    550 mk 2 woes

I found on the first saw it really upset the auto tune … yesterday, Monday I taped the hole with roof repair tape and it seemed to settle it , ran really well tbh considering I hadn’t started either saw for 6 months! Going to try Liquid Metal on the newer one.

    550 mk 2 woes

I think replacing the crank case is totally last resort mate.. I was just wondering if husky Know there is a fault or weak spot in the mk 2 . not one not of the first gen 550’s I’ve ever seen have broken here so the must have redesigned them to make them lighter @adw ? I know of one other person this has happened too on the mk2.
  4. No they will still buy land ,get ****************ing huge grants to plant trees on it so it is tax free or solar ,off set carbon or what ever the latest scam is. Either way it won’t go to food production.

    550 mk 2 woes

Any one else had this problem with mk 2 crank cases breaking around the back ? one of the saws was months old when it broke the other was just over 6 months and retired as the auto tune could not handle the change and ran like a bag of nails. I put them both too the back of the shed as I didn’t have time to address , now I’m on first thinning I need some 50cc saws that work!
  6. Problem is the tiny majority of farmers are the ones who should be feeding you , they will have to sell the land or go bankrupt when it’s passed down … who buys the land ? People with more money who won’t farm it. Amy one would think it’s part of the great DAVOS plan which keir has sworn his allegiance too….
  7. Aye … do I have to pay for you to divulge 😂 I have an older 6400 that’s getting sluggish and blocking filters quick.
  8. It’s simple enough Dan , just put the bars on top of each other and make sure they line up from the back and mark the bar from the original echo mount holes on to the stihl. To be fair Mark if I was organised enough I would buy them in bulk off you or rob with the correct number of drivelinks ..but I usually have a load then realise I have none left and the local mower shop or agri dealer off the shelf saves the day for an extortionate price instead.
  9. They are equally at home In our uk trees for transfers , like if your working in groups of any size broadleaves or pines or big wide open well spread crowns with big upright limbs. get your throw and clip in a foot ascender and it’s a quick and easy no hassle way of getting where you need to be.
  10. Out of the 5-6 2511’s I’ve owned I’ve taken off the bar and replaced with a 10” stihl straight out the box , there is no point in even messing around with a carving bar for tree work. The other thing is drill out two holes so you can pick up stihl 10” chains straight off the shelf off any dealer. certainly never had the problems described by th OP sounds like the wrong pitch chain.
  11. If I ever wear out my epple hook I’d buy it, the gape on the captain isn’t big enough for a lot of branches , especially if your doing a transfer across at right angles I want a bigger anchor than 4” ! only thing I may not be keen on is the soft link connection for rolling it off branches .. I would have to try it to see if it warrants concern though.
  12. Pardon our interruption... WWW.EBAY.CO.UK
  13. My mates been putting these on his 230’s and 280’s ..
  14. I dunno , some guns are just crap ! No amount of scopes or sighting in will the things ever shoot straight.
  15. Near half? only felled a couple of live ones but they where bloody heavy in comparison to the big dead ones… feather lite when milled and dryed though.
  16. If the grounds relatively easy to get the timber off you could sell parcels of standing timber , depending where you are and the grade of it I would say that would be your best bet… ideally this would be done in one go though and not 10 years !
  17. I think I had dial up internet when I first came here..
  18. Anyone have experiences of it in mature trees ?
  19. That photo is of a good tree , it just clearly shows the fungus…most are shocking with multiple dead leaders.. my thought and evidence is that it’s progressing across the stand, I think these where definitely infected in the nursery I just didn’t catch on , partly because the where levelled by dear in the first year too. if spraying will work I will do that but if it’s short term and the trees have been too damaged the cell grown small trees I got this year have amazed me and would be happy to replace the stunted wrecked trees and assess whats salvageable and spray.
  20. I have a few hundred young oaks that have this , amongst hundreds more in a young wood and open spaces that over the years I’ve been planting. They have all come from different sources but it seems that trees planted in 2021 are all badly effected , every single one intact and now they are crossing in to ones that have been planted a year or two after .. putting this down to they where infected in the nursery as they have looked rubbish from the start but it was almost impossible to get trees that year. Last few years I’ve put down the stunted growth and die back to frost damage but this year it was quite clear what it was. My question is if it’s treated in some way what is the best treatment... or should I this winter just remove the infected trees and burn them. im concerned as last year we planted a lot more than usual, they where high quality cell grown trees that have thrived with nearly 100% success and I don’t want them to get infected.
  21. I’ll try and get a picture of the foot pedal set up in the posch , it would not be hard to replicate from memory ..thing is from the 90’s and cut thousands of tons and still going .. I did replace it with an AMR so we could cut 1m billets for biomass boiler but I would rather use it to be honest for cutting rings and it’s proven far more reliable.
  22. You can get a foot pedal kit for the Posch or could imported … I would not let any employer use it with one installed though. Very easy to end up minus a digit.
  23. Have a look at zamberlan boots , mate bought a pair at the APF and said they were the comfiest out the box he’s ever bought . I’ve just bought a pair of pfanner tirol fighters as I used to wear them years back and suddenly remembered after half an hour of wearing how long they took to break in !
  24. I use the 1100s , find they just wear down , if you go too long they have a habit of pulling out in harder ground although the supatracks in general won’t do this in comparison to other studs.. I suppose the longer studs could be handier but I’ve just always stuck with 1100’s
