  1. Caused by the sap bleeding out. I pollarded a Birch just before bud burst a few years back, it bleed like hell, looked a right mess, turned assorts of colours, I was sure it was going to die, but it came back lovely, its right by a main road, so I pass it often, it looks great now
  2. This is fine, BUT you need separate equipment for each business. I used to do this, but amalgamated the two in the end.
  3. So why is the flat rate scheme 11%, why would the VAT man cut such a sweet deal?? I only save around £800 per year on the FRS, so not miles off actual cost.
  4. Thats outrageous!!!!!! How much was the bill and what for???
  5. There will be very few tree firms (not subies) making more than 50% profit, IMO. I'm on the flat rate scheme and pay 11%, some how I can't see the HMCE loosing out.
  6. You need to take into account the VAT you will now be reclaiming, this will reduces your costs, this may well mean you only actually need to charge an extra 10 or 11%.
  7. Very few farmers will have anything set up to pull this. Great trailer, really sorry to hear its been stolen, I'll keep my eye's open.
  8. Flicked back to the page, I had viewed it earlier.
  9. This one?? http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/trees-law/98726-kingston-tree-conservation-areas-tpos.html Someone trying to promote their website I guess, rather "coals to Newcastle" on here through.

I have a stick, but I think the haulage would kill it.
  11. The simple rule is you don't a penny until the goods are in your possession, follow this simple rule and all will be well.
  12. Just open a second personal account and run the business through that, I did this for years. I only opened a business account when I started my limited Co.
  13. Nice one!!! Good on Stihl for having a sense of humour!!
  14. The important thing to remember about all this H&S guff is that its dreamt up and policed by guys like this Yes he is a health and safety auditor, can't say I'm surprised ( The cheshire cat, not Gandhi )
  15. Thats an impressive load John!!! what sort of weight do you think there was on the trailer??
  16. IMO, from the pic's £4000 is ridiculous!!! But then £600 is far to cheap. £1000 to £1500 should see the job done IMO, but that is from pic's so I could be wrong.
  17. What is the "Nice wee man's" crime???
  18. Galvanising is the way to go if at all possible, my chip box is 15+years old and as good today as the day it was built, I reckon if it had been painted it would have rotted out years ago.
  19. I don't understand this bit? So you were more expensive than them or less? Why is giving a lower price "undercutting"? I'm not even sure whats meant by "undercutting" its general something said by those who don't win the job about those who do win the job, often they have little if any information on which to base the claim.
