  1. Nicely done Tom
  2. Yes have a tunnel, but I have the processor in there and use it to store kiln dryer logs prior to selling. I really want to cover far more timber than I could fit in the tunnel. I'm not wanting to cover split logs ready for sale, its more about drying cord and billets, for the boiler and to reduce kiln time once processed.
  3. I think you had pants accountant mate. My wife and I pay no NI monthly, we are both on the lowest salary you can that still gives you advantages of employment, the rest we take as dividends.
  4. I would imagine the camper is parked on the owners own land, on his side of the other guys tree.
  5. Thats my understanding. Even if your tree fails and lands on someones house, so long as the tree has no obvious defect and you have acted "reasonable" in inspecting and maintaining the tree, you are not liable and the home owner must claim on their own insurance. Your insurance would pay for the removal of the tree from their house.
  6. Corporation tax is not an increased overhead, you will find you pay less than you did as a sole trader, so it will actually be a saving.
  7. If he is not negligent the neighbour can not claim against his insurance. The damage would be "act of god" and the camper owner would need to claim his own insurance.
  8. I need to improve my air drying, the poor weather of the last 5 or more months has really set back any drying that took place over the summer. This year I'd like to get as much smaller diameter cord and billets as possible under some form of sheeting before autumn. I've wondered wether silage sheeting would be any good and what it costs? Any other suggestions would be much appreciated
  9. Oh there is little to no chance of me changing trades, but the money used to be very good, these days it only good.
  10. When I started I was excited about the money, I'm not as excited as I was 10 years ago, unfortunately
  11. When you walk down the street you are being passed by by vehicles weighing up to 44tons, if one mounts the pavement and hits you, you will be very dead. Modern life is dangerous. At least on site we can control the risk, the same cannot be said when walking down the street
  12. Surely if the impact was so hard your toes will be mush??
  13. Not wearing steel toecaps I guess???
  14. Yes cause thats what I said:001_rolleyes:
  15. Exactly!!! So an experience saw operator should be perfectly safe
  16. If felling is risky, you climb and dismantle. Sure there can be human error, but you should choose a safe method. I've cocked up a couple of times, was always stupidity on my part, not inherent danger of the job.
  17. Cars are far more dangerous, what do drivers charge???
  18. Its dangerous if you don't know what your doing, but there are very safe ways of doing our job. Otherwise we would never get started as the RA could not be completed.
  19. I fear you have missed my point.
  20. Ouch!! how did you manage that???
  21. Its not, thats my point.
  22. Have you a link to Tescotalk???
