  1. I think mick hit the nail on the head , stump grinding is easy money in comparison to the removal , one man and one machine… most money I’ve ever made in day was grinding stumps…. 78 conifer stumps done by 2pm with a big grinder with a blade to back fill to after it had taken four days too fell and clear them. when you think about it most landscapers struggle to do tree work efficiently I would imagine if they can’t dig it out they would come straight to a stump grinding service.
  2. Always thought this would of been a great marketing campaign..
  3. CT quickstep I keep going back too.

    Coms

I had to bin our freedconns as the newer versions would not pair with the existing sets so bite the bullet and got sennas which I don’t regret at all.
  5. Less drop when you get to negative rigging as you can take a lot more slack out on a fixed bollard.. this intern makes the whole operation smoother, once you have tried one you won’t want to go back… saying that I still have a portawrap in my light rigging kit as it’s just less hassle to set up and move about but off any serious rigging a bollard is a must.
  6. If it’s a council roof I very much doubt it will be asbestos… can you not just chuck a sheet on when no one’s looking.
  7. There’s a lad on face book gee clouston who had one for sale recently on arbtalk Facebook, he may have changed his mind as a few of us thought he was mad for selling as it had come from Wilson’s with a nut and bolt rebuild payed for by the government for training students under supervision so was pretty mint… worth trying to find him if your serious as it’s a nice rig and what your after.
  8. Why any one would want to do a 3 day course is beyond me, one days enough!

    Lawson cypress top out?

Hedge could be aphid damage. I would not touch the lawsons , if you top them you will have a worse problem in a few years as they will grow back more vigorously, weaker and you will enter a circle of having to spend money on them around every 5 years to keep them , if light is an issue I would get them felled… any reasonable tree officer won’t object to that but usually you will have to replant.
  10. The white splodges are lichens , there is some scaring probably from having things nailed to it , the fact it’s had a half enveloped hanger in the first pic shows the tree is healthy and vigorous to cope with wound wood…there would be nothing really there that would concern me from the photo , even the included union. That said I would still get it looked at professionally as even if you put a lot more pics up on here of things we would want to see like … right in the buttress roots and some of the overall crown, there is still some thing we could miss… get a professional arborist though not some door knocker , the arb association approved contractor list is a good place to start unless you can find some one local off the forum ?
  11. I’ll be honest if I do bomb it out speed line it will usually be with a large pinto pulley on to give it some speed , I really don’t like crabs unless it’s a near vertical job as if you need a branch out of a crowded crown they have a tendency to stick just like hunickes did … so if I was going to make a job out of it its why I would predominantly use a controlled speed line and do three four small bits in a row off the rigging plate pulley set up and they pull it all back for the next lot instead of you having to pull up your own climbing line with all the slings on just makes life easier … for big lumps being able to control speed and not melt ropes would be why it’s the preferred too.
  12. Chuck a link up , could do with a laugh.
  13. Jensen Chipper Parts | Buy Jensen Parts Online | Authorised Dealer JENSENCHIPPERPARTS.CO.UK Authorised Jensen Chipper Parts dealer - Buy Jensen blades, belts, electrical components, hydraulic... field and forest if your in Scotland. looks a nice machine.
  14. If I was speedlining and making a job out of it I would have a rigging plate off a pulley on a taught line.. below where it was anchored high in the tree I would have a second pulley with a second line attached to the rear of the rigging plate so the speed line can be pulled back to you and controlled speed in ascent to the DZ. off the rigging plate, then have two three meter lengths of dead eye off the rigging plate that can be used to balance or tie off whatever your cutting. straight out balls speedlining just slings and crabs but I’ve found the above handy easy and time saving in the right situations.
  15. Some thing else I wish I’d never sold looking at the prices of any 89 CR250 now
  16. If it makes a difference I have to stand on my agts link arms if there is no implements weight on them.
  17. Seem to remember killing that 346 pretty quickly , never got what all the fuss was about the 346 , gimme a 560 or 550 any day.
  18. Ash is pretty good at buckling ! just dug out these ash boards ,they have been under a bit of tin for 5 years in the top yard , tree was dead on the stump. a couple have cupped but rest look good , should be ready to be of use for some one the photo doesn’t do them justice as the rippling and colour was unreal when milled, I’d not seen ash like it.
  19. Hope you get it back up and running soon, they are pretty agricultural chippers so relatively easy to fix.
  20. So the clutch is on the end of the cutting fly wheel and not the engine , it allows it to spin down when the engines turned off unlike say a Timberwolf which comes to an abrupt stop when the ignition is switched off which puts a lot of force on the bottom end. If the belts are turning from the engine and to the clutch the rest is doing nowt I would say clutch. I’ve circled it in red for you 🫣to make it a bit clearer that it’s not off the engine block itself !
  21. I would say clutch then… but I would definitely speak to overland tomorrow to confirm, I’ve found there mechanic spot on to speak to and talk you through repairs if you have any issues or need spares.
  22. It’s grease point E on mine .. The 220 is pretty much the same lay out as the 235 so don’t know if your big machine will be the same or an upsized version…. Do you keep the clutch fluid changed regular mick , I was told that was the only thing to be religious on them with.
  23. Unless the belts are slipping because the tensioner is seized because it’s never been greased.
