1. Very good advice! Because of the tip geometry, the back end of the blade can also be quite close. Thanks for adding your comments.
2. With the cassette on the bench, fit your sharp blades then have a look at how close the anvil is to the blades. Ideally, they want to pass the shear bar fairly closely. Check both blades as there may be a difference. If the gap is significant then undo the shear bar and slide it in to decrease the gap. Or, fit the shim between the blade and the blade bed. Hope that helps.....
3. Those LPA engines were delightfully uncomplicated but could blow head gaskets fairly easily if the covers weren't removed and the fins blown out. We used then for a few years and the were rated at about 25hp. Take the head off, flat it down on a sheet of emery on a flat service, fit new gasket and pushrod tubes then tighten it down! Nowt hard tbh as each pot was separate thing - all you need is torque settings and valve clearance distance. I don't think that expensive stretch bolts were required! Come monday, ring GreenMech on 01789 400044 and press 2 when prompted then ask Mac or Jason if they can remember who their nearest agent was or google Lister and contact them. An industrial diesel engine firm or a boatyard could help out if you cannot do it yourself. Good luck with it - make sure that the infeed chute complies with HSE before you go to war with her!
4. I got Rugby tickets too! Result!!! Although I am a Tigers fan....will have to see if I can get extra tickets as wench and dead weights might want to come too....
5. Hmmm, a photo might help. Lpa3? Air cooled? Could be one of ours, a Danequip or an Arboreater maybe. Describe it if no pictures available.....
6. Congratulations to the Arbtalk community for raising a decent amount of money for a worthy cause, many thanks to all the prize donaters, big slap on the back to Steve Bulman and those who assisted and finally, commiserations to those who only benefited in the giving. Bloody good effort.
7. Wouldn't your Vermeer dealer service any other make? After all, income us income no matter what and a grinder is a grinder!
8. Try contacting TS industrie or the current importer for a diagram. The current people are PSD Groundcare on 08450 773773, they are based in Colne, Lancs.
9. Allan Marshal has got the Iron Horse thing now and I always thought that a canny tool for small scale extraction amongst other stuff where access is required to get stuff in or stuff out! Anyone see that at the APF or know how much? Allan did tell me but I forgot.

My Vice!!!

I think that one of our service vans has a piece of box section which slides out of the van with a vice on it. Not for right heavy use etc but that kind of thing could be mounted underneath a tipper body easily enough and be useful enough to sharpen a saw or hold things for smaller works.
11. A tough situation to deal with by any account. I would have thought that the first stage to any healing is the need to be healed and the "want" to get better. Maybe some "tough love" is going to be needed in the form of mental help assistance like a spell being sectioned.... Good luck for the future for you and your friend.
12. There are pros and cons to whichever day of the week to have a show. But the organiser's view must be that the visitor numbers over a weekend make it a viable event, maybe because they feel that families may pay to be there along with the crucial element of any show, which of course is the buyer of the products being exhibited.

Hey John, i could probably get one emailed out early next week. The 202 went out of production some 15 years ago so may be in paper format only and from memory, was pretty lightweight without parts manual, wiring plan or workshop instructions other than blade changing. Pete

19. You mean, could do this on TV without any backlash and without their "art" having to go straight to video!?! Mind you, he did get threats from religiously minded groups like the IRA apparently. Very strange to see someone smoking and drinking proper style on TV in this day and age.... Top man and class act too.....
20. I got one I would like to have a go at loving!
21. Tim, if you have lost the knob, replace it with an M8 bolt for now. 13mm spanner until you source a new knob.
22. These are the pictures of the clothing from our supplier - as they will be ordered in your size - I can only provide their photographs in samply colours only. Slant Rigg, based in Bideford in Avon, Warwickshire have commited to adding thei own contribution which would be to add your name to the embroidery on the left breast. Thanks Alan at Slant Rigg for your contribution. The hoody is in Forest Green, The coat and Gillet would be in black. Good Luck to you all - Thanks to Steve for doing this and you for buying the tickets....
23. There is adjustment - for the initial set up in assembly. As the distance between the blade and the shear bar changes so little over the blade live - no further adjustment is therefore necessary. If the rotor is removed for some reason then adjustment is advisable. The rotor is moved back and forth in the bearings and the pulley side bearing has a carrier that makes it easier for the assembly crews and future service engineers to do it accurately and with minimum fuss. Each bank of blades is passed past the shear bar until the optimum distance is reached then the carrier is locked off followed by the eccentric collars on the bearings. Job done.... Our paddles are put that way around as we believe from testing that they are more efficient at moving air and pumping it up the discharge chute. As they rotate close to the chute opening, they are trying to shear or scoop air away from the opening - this helps with both flow and noise.
24. A chap in Grantham fixed a small winch to the front of his trailer and hooked onto his CS. Then he could guide the CS while operating the remote.
