1. Not true Tom, we do send out parts, and we can send them direct to you. But, the bill will come from the local GreenMech dealer. We set up a Nationwide dealer network for Sales of new machines and part of that organic growth is for the dealer to do service work and spare parts. In doing that, owners not only have the comfort zone of being able to talk to someone at GreenMech, but, also a local supplier! Parts can be sent to a dealer, or direct to you, even dispatched on a friday for a Saturday delivery if it is desperate and the cost bearable. Furthermore, the GreenMech website shows the phone numbers of Alastair, me, Julian and Martin, the Sales Director so we are all contactable and not hidden away from sight!
  2. The MD at GreenMech had the full size spare nicked out of the underneath of his Disco which is going to cost him a wedge to replace. He doesn't even know when it went either!
  3. Belting machine! Get one as soon as you can! But then, I would say that.... I must admit that had one out to use for a demo the other day and it is impressive!
  4. RIP Nelson Mandela. I do hope his legacy lives on and with a sense of decorum....
  5. I was well impressed with the lift capacity when you a Cliff Perks as a counter balance! Good bloke....
  6. I thought Steve Blair's Luton van with tail lift and a load of wheelie bins was a blinder! Chip and wheel rather than drag, chip and sweep! All your kit out sight and out of the weather plus big advertising space.....plus you can do the odd "back hander" shifting stuff....
  7. Tom Daly, the diver, has just revealed that he is in a relationship with a man. Brave lad.....bet that has broken a few young girl's hearts!
  8. Are they coming out of Special Vehicles as a van or is someone else doing the conversion? How do you fair with the auto for towing? Got to agree with the horses and towing....
  9. My son was very keen on the FaF films, petrolhead escapism......sorry to hear the news as the genre made many a young lad dream. I remember watching one with Tom and the intro by Mr Walker explained that many of the stunts were computer generated and others carried out by trained and experienced professional drivers and on private roads and should be repeated on the street...... Such a shame at 40. RIP Paul Walker.......
  10. Timberwolf is a brand name for a woodchipper that is made in Stowmarket by a company called Entec LLP. As far as I know, there is no association with any other company or product.
  11. Didn't do bad for a hairdresser from Cheshire... I thought the programme was brilliant, it is on ITV4 at the moment and now looks quite cheesy. RIP Bodie, thanks for the teenage escapism.
  12. Dan, we have ours that is available and you get to drive it too! Give me a ring if you think you are man enough....
  13. just a couple more!
  14. Alex Stamp at Mertrux in Leicester sent me these photographs.

    Celebrity! ?!

    Sorry, who is Katherine Jenkins?
  16. Tension springs can loose their "metal memory" and go slack. Check also that the chipper blades are sharp and the shear bars/anvil are in good order. If they are not in good order, chipping performance will be reduced too.
  17. 2nd that comment! From the point of view of an exhibitor, a trade show is pointless if there is no trade!

    Celebrity! ?!

Anyone else find this so buttock clenchingly piss poor? Not only did I not recognise anyone as a celebrity, the whole thing makes me think that many of the attendees should be prevented for procreating!
  19.
If she senses through the alternator, it still takes voltage pulses per revolution but more of them! If you have a green light, speed is being sensed (does it change to red if the revs are dropped?), so 12v should be sent to the solenoid. I'm no mechanic, but sensing through the alternator is many times faster and more reliable and it isn't a special alternator but I could not tell you how it works exactly!

  20.

If you have a green light and 12v at the solenoid, hold a light screwdriver to the end of the solenoid - it should he magnetised. If it isn't, then your coil maybe buggered.

cheers.

  21.

Sounds like an electrical issue. Check the wiring from the box, from inside, through to the Hershman plug on the solenoid. It should get 12v at max speed which drops off as the revs drop. The light should be green at working speed, if it is still red, it is not receiving a signal from the alternater or the sensor on the flywheel bearing depending on age. The sensor takes pulses off a bearing collar and should have a indicator light to show it is registering a pulse. The gap between the lugs on the collar and the sensor can be from 1.5mm to 6mm I believe. Try looking at these for a result.

Rich, I've forgotten my login for this section, please cut and paste this response. Cheers

  22. I spent about half an hour today quickly looking into prices of Arb Trucks based on a few quick web searchs and was surprised by the options available. Ford Transit Tipper with 100ps engine listed at £30K. Sprinter (similar size) was listed £29+k (okay, add body cost) VW Grafter Listed at around £29k (ditto) (Anyone add rough prices on 3500kg trucks?) Then looked at Fuso Canter chassis cab with 175ps engine(7500kg class) through Mercedes Benz to find theirs is around £30k for the 4x2 and around £32k for the 4x4! Going on that, why would anyone bother with a new 3500kg truck which at best carries 1500kgs when a Fuso could conceivable carry over twice that and more for only a little more outlay!?! The Fuso people will be sending me some non-brochure photographs soon and I'll post them up.
  23. Daily Smile!
  24. Allelys look after the GreenMech lorries and take care of our tacho requirements. Some years ago, Maurice Allely, the founder was telling me that they shift a lot of trains and when a train load stone derailed in Lancashire/Cumbria, he had 27 artics just to get a crane onto site! The do general haulage all round Europe including stuff for us too. Their yard is littered with stored trains and fancy trailer kit but the transformer stuff stays at docks as it is too much trouble to bring back to Studley, Redditch.
