  1. Yep the trapeze is dog shite, if it's not clipping in to the other side of your line and making retrieval impossible and brakes or does what's happened to your self and the replacement is nearly £50 from honeys... If it's just the bolt you should get one from a fasteners or use a cable tie as a temporary holding. The annoying thing is my previous rope guide was over 5 years old and never did the retrieval clip that screwed in let me down, but I've gone through two trapezes in ten months and I know others who have broken them as well in this time and at around £45 with vat and postage its a joke.
  2. I would like to see them try it though, we have over 250 square miles of forest at keilder the national park across the Pennine way and otterburn ranges I think there's enough room to try... Northumberland is the last true wilderness of England and not quite full of tourists and ramblers yet unless you walk hadrians wall ,Although a lot of sheep to eat as well but there's not to many in the forest and plenty of deer I keep hitting them !
  3. Zermatts I rate Currently on Andrews and switching back to the zermatts for big pine, spruce and fir strip downs as I don't find the soles on the Andrews are comfy enough for prolonged time on straight poles with spikes, they are a little too soft , but nice boots other wise.

    Stihl ms 201

Have they beefed up the handle ?
  5. Because the 460 was there greatest saw and for once stihl possibly listened that a lot of people didn't want mTronic on its replacement.. Although I'm sure it will come eventually. Husky have the 372 and 576 the stats are about the same as the 440 /460 441 /461 I suppose they all fill a niche for some one, although I've always found the 440's and 372's just slightly lacking so can see the appeal of the larger ones but others swear by them and say they are too heavy.0
  6. How you getting on with the 461 Jonny ,Is it as smooth as the 576 you had ?
  7. Ms461 6.7kg 4.4kw 76.5cc £739.20 with 20" although this will handle a 25" no problem. Ms441cm 6.6kg 4.1kw 70.7cc £726 with 20" bar and it looks like only the cm version is available,I'd be drawn to the 461 definitely.
  8. Oh and 461 is none CM tune(auto tuning ) and you can choose with the 441 if you want CM tune or not as well although I could be wrong and they just phasing out the older models with the 441
  9. Personally I would get a 461 but don't have a bad word to say about the 441 either, it's just with the weight I would get the extra power of the 461. Never a fan of the 440 I sold mine and don't like using are 460's great power but terrible anti vibes.
  10. Not at all , most interesting thread I've read on Arb talk in a while and I've had nothing to do with charcoal.
  11. You can order them from the states through eBay for £30. Looks a good idea so will try one.
  12. Certainly has the silvery bark of atlantica.
  13. We have one for sale still....
  14. How much is 25l Jon?
  15. I like the cocoon just not the trapeze , it's clipped it self back in to the other side of the rope a few times now and destroyed it self when pulled out, about £40 for a new one so when it snapped last week I put a small accessory biner secured with a cable tie with a small cheap petzl pulley on and it's doing the job until I can track down an old style retrieval point thing. Still would not work DRT with out one now.
  16. Damn right tom ,it amazes me how people think the system owes them some thing despite they have never got off there arse and contributed to it at all.
  17. Looks really good james.
  18. I have one but with out a pulley it's not on par with the wrench imo especially with a double rope..... Was taking on your comments on another thread
  19. That won't be the HH then!!! I think a haas type system is essential , I never thought to try it until the other day but after I realised my rope wrench and hitch hiker had been left in another bag off site I would have to ascend 50ft of thin air on a double rope, the haas worked really well at that task. I think both systems have there pros tbh ascent really is the main one for me with SRT but carrying ascenders and the rope wrench tether flopping around trying to work a canopy and getting in the way I find myself using ddrt a lot still as to me it's simpler in a crowded canopy. Inspiration though. [ame] [/ame]

    Countryfile.

    Ha ha very true.
  21. Making up for last year then!!
  22. If you like Stihl then stick with them, I have the 395 can't fault it but it's an old design now.
  23. First thing I do with a new xp saw is take the spark arrester out, been using a 550 xpg for a month or so now and report no problems so far , it's an amazing little saw better than any 346 I've used or 50 cc saw for that matter It becomes a bit boggy when running out of fuel that's the only warning it gives before stopping but have had no issues hot starting.
  24. FFS !! When did any one on the whole of this thread state they wear type a's because they look good ??? They look identical if any thing type C's look better imo.. Neither did any one say anything about been worried about sweaty legs it's heat stroke and exhaustion and associated disorders from dehydrated if wearing type Cs is making people complacent enough to use the saw in a bad position then I would go as far enough to say the german approach some one mentioned at the start of the thread is the way forward and if I'm honest there are plenty of skilled climbers in this country who don't wear any leg protection in summer ... Myself I would not consider that an option as my saw conditioning at times is a flailing mad man but being in control and not sloppy is more important to me now than just getting the job done in what ever manner necessary.
  25. Triangle cut with a big sharp saw and watch it pop off, just don't get the saw stuck in the bottom cuts!
