  1. 3/8 would be my preference.
  2. Any one tried the new transaw?
  3. Never had problems getting permission for reductions as long as it's sensible. 5 meters is not sensible or sensitive on a TPOed mature beech tree.
  4. As the others have said really. I would not of thinned it at all .. Your removing growth that would make suitable reduction points in the future you may have possibly been able to get away with a 2-3 meter reduction if the crown had not been thinned, I would possibly ask for a 2 meter reduction in a few years but the harder you hit trees the faster and thicker the regrowth if it survives is any way and essentially you end up with a denser larger crown with weaker growth than if the tree had been left in the first place. Less is more in the long run.
  5. I would definitely try before you buy , I find it uncomfortable in every way and the hearing protection poor others will tell you it's the best lid they have ever used.
  6. That looks stunning j , I was looking at a burr elm table last night wishing I had more slabs of it please pm me a price if it's for sale. On the subject of Ms880's I would give stihl a call and see if they can help I have known a few they have rebuilt free of charge just out of warranty.
  7. Get em up on Arb safe Eddie ... Sorry to hear that's a nasty hit.
  8. Yes , it's ok ,I once got put through to Sweden which was confusing but told rare this happens got hold of UK the parts I ordered came and fitted quick .
  9. Spent about half hour searching for half 130's this morning after seeing yours thinking it was some kit.. Ffs
  10. At first I thought you meant you had just replaced the chassis on your Landy Dean but that is a whole new back end right down to the wheel nuts.. Proper job.
  11. Yes mate through the locks on both boxes and ground anchores and wheel clamps and headlock for the chipper and two locked bollards behind the door ... Then some how moved a tractor with lowered 3pt linkage winch and no battery all whilst people slept in tents 20 meters away.
  12. Me too , I have seen a lot of distorted pines in the Czech Republic and was told it was snow damage to young trees I think the guy was not to sure either...but I seriously doubt there has been any serious snow in Bedfordshire since the early 80's but it could be possible.
  13. They did a lot of cutting in my place and I know a guy down the road had three alarms as well as cctv they did all but one alarm before it went off and they ran,But give them time and they will happily cut away..should of got that alarm!
  14. Relatively good news in the whole situation:) the police had a very good idea of who did mine but had No evidence what so ever also one of the first things they did was take out the cctv cameras, so if you do install them make it discreet, personally I think alarms are one of the best deterrents. I really hope they get a good result from the barsteward slicing himself though.
  15. Yep ! Could be an interesting project but the tractor it would go on is only around 100hp.
  16. I fancy it at that price to convert back but it's a long way to go.
  17. Yeah I just looked at the pics the draw bar looks a little crazy!
  18. Cheers spud I think I'll Change the lines and see what happens, pre filter in carb looks clean.
  19. I think it actually is registered with schliesing from what the original seller has said .. Don't see what the problem is with putting an engine on a tpo chipper it still retains the safety features , although this machine is too old to comply with most of them!! Even so it would be worth buying just to put back on 3 pt linkage if you had the time and skill.
  20. Would be good videos to show a new groundy , the last vid is how you use a rake !! Thanks for sharing james.
  21. Says 90 meters on the riko website. Worth checking out they have the spec table.
  22. It now runs fine half choke but dies with any throttle..,??
  23. Brush cutter is back together but not running ... Tank is seriously venting with the cap it will just about run on half choke or flicking back and fourth between full and none.. Any ideas O grand 2 stroke master??
  24. Felled about 13 big elms in a park 6 or so years ago that had been treated in the 80's to great expense, most had died or were dying at the point of felling so my guess is it had worked to a degree but I don't think any one is offering injections or treatment any more also all other elms in the immediate area had long since died so that's my reasoning to it been effective. Felled quite a few more survivors that to my knowledge had never been treated in the same time period all within a 10 mile radius to these about the same time so it was weird they had survived for so long being left as lone trees to suddenly succumb bearing in mind elm probably accounted for the majority of trees in the area before DED. I dead wooded this one when I was about 17 and it finally died around 7 years ago shame as it was an amazing tree and I don't think a wych elm that is more resilient and has a few survivors.
  25. What wood is the second pic tony ?nice work all round.
