  1. Try a pre filter or clear out the existing one more regularly while these conditions exist.
  2. I did see an advert on ebay for a couple of guys in the North Nottinghamshire area who could perform such a service. Plonk "woodchipper" into the search box on ebay.... there was also an advert for chipper hire from a small firm close by Doncaster - but it isnt a GreenMech!
  3. Hmmm, I would ask where the dust is coming from? I would like to think that a pre filter is unnecessary in usual circumstances otherwise one would be fitted as standard. Make sure that all the mechanical bits are in order first but if you feel the need - see if you can acquire a centrifugal pre filter. It certainly wouldn't harm anything.
  4. I thought Kev Petley's post spot on! If there were fewer "local" dealers, how far would you drive to get a warranty repair completed? Quite often, Kevin's staff fix things under warranty, for which they can claim a labour rate per hour which is fixed by the supplier and that may be less than they would ordinarily charge for routine servicing. Well done Kevin for your post and welcome to the forum.

    Greenmech

Not yet Rog, but they have been delivered with lighting towers, lit infeed chutes, electric recovery drive and different colours. They gave gone to America, Australia and also Brazil recently too!
  6. Cannot remember the fuel consumption figures - rule of thumb would be 1.5ltrs per hour? Is that about right chaps? Reliability? Generally yes! We had a few drum failures but changed them foc, and then changed the welding process. Other than that - nowt to confess to! Keep your blades very sharp and your brash very clean, and that goes for any chipper!

Good thought Roger but the spray booth doesn't do complete trailers! Another factory tour day will be announced soon too...... GreenMech green is Glebe Green - I'll post the RAL code asap for the original poster!
  8. Ironic thread this! Our family have had a few VWs over the years, and I'm considering selling my Hot Rod to get a T4 or T5 for the weekends! But I don't want to fall into the trap of getting one, then 6 weeks later, finding out that I don't really like the camping thing! The Hot Rod fits in the garage and is lots of V8 fun and noise, a Van will just take up space on the drive when not used....
  9. Eddie, those Canberra's weren't bombers really, their main role for many years was a very stable platform for very high spec photographic equipment. They could get unstuck at only 75% throttle and fly for many hours at getting on for 60,000ft, yet were highly manoeuvrable and very robust. They lost their role with the emergence of digital photography and satellites. Dad crashed landed one in Malta back in the 60s - officially, he was a bad pilot having one more take - off than landing!
  10. Quite! The Vulcan crew took a lot of convincing that they wouldn't burn through all the leaks in the refuelling system even though the Victor pilots lived in jet fuel! 13 Air to Air tankers to get one Vulcan there and back! They were fated as the hero's in the film but little or no credit was given to the Tankers because they refuelled everything on a daily basis worldwide!
  11. Mum's Dad ran a Post Office and was the ARP Warden but was a sniper at Ypres in WW1 where he met his future wife who was a nurse. Dad's Dad was in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment and walked across Africa then back and then up Italy and back before getting injured in a truck accident. He is 103 this year..... Dad was a Pilot for the RAF from the late 1950s upto the late 1980s. One of his postings was flying a Valiant or Victor bomber with a nuclear payload and insufficient fuel to get back from Russia during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the Quck Reaction Force. He also flew a spy plane around the Mediterranean, Africa, the Near and Far East. He was on the Ops Wing to get the Vulcan to Port Stanley and back in the Falklands Conflict and was days short from that campaign medal.
  12. I read with delight at the proposed action on the stolen dog trade which costs an estimated £57 million per annum. The must be fantastic news to all those who have suffered dreadfully for their loss and the animals that have been traded, sometimes internationally. Now doubt that, when caught, these vile people will get a stern ticking off and asked to some good works in the community for 80 hours - work which they will not find demeaning and will complete as a matter of common decency and personal honour! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! When will Whitehall and the Judiciary smell coffee! While these crimes are heinous enough, far greater thefts occur daily, cost the individual and the insurance industry untold amounts, yet, largely go undetected an unpunished when the bastards are caught! while I stop at vigilantism, surely it is high time that punishment fitted the crime and was a deterrent, punishment and realignment! Make perpetrators loose out financially for their crimes, if they dont have the resources, start taking it from their families and relatives!, throw them out of the country without a thought if they are originally non UK Nationals, leave them homeless and at the mercy of their friend's goodwill even! Do something for pity's sake! Prevent from being able to procreate would be a good start!
  13. Touche'!
  14. Jez Smithers is the rep in the seat! Ring 07825 012261 with your serial number and he will help you out.
  15. You can take a machine to whoever you like! They don't even have to be a woodchipper dealer - that is your perogative. But we would prefer you to take it to the authorised dealer. Ifyou want to do any service work yourself, you may and many people do - we cannot tell to spend your money with someone you might not want to. Dealerships can and do change, if your are happy with one, then stay with them. If you feel you have a legitimate gripe then talk to them and involve the sales staff as well as other departments. Contact your GreenMech rep directly if you want. Or the rep for which ever make of machine it is, because this scenario applies to ALL makes and all machinery sold through a dealer. If that machine is worth you spending your money on, then the manufacturer or importer should also take ownership of that deal and do what they can to resolve your issues. After all, they want happy customers too.
  16. It makes sense to do the dealer route, from an accounts pov and support pov. Some dealers are bound to be better than others and some will carry more spares - depending on the amount and type of machines in their patch. Sometimes problems can arise from them, sometimes the customers expectations are wrong, GreenMech can screw up too! Trying to support any product that needs the level of care and maintenance that a chipper can need is difficult. But we can only do our best to support you with a "local" dealership network otherwise we would stretched too thin and many of you would get simply huge bills to cover transport, mileage and driving time on service calls.
  17. Not true Tom, we do send out parts, and we can send them direct to you. But, the bill will come from the local GreenMech dealer. We set up a Nationwide dealer network for Sales of new machines and part of that organic growth is for the dealer to do service work and spare parts. In doing that, owners not only have the comfort zone of being able to talk to someone at GreenMech, but, also a local supplier! Parts can be sent to a dealer, or direct to you, even dispatched on a friday for a Saturday delivery if it is desperate and the cost bearable. Furthermore, the GreenMech website shows the phone numbers of Alastair, me, Julian and Martin, the Sales Director so we are all contactable and not hidden away from sight!
  18. The MD at GreenMech had the full size spare nicked out of the underneath of his Disco which is going to cost him a wedge to replace. He doesn't even know when it went either!
  19. Belting machine! Get one as soon as you can! But then, I would say that.... I must admit that had one out to use for a demo the other day and it is impressive!
  20. RIP Nelson Mandela. I do hope his legacy lives on and with a sense of decorum....
  21. I was well impressed with the lift capacity when you a Cliff Perks as a counter balance! Good bloke....
  22. I thought Steve Blair's Luton van with tail lift and a load of wheelie bins was a blinder! Chip and wheel rather than drag, chip and sweep! All your kit out sight and out of the weather plus big advertising space.....plus you can do the odd "back hander" shifting stuff....
  23. Tom Daly, the diver, has just revealed that he is in a relationship with a man. Brave lad.....bet that has broken a few young girl's hearts!
  24. Are they coming out of Special Vehicles as a van or is someone else doing the conversion? How do you fair with the auto for towing? Got to agree with the horses and towing....
  25. My son was very keen on the FaF films, petrolhead escapism......sorry to hear the news as the genre made many a young lad dream. I remember watching one with Tom and the intro by Mr Walker explained that many of the stunts were computer generated and others carried out by trained and experienced professional drivers and on private roads and should be repeated on the street...... Such a shame at 40. RIP Paul Walker.......
