  1. On our tools, the gap is set in production and is fixed. If it increases, either a locking collar or shim is faulty or there is bearing wear. Or worse still, fabrication damage from an RTA or some such or it has been used as a high speed winch with a climbers rope! Shear bars and blades are a sacrificial item in that they do loose their edge and the efficiency of the machine drops. Blades can be rotated or changed, but the shear bars are designed to be efficient for a longer period. They loose their supportive profile over many hours depending on the material being chipped so some will last for a long time while others being fed dirty brash etc won't. I would have said that checking things like anvil wear and bearing condition would be part of the "Good Housekeeper's Guide" for chipper owners. Same as adjusting the brakes and ensuring that the lights work.
  2. Give us the serial number and when they office is open, I should be able to tell you a few more details. Get some new blades and fit new vertical and horizontal shear bars and check for end float in the bearings as the gasp does seem excessive. I could be persuaded to pop by and give it a once over for you if needed.

" Good, but again, incorrect. You said fascinated when I asked for fascinate. Who will give me a sentence with the correct word?" Johnny sticks his hand up and the teacher quails, she has been burnt by him before. How can he ruin this she thinks..... "My big sister has a shirt with ten buttons on it, but her tits are so big she can only fasten eight!"
  4. Quite simply Ian, Laski wanted us to take all their products which we didn't need and we had a factory full off blokes making chippers which focused our marketing. Then we found that Predator were bringing them in painted yellow. So we dropped it..... We sold plenty of them in fits and starts, but, generally speaking, people stuck with Vermeer or Rayco. The screen and joystick controls were good, as was the drive and general stability. The screens were originally glass and should have been plastic as they did bust easy! Our first one had a detachable screen which blew off when I was driving down the motorway and I watched it disappear under an Artic! The next demo saw me covered in dust and scrapings and peppered with shot!
  5. The F500 is into the States via Terex? Wow!!! Mr Zepletal from Laski is going up in the world! GreenMech was the original importer for the UK some years ago and it wasn't a bad grinder tbh. Maybe not as strongly built as some US built stuff but it was a joy to use being able to look down at the head rather than around the engine at the head. The original cutters were expensive but it is only black smithery to change the pockets to your favourite! Diesel was stronger than petrol to grind with but both did the job - we sold more diesel than petrol but UK fuel prices are wild compared to US pump prices. A machine is only as good as the backup and Laski were okay at that too, at times....I don't recall any major issues that you didn't get with any other destructive tool if I'm honest. What are you being asked to pay?
  6. Do bear in mind that Black Friday caused meltdown with delivery people. Unprecedented online sales broke all records and frustrated many traders. I recently brought a door card from a scrap/breakers in Essex and it turned up a week later! Communication from the seller was on the line of "please bear with, don't do my feedback!" Etc and it did turn up eventually. Not always within the sellers control.

  8. 1928 Turntable, but fit your own winch as ours are underslung on the SafeTrac. (Which may work for brash drag I suppose).

  10. I've always done my stint in the kitchen, I'm not a pudding person but have done a few on them, but I do enjoy being creative for an appreciative audience. Although I tend to do more routine meals than fancy cordon blue stuff that looks good but is a small portion! Me and Aunt Bessy to a very palatable Sunday roast too.....
  11. Our four have been okay so far, we only had them this summer and they only got 30k apiece on them so far. Although I have heard of a few issues elsewhere, but then it is a numbers job. The more you build the more issues you may encounter!
  12. Welcome to the world of sales.... We are all sales people at heart, whether it is selling yourself to an employer, or selling your services to a contract or individual job, or selling for a living like me. Some you will win and some you walk away from feeling frustrated and poorer for the experience. The trick is the middle ground and be honest in all you do. I recently had to sell a "project" Metro on FleaBay - the first buyer couldn't even make contact which, to me, is the height of bad form. If you bid, you are entering into a contract, if you win then it is yours! By bidding you showed your intent. If you don't want it or the price isn't right, then walk away - applies if you are a buyer or seller. Hope the L200 does well for you....
  13. Oh I ordered some alright, purely on the belief that the fixings are the same on both trucks or rivnuts or pops will suffice. Bizarre that they fit them as standard on one truck but don't offer them on the same but slightly less well spec'd thing as an optional extra or even as a spare part!
  14. GreenMech have 4 of the new Rangers. The three sales chaps have 2.2XLT, and we also have a 3.2 Wild track. Two where ordered and planned and two were off of the forecourt because we couldn't really wait. Being a Rep, I prefer to keep mine reasonably clean looking and was disappointed that mine (and the other 2.2 units) didn't come with front mud flaps. After a short period, road grime and mud is splattered down those fancy chrome steps and up the doors. I was finding that people where getting mucky clothes getting in or out as well. So I went to my local Ford commercial garage to get some having seen them on the 3.2 Wild track. At the counter I gave the model and registration only to be told that they aren't available for that chassis range!?! The sales team got involved and confirmed that front flaps aren't offered for the XLT and I shouldn't really order them for a Wild track as they couldn't guarantee the fit!!! Now, I could get some Sparco items from Demon Tweeks that I'd need to fettle or pay over 4 times that for ones that may not fit mine but do fit another Ranger!?! Needless to say, the Ford parts chap did look embarrassed about the whole thing....

With any used kit, please go and see it, ring the suppliers with the serial number and take someone who can test rotor neartings, look at shear bats, feel for play in the roller drives and know it complies with current H&SE regs. £4k isn't much when you consider vat, so while you shouldn't expect a great deal, you don't want to buy and tjern spend loads more! Good luck - please consider using what you have as a deposit on something newer and with warranty!

  21. We recently had a professional camera/editor person in the do a new promo film for GreenMech, based around our new Arborist 190 chipper. Dave Clarke was the guy behind the camera and Martin Lucas, the GreenMech Sales Director, and myself did the other bits. We spent one day outside doing different shots with a tracked machine and then they had a day in the factory where the real action is. The end result will be a 3 minute film - maybe two x 3 minute films, we aren't too sure at the moment, but, I will say that at times, it isn't easy, fun or rewarding! We had a good laugh doing it, but when it goes wrong or the light changes or some such - it is right annoying! Bloody cold standing about too!

    I know I'm an old fogey but what is it with these gaming devices/people? My lad is after either xbox or PS4 for chrimble. When I was his age, I either had my head in the trees, under the bonnet, in front of the bar or plucking up the courage to try and get in some birds decolletage! Can someone please explain the attraction?
  24. It is brail, some had said the buttons were door buttons off of an underground train. PC gone to the extreme. Similarly, my wheelie bin has a noise measurement on it!

There are a few, less well known giants, to those who he tutored, I'm sure that many more will remember his words, I am sure that that many have gained from the mans experience and wisdom, I know that the industry will appreciate and thank you for your time, wisdom and consideration.
