  1. Our four have been okay so far, we only had them this summer and they only got 30k apiece on them so far. Although I have heard of a few issues elsewhere, but then it is a numbers job. The more you build the more issues you may encounter!
  2. Welcome to the world of sales.... We are all sales people at heart, whether it is selling yourself to an employer, or selling your services to a contract or individual job, or selling for a living like me. Some you will win and some you walk away from feeling frustrated and poorer for the experience. The trick is the middle ground and be honest in all you do. I recently had to sell a "project" Metro on FleaBay - the first buyer couldn't even make contact which, to me, is the height of bad form. If you bid, you are entering into a contract, if you win then it is yours! By bidding you showed your intent. If you don't want it or the price isn't right, then walk away - applies if you are a buyer or seller. Hope the L200 does well for you....
  3. Oh I ordered some alright, purely on the belief that the fixings are the same on both trucks or rivnuts or pops will suffice. Bizarre that they fit them as standard on one truck but don't offer them on the same but slightly less well spec'd thing as an optional extra or even as a spare part!
  4. GreenMech have 4 of the new Rangers. The three sales chaps have 2.2XLT, and we also have a 3.2 Wild track. Two where ordered and planned and two were off of the forecourt because we couldn't really wait. Being a Rep, I prefer to keep mine reasonably clean looking and was disappointed that mine (and the other 2.2 units) didn't come with front mud flaps. After a short period, road grime and mud is splattered down those fancy chrome steps and up the doors. I was finding that people where getting mucky clothes getting in or out as well. So I went to my local Ford commercial garage to get some having seen them on the 3.2 Wild track. At the counter I gave the model and registration only to be told that they aren't available for that chassis range!?! The sales team got involved and confirmed that front flaps aren't offered for the XLT and I shouldn't really order them for a Wild track as they couldn't guarantee the fit!!! Now, I could get some Sparco items from Demon Tweeks that I'd need to fettle or pay over 4 times that for ones that may not fit mine but do fit another Ranger!?! Needless to say, the Ford parts chap did look embarrassed about the whole thing....
  5. Try approaching the current dealers in Colne, Lands. They are under the Gibsons Garden Machinery company.
  6. With any used kit, please go and see it, ring the suppliers with the serial number and take someone who can test rotor neartings, look at shear bats, feel for play in the roller drives and know it complies with current H&SE regs. £4k isn't much when you consider vat, so while you shouldn't expect a great deal, you don't want to buy and tjern spend loads more! Good luck - please consider using what you have as a deposit on something newer and with warranty!
  7. Good to hear that the surgery went okay. Les Butters at Chandlers Farm Equipment is selling his demo machine - almost new! That any good to you?
  8. Robin, in message box needs space! Delete some messages to make room! I'll send my mate a text to see if he would be happy to be contacted! Cho!
  9. There is some caravan storage on the same site and they had some good Leylandii as a backdrop and the light was good there too.
  10. Have a good time over Christmas and the New Year folks!
  11. We recently had a professional camera/editor person in the do a new promo film for GreenMech, based around our new Arborist 190 chipper. Dave Clarke was the guy behind the camera and Martin Lucas, the GreenMech Sales Director, and myself did the other bits. We spent one day outside doing different shots with a tracked machine and then they had a day in the factory where the real action is. The end result will be a 3 minute film - maybe two x 3 minute films, we aren't too sure at the moment, but, I will say that at times, it isn't easy, fun or rewarding! We had a good laugh doing it, but when it goes wrong or the light changes or some such - it is right annoying! Bloody cold standing about too!
  12. Another vote for Ian Bridges here, will even talk to Ian about a car finance for the wrench!

    Xbox one

I know I'm an old fogey but what is it with these gaming devices/people? My lad is after either xbox or PS4 for chrimble. When I was his age, I either had my head in the trees, under the bonnet, in front of the bar or plucking up the courage to try and get in some birds decolletage! Can someone please explain the attraction?
  14. It is brail, some had said the buttons were door buttons off of an underground train. PC gone to the extreme. Similarly, my wheelie bin has a noise measurement on it!
  15. There are a few, less well known giants, to those who he tutored, I'm sure that many more will remember his words, I am sure that that many have gained from the mans experience and wisdom, I know that the industry will appreciate and thank you for your time, wisdom and consideration. Our heartfelt thoughts, best wishes go to Wally Smith and his family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Godspeed.
  16. Take 14 year old back to the main dealer? Cheaper to scrap the door and fleabay another I would have thought!
  17. Ford Focus door won't unlock with the remote or key, and from the inside, the handle doesn't unlock or even open the door! I tried the connection to the unit against the wheelarch by the accelerater with no apparent joy and tried the trick with the key in the ignition going on\off four times etc to no avail.... I've wrecked the door card getting in to see if there is a cable issue but the lever appears to have correct travel but it still appears to be securely locked! Anyone got a clue or got connections with the motor trade who might give advice as to the next plan? As far as I can see, the next plan involves a trip to a breaker's for a door after cutting a hole in the skin and attacking the lock mechanism! I would have thought that a "fail to safe" system would have been in place to enable anyone in the car to get out in the event of..........cannot suss it out!

    Dyson repair...

I got a Dyson ten years ago and apart from a couple of things, it has served me well. Wash and dry the filters every 6 months and it is sound! Don't like the Henry that the GM office has - old fashioned paper bag in the housing!!! Dyson service has, it has to be said, impressed me. I got my now ex wife one some 20 years ago, a three years old, it played up, so she called them out. They repaired the fault, changed a couple of other components including the flexy hose for a very, very modest sum! Top marks....
  19. Are you hinting at something that may becind available or wishful thinking Stuart?
  20. Good luck with the sale, sounds like you had a bum steer on some work and need a break. Wouldn't the outfit you got it off help out?
  21. A 20 year old chipper....... Does it comply? Does it function 100%? What are your expectations?
  22. The Cougar is marketed by PSD, a spin off of the Gibsons Garden Machinery thing in Lancashire. Eric Hunter was the name of the firm that was the importer but they switched the light off when Jez Smothers left. Being a French owned company, you did get put through to France or Germany if you needed TS bits.
  23. As a kid at boarding school we had run errands for the 6th form, I got sent for a pint of pigeon's milk.
  24. It usually comes this way! Thing of the recent high winds......
  25. For some of the bigger exhibitors please bear in mind that a show is to sell stuff at and make some good contacts - a lot of marketing types and enthusiastic organisers can easily forget that. September can be a busy time with Saltex, Weald Woodfair, APF and a variety of other things going on too. If it is piggy-backed onto a sheepdog trial - then most of the people will be to watch the dogs, be entertained and watch the things happen. Even if you are a chair bodger or candle stick turner, the event is for you to sell stuff and not be free entertainment. I hope and wish that you do well - local stuff is ace for the community and hard work! Usually organised by a hard working knot of people who get no credit but all the blame if it bombs....
