drove for one firm with DAF 7.5t and towed a big Scheisling. Didnt make a difference.
  8. I had planned to do the same Mick. But I got into an altercation with an African pastor in Catford one Friday afternoon. He basically drove into me and scratched my Navara and did the wing mirror. The police were called and when the plod checked my details and asked why my license was still registered to the North East when I lived in London. I was at risk of a thousand point fine. Hence the reason I applied for the photo card license.
  9. I even went into the DVLA website and applied for code to see what you are entitled to drive, it is all digital now so car hire companies etc can have access to the info. The restrictions even changed on there. My letters to the ombudsman’s even documented all this as I had screen shotted all the details. As I said, like banging your head off a wall.
  10. No they won’t. See above post.
  11. That doesn’t work. I have documented it on here before. I had a paper license and C1E with no towing restrictions. I asked if I would have all the same entitlements and they replied yes. Even asked them to provide it in writing. I got the new license through a couple of days later. Sure enough they stripped my towing abilities down to C1 e with a max trailer weight of 750kg or 8.25 t MAM where as, previously it had been 12000 kg or 12t. I complained, escalated and even had a transport consultant write a letter to the ombudsman and direct to the CEO. It was like banging my head off a brick wall. In the end I dropped the issue as I was leaving the country and moving to Norway. Little did I know at the time, that the amount of unnecessary bureaucracy in Norway makes the UK look like complete ****************ing amateurs..

  14. It has been pretty hot here in Norway so the dog has been chilling a lot. Early long walks and late night walks. A double coats must make it pretty hot. Chilling in the garden. There is a Roe Buck that lives in the woods and seems to know exactly how long the long line is and teases her LOL.
  15. Oh, the old school Stihl all round protection were horrendous. I bought a pair of the first stretch airs when they came out. Mainly because they did them with a 7cm longer leg. They fitted me Like a pair of jeans. Pretty light and comfortable and no where near as hot as the old Stihl blue with orange stripe or black with orange stripe. So I just got on with it and wore them. Once you get used to them then it isn’t a bother IMO. I have lost count of how many pairs I have had. But not worn any other brand since.
  16. I won a pair of type A at Jonesies show one time. I didn’t like the feel of them. i took them to Norway with me and left them there and used them when I was contracting before I moved here. I may have worn them once or twice in the UK but only ever bought all round protection and used them. I will add, I only use pfanner Arborist front protection over here in Norway.

  18. Much better. Tusen takk.
  19. Please don’t compare me to your Pink Prototype. 😜
  20. Wow, that was constructive. Do you want a gold star so you can stick on the fridge or would you prefer a new pack of flavoured crayons?
  21. Hold your horses there Bamber Gasgoine. Somedays I think I would struggle with a three letter wordle.

  23. I hadn’t looked at this thread since April. 80 odd extra pages since then. β€œPlease show me in the doll where the Orange man touched you.”
  24. So many rebels in this industry. If there is a chin strap just wear it. If you have to wear all round protection chainsaw pants, just get on with it and wear them.
