  1. When it comes to tree work boots why do all of them look like multi coloured clown boots now ? Is it a HSE requirement for this industry to look like a multi coloured circus show f wit ? I get hi vis for work but jeez and I’ll admit a few years back to buying red Andrew’s but I’m drawing a line now..
  2. Do they even pay Steve ?? 😆 I would rather pay to get rid of wood than deal with people who feel they have some entitlement to it.. hand balling tons of timber a day is taxing enough with out having to deal with people who rub you up the wrong way in a few paragraphs … another note, some of us who do fire wood are paying £90 a tonne for timber before it’s even cut to sell.
  3. Can’t imagine many as it was flattened in the war.. I went there once but only stayed for the evening at a camp site as we were travelling through… lots of big black poplars is all I can remember.
  4. They always seemed higher to me when I’ve seen them but then that could be the wheel and tyre choice ?
  5. If you can get spares then holder , but like you I’ve seen numerous posts on here and Facebook with folk unable to source clutches. I like my agt with wide wheels but the clearance isn’t great for working in the woods , especially if some one else has left numerous 1ft high stumps for you to find and get hung up on.. easy to get parts for and work on though.
  6. I’ve often wondered who does that and their IQ…
  7. Except maybe the home owner who persistently taps you on the shoulder whilst making a hand warming gesture for every thing bigger than 1” when your trying to chip up.
  8. A lot of contracts stipulate not to leave logs by the road for the reason passing motorists pose a significant hazzard to them selves and others doing exactly this… nothing pisses me off more than some bell end pulling over with his hazards on for logs causing chaos in the middle of a job especially if there is TM on.
  9. I don’t even know where to start … but how can importing millions of tonnes of timber from the other side of the world with heavy oil burning ships .. cutting down our own forests and others to supply the demand for biomass at a rate that’s not sustainable and driving up the price of timber to the point saw mills shut… whilst at the same time not replanting with soft woods and focusing on rewilding with hard woods .. it’s a disaster, absolute shambles. when they planned the biomass at cramlington they asked the FC if keilder would be able to meet the demand for it , I know the the harvesting manager at the time and he said there was absolutely no way … they went ahead any way. Green incentives to be payed to kill off the last of the forestry industry so we have to import all our timber ?
  10. It is or was…. Send surveyor, the above poster a message as it’s his baby and he will sort you one if he’s still making them.

I imagine London ulez ito be like the one n Newcastle then, which they have ran the redirected traffic through the poorest areas whilst the sky high city houses are all safe in their little green zone to be more likely the case mick.
  12. They did do a short bloc that was cheaper than a new crank… work that out ! But was an easy fix. I may have an unused 562 crank case and bearings split (not a short block) will have a look tomorrow, you’re welcome to it if you pay postage.
  13. To be honest most of it would be for biomass boiler in 1 m lengths but I have a load of relatively straight ash I was going to mill but thought would be ok for processing if it was in billets as I’m about two loads short. I was thinking today maybe the splitter could be mounted the valtras loader.
  14. So you don’t need a 8+ tonne machine to make the most out of a screw splitter Stevie ?
  15. After opinions , I have a load of large over sized timber and am looking at splitting it down in to billets to go through a processor and for biomass boiler fuel. what would be the minimum size excavator and what are decent cones. thanks in advance.
  16. Other thing was the hose was crap but got my local forestry workshop to rig some decent pipe up with couplings and it’s been no bother since.
  17. Got same in my yard, well an Aldi one we bought a few years back , removes paint with the most powerful nozzle so would not advise that on but it’s been really good for the price over the last few years, a lot better than the previous petrol karcher ones which where total crap, the Aldi blows them away with performance and reliability. I even left it outside in the hard frosts we had the other day and was expecting it to have split the the water pump but was totally fine , but I do try and drain the whole thing when I’ve finished using it or any water pump really. only thing with IBC a water is it does get algae so you need to make sure the pre filter is not blocked most times you use it unless you use the suction hose which is available as an accessory. Another problem is the plastic wheels are crap but I’ve just bolted it to a pallet and move it with the avant if I have too.
  18. Run ours on 6400 , perfect but just be careful as the 8.5 is a hell of a winch and would probably flip the tractor before it stopped pulling 😆
  19. I haven’t seen him on here for a while Mike.
  20. A very long shot but worth a go…. I have one of the older style Denver mewps , the front switch on the travel lock was playing up and in my infinite wisdom this afternoon tried to take a photo of the wires before changing the broken switch … my hands been wet and fecking frozen didn’t take the photo which I didn’t realise until I had it all in place to tighten up and I now have a mewp that’s not right after an unlucky guess ! I will bung any one £50 by PayPal if they can take a photo for me of where the wires go on the switch, it’s two small screws to flip the cover , I can’t get any one to look at it for weeks and am stuffed without it on some jobs I have coming up.
  21. Making them work ! Few from the last week. Got pretty bogged today and had to go back for the 6400 and tajfun again , should of winched them out in first place but had eyes on the prize ! .cut a ride through in a straight line it was facing … was a little concerned about unloading the big logs in mud that deep and being unstable and coping the trailer in doing so left them on … but the tajfun got the blade in and had the 6400 up in the air and pulled the lot out no bother… wish I had some photos !
  22. 220 has pretty much the same chamber as a 235.
  23. The longer the better imo , once it’s on the log deck a 3.6 keeps you busier and you fill crates quicker.
  24. How can this be so ? Every week the media say there is another named storm with 100000mph winds hitting the country. logs though June -august is our drying time… never have found autumn to be any good for cutting and drying wood at all. you need more space I’m afraid and buy at least a year in advance.
  25. The first time I tried the Euro gaffs I’d left mine at home ,I had a shocking hangover from some surprise celebrations and a crane dismantle to do and was offered a pair to try. I loved them that much I went out and bought a pair.. they came with short gaffs though, still got on with them really well, I swapped them out for euros again a few months to get that magic feeling from that day and they felt nothing like I remembered and had to take them off after an hour to finish the job it was that bad… came to the conclusion it Must of been that I was still so pissed that they felt that great…
